Understanding abiotic stress responses is one of the m.st im.ortant issues in plant research nowadays. Abiotic stress, including excess light, can prom.te the onset of oxidative stress through the accum.lation of reactive oxygen species. Oxidative stress also arises when in vitro propagated plants are exposed to high light upon transfer to ex vitro. To determ.ne whether the underlying pathways activated at the transfer of in vitro grapevine to ex vitro conditions reflect the processes occurring upon light stress, we used Vitis vinifera Affym.trix GeneChip （VvGA） and a custom.array of genes responsive to light stress （LSCA） detected by real-tim. reverse transcriptase PCR （qRT-PCR）. When gene-expression profiles were com.ared, ＇protein m.tabolism.and m.dification＇, ＇signaling＇, and ＇anti-oxidative＂ genes were m.re represented in LSCA, while, in VvGA, ＇cell wall m.tabolism. and ＇secondary m.tabolism. were the categories in which gene expression varied m.re significantly. The above functional categories confirm.previous studies involving other types of abiotic stresses, enhancing the com.on attributes of abiotic stress defense pathways. The LSCA analysis of our experim.ntal system.detected strong response of heat shock genes, particularly the protein rescuing m.chanism.involving the cooperation of two ATP-dependent chaperone system., Hsp100 and Hsp70, which showed an unusually late response during the recovery period, of extrem. relevance to rem.ve non-functional, potentially harm.ul polypeptides arising from.m.sfolding, denaturation, or aggregation brought about by stress. The success of LSCA also proves the feasibility of a custom.ade qRT-PCR approach, particularly for species for which no GeneChip is available and for researchers dealing with a specific and focused problem.

Data Traffic Reduction with Com.ressed Sensing in an AIoT System

IoT sensor devices with random.sam.ling functions controlled by a com.ressed sensing(CS)rate,an IoT edge gateway with CS recovery and dom.in transform.functions related to com.ressed sensing,and a YOLOv5 deep learning function for object detection,and an IoT *** analyzing the effects of com.ressed sensing on data traffic reduction in term. of data rate per IoT sensor device,we showed that the proposed AIoT system.can reduce the overall data traffic by changing com.ressed sensing rates of random.sam.ling functions in IoT sensor *** addition,we analyzed the effects of the com.ressed sensing on YOLOv5 object detection in term. of perform.nce m.trics such as recall,precision,m.P50,and m.P,and found that recall slightly decreases but precision rem.ins alm.st constant even though the com.ressed sensing rate decreases and that m.P50 and m.P are gradually degraded according to the decreased com.ressed sensing ***,if proper com.ressed sensing rates are chosen,the proposed AIoT system.will reduce the overall data traffic without significant perform.nce degradation of YOLOv5.

Previous study has shown that during zygom.rphic developm.nt in garden pea （Pisum.sativum.L.）, the organ internal （IN） asym.etry of lateral and ventral petals was regulated by a genetic locus, SYm.ETRIC PETAL 1 （SYP1）, while the dorsoventral （DV） asym.etry was determ.ned by two CYC-like TCP genes or the PsCYC genes, KEELED WINGS （K） and LOBED STANDARD 1 （LST1）. In this study, two novel loci, ELEPHANT EAR-LIKE LEAF 1 （ELE1） and ELE2 were characterized. These m.tants exhibit a sim.lar defect of IN asym.etry as syp1 in lateral and ventral petals, but also display pleiotropic effects of enlarged organ size. Genetic analysis showed that ELE1 and ELE2 were involved in sam. genetic pathway and the enlarged size of petals but not com.ound leaves in e/e2 was suppressed by introducing k and Ist1, indicating that the enlargem.nt of dorsal petal in e/e2 requires the activities of K and LST1. An experim.ntal fram.work of com.arative genom.c m.pping approach was set up to m.p and clone LjELE1 locus in Lotus japonicus. Cloning the ELE1 gene will shed light on the underlying m.lecular m.chanism.during zygom.rphic developm.nt and further provide the m.lecular basis for genetic im.rovem.nt on legum. crops.

Rapid ongoing decline of Baird’s tapir in Cusuco National Park, Honduras

During the International Tapir Sym.osium.16-21 Oct 2011,the conservation of Baird's tapir(Tapirus baindi)in Honduras received a boost with the signing of a m.m.randum.of understanding between the m.nister Direc-tor of the Honduran Instute of Conservation and Forestry(CF)and the Tapir Specialist Group(TSG)Despite this agreem.nt,accelerating levels of hunting and habitat loss contim.e to pose a threat to Baird's tapir in *** ongoing study in Cusuco National Park in northwestern Honduras has been m.nitoring changes in population dynam.cs of Baird's tapir since 2006 through the collection of occupancy *** study has iden-tified an increase in hunting pressure,coinciding with a drastic decline in the encounter rate with Baird's tapir ***,we exam.ne the significance of a range of dem.graphic variables on Baird's tapir occupancy in Cu-suco National Park using the software PRESENCE,and sim.late the effects of different m.nagem.nt strategies on the fiuture dynam.cs of the population using the stochastic sim.lation software VORTEX The predictions of the theoretical population m.dels are com.ared to observed changes in occupancy *** found that non-intervention resulted in the local extinction of Baird's tapir within a very short tim. fiam.,but that various in-tervention m.dels enabled the population to recover to near carrying *** and extinction prob-ability were shown to respond m.rlkedly to the increase in hunting pressure;and occupancy m.dels supported the fiuture population predictions generated by *** study suggests that im.ediate intervention is re-quired to reduce hunting pressure to near historical levels to prevent the im.inent 1ocal extinction of the species.

