In the search of alternative resources to make commodity chemicals and transportation fuels for a low carbon future,lignocellulosic biomass with over 180-billion-ton annual production rate has been identified as a promising *** review focuses on the state-of-the-art catalytic transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals and *** a brief introduction on the structure,major resources and pretreatment methods of lignocellulosic biomass,the catalytic conversion of three main components,i.e.,cellulose,hemicellulose and lignin,into various compounds are comprehensively *** in separate steps or in one-pot,cellulose and hemicellulose are hydrolyzed into sugars and upgraded into oxygen-containing chemicals such as 5-HMF,furfural,polyols,and organic acids,or even nitrogen-containing chemicals such as amino *** the other hand,lignin is first depolymerized into phenols,catechols,guaiacols,aldehydes and ketones,and then further transformed into hydrocarbon fuels,bioplastic precursors and bioactive *** review then introduces the transformations of whole biomass via catalytic gasification,catalytic pyrolysis,as well as emerging ***,opportunities,challenges and prospective of woody biomass valorization are highlighted.

Land use type affects the physicochemical properties of *** value of OM and tN is high in acacia *** acidity of soil is considered a serious constraint for *** cash crops are acacia,cassava,banana,rice and *** fertility is affected by land-use types and land management,which exacerbates soil erosion and various other forms of soil degradation in the mountainous regions of *** study was conducted in A Luoi District,thua thien Hue,Vietnam to identify the effects of land-use types on specific soil physicochemical characteristics related to soil *** physicochemical properties,such as organic matter(OM),total nitrogen(tN),total phosphorous(tP),and K+were significantly affected by land-use *** results showed that the soils were sandy in rice but clay loam for acacia and *** mean bulk density value of acacia soil was significantly greater than that of other *** were higher in the acacia soils than those in the rice,maize,and banana *** OM content was significantly higher in the acacia,cassava,and banana soils than those in the rice and maize *** mean of exchangeable K+in the rice soil was higher compared to those in other soils and was affected by land-use *** high exchangeable acidity content in the soils was probably due to intensive ***,both land use type and management did not affect the CEC ***,the inappropriate land use caused the disturbance of soil physicochemical properties,indicating that the conditions of rice and maize soils are becoming worse than acacia ***,lowering the intensity of cultivation,adopting incorporated soil fertility management,and applying organic fertilizer should preserve the existing conditions and enhance soil properties.

Machine learning and Bayesian optimization for performance prediction of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells

Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are critical components of zero-emission electro-hydrogen generators. Accurate performance prediction is vital to the optimal operation management and preventive maintenance of these generators. Polarization curve remains one of the most important features representing the performance of PEMFCs in terms of efficiency and durability. However, predicting the polarization curve is not trivial as PEMFCs involve complex electrochemical reactions that feature multiple nonlinear relationships between the operating variables as inputs and the voltage as outputs. Herein, we present an artificial-intelligence-based approach for predicting the PEMFCs’ performance. In that way, we propose first an explainable solution for selecting the relevant features based on kernel principal component analysis and mutual information. then, we develop a machine learning approach based on XGBRegressor and Bayesian optimization to explore the complex features and predict the PEMFCs’ performance. the performance and the robustness of the proposed machine learning based prediction approach is tested and validated through a real industrial dataset including 10 PEMFCs. Furthermore, several comparison studies with XGBRegressor and the two popular machine learning-based methods in predicting PEMFC performance, such as artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machine regressor (SVR) are also conducted. the obtained results show that the proposed approach is more robust and outperforms the two conventional methods and the XGBRegressor for all the considered PEMFCs. Indeed, according to the coefficient of determination criterion, the proposed model gains an improvement of 6.35%, 6.8%, and 4.8% compared with ANN, SVR, and XGBRegressor respectively.

Stochastic demand is an important factor that heavily affects production *** influences activities such as purchasing,manufacturing,and selling,and quick adaption is *** production planning,for reasons such as reducing costs and obtaining supplier discounts,many decisions must be made in the initial stage when demand has not been *** effects of non-optimal decisions will propagate to later stages,which can lead to losses due to overstocks or *** find the optimal solutions for the initial and later stage regarding demand realization,this study proposes a stochastic two-stage linear program-ming model for a multi-supplier,multi-material,and multi-product purchasing and production planning *** objective function is the expected total cost after two stages,and the results include detailed plans for purchasing and production in each demand ***-scale problems are solved through a deterministic equivalent transformation *** solve the problems in the large scale,an algorithm combining metaheuristic and sample average approximation is *** algorithm can be implemented in parallel to utilize the power of the *** algorithm based on the observation that if the remaining quantity of materials and number of units of products at the end of the initial stage are given,then the problems of the first and second stages can be decomposed.

Mean-field description of heavy-ion scattering at low energies and fusion

the nuclear mean-field potential built up during the ^(12)C+^(12)C and ^(16)O+^(16)O collisions at low energies relevant for the carbon-and oxygen-burning processes is constructed within the double-folding model(DFM) using the realistic ground-state densities of^(12)C and^(16)O, and CDM3Yn density-dependent nucleon–nucleon(NN) interaction. the rearrangement term, indicated by the Hugenholtz–van Hove theorem for the single-particle energy in nuclear matter, is properly considered in the DFM calculation. to validate the use of the density-dependent NN interaction at low energies, an adiabatic approximation was suggested for the dinuclear overlap density. the reliability of the nucleus–nucleus potential predicted through this low-energy version of the DFM was tested in the optical model(OM) analysis of the elastic^(12)C+^(12)C and ^(16)O+^(16)O scattering data at energies below 10 MeV/*** OM results provide a consistently good description of the elastic angular distributions and 90 excitation function. the dinuclear mean-field potential predicted by the DFM is further used to determine the astrophysical S factor of the ^(12)C+^(12)C and ^(16)O+^(16)O fusions in the barrier penetration model. Without any adjustment of the potential strength, our results reproduce the non-resonant behavior of the S factor of the ^(12)C+^(12)C and ^(16)O+^(16)O fusions very well over a wide range of energies.

A recent study published in Nature reveals an interaction between SWI/SNF subunits and mitotic chromatin,which is essential for establishing gene bookmarks and preserving cell identity.1 the findings deepen our understanding of how SWI/SNF complexes regulate transcriptional memory heritability for cell fate commitment(Fig.1),thus validating the indispensability of SWI/SNF complexes in development and association of their perturbance with tumorigenesis and neurodevelopment disorders.

the cross-docking is a very important subject in logistics and supply chain *** to the definition,cross-docking is a process dealing with transhipping inventory,in which goods and products are unloaded from an inbound truck and process through a flow-center to be directly loaded onto an outbound ***-docking is favored due to its advantages in reducing the material handing cost,the needs to store the product in warehouse,as well decreasing the labor cost by eliminating packaging,storing,pick-location and order *** cross-docking,products can be consolidated and transported as a full load,reducing overall distribution *** this paper,we focus on a truck scheduling at the multidoor,multi-crossdocking network with inventory constraints and process capability *** this model,a truck can visit severals docks for loading or unloading many types *** situation is very common in *** study also developed an exact mathematical model using mixedinteger linear programming(MILP)with the objective of minimizing the makespan to obtaint the benchmark in small scale *** scale problems are solved through Simulated Annealing(SA)algorithm and tabu Search(tS)*** of these algorithms will be compared to benchmarks obtained from solver as well as to each other.
