methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes using PtRuIn/c electrocatalysts prepared by borohydride reduction process

PtRuIn/c electrocatalysts( 20% metal loading by weight) were prepared by sodium borohydride reduction process using H_2Ptcl6·6H_2O,Rucl_3·xH_2O and Incl_3·xH_2O as metal sources,borohydride as reducing agent and carbon Vulcan Xc72 as support. the synthetized PtRuIn/c electrocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XRD),energy dispersive analysis( EDX),transmission electron microscopy( tEm),cyclic voltammetry( cV),chronoamperommetry( cA) and polarization curves in alkaline and acidic electrolytes( single cell experiments). the XRD patterns showPtpeaks are attributed to the face-centered cubic( fcc) structure,and a shift of Pt( fcc) peaks indicates that Ru or In is incorporated into Ptlattice. tEmmicrographs showmetal nanoparticles with an average nanoparticle size between 2.7 and 3.5 nm. methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes was investigated at room temperature,by cV and cA. PtRu/c( 50 ∶ 50) shows the highest activity among all electrocatalysts in study considering methanol oxidation for acidic and alkaline electrolyte. Polarization curves at 80 ℃ showPtRuIn/c( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25)with superior performance for methanol oxidation,when compared to Pt/c,PtIn/c and PtRu/c for both electrolytes. the best performance obtained by PtRuIn/c( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25) in real conditions could be associated with the increased kinetics reaction and/or with the occurrence simultaneously of the bifunctional mechanism and electronic effect resulting from the presence of Ptalloy.

ten different casing soils were collected from two soils at two depths （0.2 and 2.0 m below soil surface） to examine the relationships between the physical properties of non-axenic casing soil and yield, number and weight of the medicinal mushroom Agamcua blaaei ss. Heinemann. the results showed that soil clay content and bulk density were negatively correlated with the mushroom yield, respectively, but soil silt content and water-holding capacity were found to be positively correlated with the yield. the number of mushrooms was negatively correlated with soil water-holding capacity but positively correlated with soil clay, bulk density and porosity. the weight of mushroom was positively correlated with the content of soil fine sand and negatively correlated with the contents of soil coarse sand, total sand and clay. Neither soil depth nor different soil combinations affected the yield and number of mushrooms, but the mushroom weight was affected by the soil combinations and soil depth, so interplay in the fructification process with the physical characteristics of casing is complicated.

A review of friction stir welding of steels： tool, material flow, microstructure, and properties

considerable progress has been achieved in friction stir welding （FSW） of steels in every aspect of tool fab- rication, microstructure control and properties evaluation in the past two decades. With the development of reliable welding tools and precise control systems, FSW of steels has reached a new level of technical maturity. High-quality, long welds can be produced in many engineering steels. compared to traditional fusion welding, FSW exhibits unique advantages producing joints with better properties. As a result of active control of the welding temperature and/or cooling rate, FSW has the capability of fabricating steel joints with excellent toughness and strength. For example, unfavorable phase transformations that usu- ally occur during traditional welding can be avoided and favorable phase fractions in advanced steels can be maintained in the weld zone thus avoiding the typical property degradations associated with fusion welding. If phase transformations do occur during FSW of thick steels, optimization of microstructure and properties can be attained by controlling the heat input and post-weld cooling rate.

A High-order coupled compact Integrated RBF Approximation Based Domain Decomposition Algorithm for Second-order Differential Problems

this paper presents a high-order coupled compact integrated RBF(cc IRBF)approximation based domain decomposition(DD)algorithm for the discretisation of second-order differential *** Schwarz DD algorithms,including one-level additive/multiplicative and two-level additive/multiplicative/hybrid,are *** ccIRBF based DD algorithms are analysed with different mesh sizes,numbers of subdomains and overlap sizes for Poisson *** convergence analysis shows that the ccIRBF two-level multiplicative version is the most effective algorithm among various schemes employed ***,the present ccIRBF two-level method converges quite rapidly even when the domain is divided into many subdomains,which shows great promise for either serial or parallel *** practical tests,we then incorporate the ccIRBF into serial and parallel two-level multiplicative *** numerical examples,including those governed by Poisson and Navier-Stokes equations are analysed to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the serial and parallel algorithms implemented with the *** results show:(i)the ccIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms have the capability to reach almost the same solution accuracy level of the ccIRBF-Single domain,which is ideal in terms of computational calculations;(ii)the ccIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms are highly accurate in comparison with standard finite difference,compact finite difference and some other schemes;(iii)the proposed ccIRBF-Serial and-Parallel algorithms may be used as alternatives to solve large-size problems which the ccIRBF-Single domain may not be able to deal *** ability of producing stable and highly accurate results of the proposed serial and parallel schemes is believed to be the contribution of the coarse mesh of the two-level domain decomposition and the ccIRBF *** is noted that the focus of this paper is on the derivation of highly accurate serial and parallel algorithms