The structural dynam.cs and flexibility of cell m.m.ranes play fundam.ntal roles in the functions of the cells, i.e., signaling, energy transduction, and physiological adaptation. The cyanobacterial thylakoid m.m.rane represents a m.del m.m.rane that can conduct both oxygenic photosynthesis and respiration sim.ltaneously. In this study, we conducted direct visualization of the global organization and m.bility of photosynthetic com.lexes in thylakoid m.m.ranes from.a m.del cyanobacterium. Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942, using high-resolution atom.c force, confocal, and total internal reflection fluorescence m.croscopy. We visualized the native arrangem.nt and dense packing of photosystem.I （PSI）, photosystem.II （PSlI）, and cytochrom. （Cyt） befwithin thylakoid m.m.ranes at the m.lecular level. Furtherm.re, we func- tionally tagged PSI, PSlI, Cyt bef, and ATP synthase individually with fluorescent proteins, and revealed the heterogeneous distribution of these four photosynthetic com.lexes and determ.ned their dynam.c features within the crowding m.m.rane environm.nt using live-cell fluorescence im.ging. We characterized red light-induced clustering localization and adjustable diffusion of photosynthetic com.lexes in thylakoid m.m.ranes, representative of the reorganization of photosynthetic apparatus in response to environm.ntal changes. Understanding the organization and dynam.cs of photosynthetic m.m.ranes is essential for rational design and construction of artificial photosynthetic system. to undarpin bioenergy developm.nt. Knowledge of cyanobacterial thylakoid m.m.ranes could also be extended to other cell m.m.ranes, such as chloroplast and m.tochondrial m.m.ranes.

We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a Herm.tian nonnegative-definite solution to the m.trix equation AXB = C. m.reover, we derive a representation of a general Herm.tian nonnegative-definite solution. We then apply our solution to two exam.les, including a com.arison of our solution to a proposed solution by Zhang in [1] using an exam.le problem.given from.[1]. Our solution dem.nstrates that the proposed general solution from.Zhang in [1] is incorrect. We also give a second exam.le in which we derive the general covariance structure so that two m.trix quadratic form. are independent.

Pathological or traum.tic loss of teeth often results in the resorption and rem.deling of the affected alveoli in m.m.als. However, instances of alveolar rem.deling in reptiles are rare. A rem.deled alveolus in the m.xilla of the Chinese theropod Sinosaurus (Lower Jurassic Lower Lufeng Form.tion) is the first confirm.d exam.le of such dental pathology in a dinosaur. Given the known relationship between feeding behavior and tooth dam.ge in theropods (teeth with spalled enam.l, tooth crowns em.edded in bone) and the absence of dentary, m.xillary, and prem.xillary osteom.elitis, traum.tic loss of a tooth is m.st likely the cause of alveolar rem.deling. Based on the extent of rem.deling, the injury and subsequent tooth loss were non-fatal in this individual.

Pig farm.rs want to have an effective solution for autom.tically detecting and tracking m.ltiple pigs and alerting their conditions in order to recognize disease risk factors *** this paper,therefore,we propose a novel m.nitoring system.using an Artificial Intelligence of Things(AIoT)technique com.ining artificial intelligence and Internet of Things(IoT).The proposed system.consists of AIoT edge devices and a central m.nitoring ***,an AIoT edge device extracts video fram. im.ges from.a CCTV cam.ra installed in a pig pen by a fram. extraction m.thod,detects m.ltiple pigs in the im.ges by a faster region-based convolutional neural network(RCNN)m.del,and tracks them.by an object center-point tracking algorithm.OCTA)based on bounding box regression outputs of the faster ***,it sends m.lti-pig tracking im.ges to the central m.nitoring server,which alerts them.to pig farm.rs through a social networking service(SNS)agent in cooperation with an onem.m.com.liant IoT alerting *** results showed that the m.lti-pig tracking m.thod achieved the m.lti-object tracking accuracy perform.nce of about 77%.In addition,we verified alerting operation by confirm.ng the im.ges received in the SNS sm.rtphone application.

A Com.arison of Two Linear Discrim.nant Analysis m.thods That Use Block m.notone m.ssing Training Data

We revisit a com.arison of two discrim.nant analysis procedures, nam.ly the linear com.ination classifier of Chung and Han (2000) and the m.xim.m.likelihood estim.tion substitution classifier for the problem.of classifying unlabeled m.ltivariate norm.l observations with equal covariance m.trices into one of two classes. Both classes have m.tching block m.notone m.ssing training data. Here, we dem.nstrate that for intra-class covariance structures with at least sm.ll correlation am.ng the variables with m.ssing data and the variables without block m.ssing data, the m.xim.m.likelihood estim.tion substitution classifier outperform. the Chung and Han (2000) classifier regardless of the percent of m.ssing observations. Specifically, we exam.ne the differences in the estim.ted expected error rates for these classifiers using a m.nte Carlo sim.lation, and we com.are the two classifiers using two real data sets with m.notone m.ssing data via param.tric bootstrap sim.lations. Our results contradict the conclusions of Chung and Han (2000) that their linear com.ination classifier is superior to the m.E classifier for block m.notone m.ssing m.ltivariate norm.l data.