the cumulative effects of periodic redox cycling on the mobility of As,Fe,and S from alluvial sediment to groundwater were investigated in bioreactor *** particular sediments from the alluvial floodplain of the mekong Delta River were investigated: matrix A (14 m deep) had a higher pyrite concentration than matrix B (7 m deep) *** present in matrix B but absent in matrix *** the reactors,the sediment suspensions were supplemented with As(III) and SO4^2-,and were subjected to three full-redox cycles entailing phases of nitrogen/cO2,compressed air sparging,and cellobiose *** differences in As concentration and speciation were observed upon redox *** support the fact that initial sediment composition is the main factor controlling arsenic release and its speciation during the redox ***,a high pyrite content associated with a low SO4^2- content resulted in an increase in dissolved As concentrations,mainly in the form of As(III),after anoxic half-cycles;whereas a decrease in As concentrations mainly in the form of As(V),was instead observed after oxic *** addition,oxic conditions were found to be responsible for pyrite and arsenian pyrite oxidation,increasing the As pool available for *** same processes seem to occur in sediment with the presence of gypsum,but,in this case,dissolved As were sequestered by biotic or abiotic redox reactions occurring in the FeeS system,and by specific physico-chemical condition (***).the contrasting results obtained for two sediments sampled from the same core show that many complexes and entangled factors are at work,and further refinement is needed to explain the spatial and temporal variability of As release to groundwater of the mekong River Delta (Vietnam).

A zeolite imidazolate framework,ZIF-8,was synthesized and characterized by dynamic laser light scattering,X-ray powder diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,Fourier transform infrared,atomic absorption spectrophotometry,and nitrogen adsorption *** ZIF-8 was highly crystalline and porous with a surface area of over 1600 m2 /***-crafts acylation of anisole and benzoyl chloride proceeded well in the presence of ZIF-8(2-6 mol%) without the need for an inert *** reaction afforded a selectivity of 93%-95% to the *** solid catalyst can be separated from the reaction mixture by simple centrifugation and reused without significant degradation in catalytic *** was no leaching of active acid species into the reaction solution.

Dietary branched-chain amino acid assessment in broilers from 22 to 35 days of age

Background:Valine and isoleucine are similar in chemical structure and their limitation in broiler chicken *** evaluate their limitation and interactive effects,multivariate assessment nutrition studies for the branched-chain amino acids(BcAA)are needed.A three level(−1,0,+1),three-factor Box-Behnken design study was conducted to assess dietary BcAA ratios to lysine of 65,75,and 85 for valine,58,66,and 74 for isoleucine,and 110,130,and 150 for leucine in male and female Lohman Indian River broilers from 22 to 35 d of ***:Live performance of male broilers was not affected by BcAA ***,male broilers fed increasing isoleucine had improved(P=0.07)carcass yield as leucine and valine were *** broilers had improved body weight gain(P=0.05)and feed conversion(P=0.003)when leucine and isoleucine were at their lowest levels,independent of valine,but increasing leucine impaired live performance and warranted concomitant increases in isoleucine to restore *** dietary isoleucine and valine in female broilers increased breast meat yield(P=0.05),but increasing leucine tended to diminish the ***:the female Lohman Indian River broiler is more sensitive to BcAA diet manipulation than ***,as dietary leucine is increased in female broilers,dietary isoleucine increases were needed to offset the negative *** increases in dietary valine and isoleucine improved breast meat yield in female broilers,but only when birds were fed the lowest dietary leucine.

We report the detection of aγ-ray bubble spanning at least 100deg2 in ultra-high energy(UHE)up to a few PeV in the direction of the star-forming region cygnus X,implying the presence super PeVatron(s)accelerating protons to at least 10 PeV.A log-parabola form with the photon indexΓ(E)=(2.71±0.02)+(0.11±0.02)×log10(E/10 teV)is found fitting the gamma-ray energy spectrum of the bubble *** sources,“hot spots”correlated with very massive molecular clouds,and a quasi-spherical amorphousγ-ray emitter with a sharp central brightening are observed in the *** the core of~0.5°,spatially associating with a region containing massive OB association(cygnus OB2)and a microquasar(cygnus X-3),as well as previously reported multi-teV sources,an enhanced concentration of UHEγ-rays is observed with 2 photons at energies above 1 *** general feature of the bubble,the morphology,and the energy spectrum,are reasonably reproduced by the assumption of a particle accelerator in the core,continuously injecting protons into the ambient medium.

Effect of solidification process parameters on dry sliding wear behavior of AlNiBi alloy

As-cast samples of the Al-3wt.%Ni-lwt.%Bi alloy resulting from the horizontal directional solidification process were subjected to the micro-abrasive wear *** effects of the solidification thermal and microstructural parameters,such as the growth and cooling rates and the cellular and primary dendritic spacings(VL and tR;λ1 and λc;respectively),were evaluated in the wear resistance of the investigated *** tribological parameters analyzed were the wear volume and rate(Vw and Rw).the solidification experiments and the wear tests were carried out by means of a water-cooled horizontal directional solidification device and a rotary-fixed ball wear machine,*** results show lower Vw and Rw values correspond to finer microstructures and the Vw dependence on λ1 is characterized by an experimental mathematical equation.A better distribution of Bi soft droplets and Al3Ni hard intermetallic particles is observed within the finer interdendritic region and,in consequence,the better wear resistance is achieved in as-cast samples with dendritic morphology rather than cellular morphology.A transition of wear mechanism from adhesive to abrasive is observed.
