Inclusions of non-bound amino acids particularly meth.onine,lysine and th.eonine,togeth.r with.th."ideal protein"concept h.ve allowed nutritionists to formulate broiler diets with.reduced crude protein(CP)and increased nutrient density of notionally"essential"amino acids and energy content in recent decades,h.wever,ch.cken-meat production h.s been projected to double between now and 2050,providing incentives to reduce dietary soybean meal inclusions furth.r by tangibly reducing dietary CP and utilising a larger array of non-bound amino *** relatively conservative decreases in dietary CP,in th. order of 20 to 30 g/kg,do not negatively impact broiler performance,furth.r decreases in CP typically compromise broiler performance with.associated increases in carcass lipid *** in carcass lipid deposition suggest ch.nges occur in dietary energy balance,th. mech.nisms of wh.ch.are still not fully understood but discourage th. acceptance of diets with.reductions in CP,Neverth.less,th. groundwork h.s been laid to investigate both.amino acid and non-amino acid limitations and propose facilitative strategies for adoption of tangible dietary CP reductions;consequently,th.se aspects are considered in detail in th.s ***,investigations into reduced dietary CP are epitomised by variability broiler performance due to th. wide range of dietary specifications used and th. many variables th.t sh.uld,or could,be considered in formulation of experimental ***,a h.listic approach.encompassing many factors influencing limitations to th. adoption of tangibly reduced CP diets must be considered if th.y are to be successful in maintaining broiler performance with.ut increasing carcass lipid deposition.

A total of 360 male,off-sex Ross 308 ch.cks were offered 10 dietary treatments from 14 to 35 d post eh.tch.in an equilateral-triangle response surface design feeding study in order to confirm th. importance of protein and amino acid digestive dynamics in broiler *** 3 apical diets were nutritionally-equivalent containing eith.r soybean meal,non-bound amino acids or wh.y protein concentrate as th. major source of dietary protein and amino *** blends of th. 3 apical diets comprised th. balance of 7 diets and each.dietary treatment was offered to 6 replicate cages with.6 birds per *** performance,nutrient utilisation,apparent protein and starch.digestibility coefficients were determined in 4 small intestinal *** optimal weigh. gain(2,085 g/bird)and feed conversion ratios(FCR,1.397)were generated by Diet 50S50W wh.ch.included a 50:50 blend of apical diets rich.in wh.y protein concentrate and soybean *** ch.ckens offered Diet 50S50W also h.d th. h.gh.st experimental and predicted jejunal digestibility(0.685 in proximal jejunum and 0.823 in distal jejunum).FCR was not correlated with.apparent distal ileal digestibility coefficient(P>0.05)of protein but was correlated with.apparent protein digestibility in proximal jejunum(r=-0.369,P=0.040)and distal jejunum(r=-0.316,P=0.015).Surplus dietary starch.was correlated with.increased fat pad weigh.(r=0.781,P?0.008).Th. findings confirmed th. relevance of protein digestion rate,reflected by jejunal digestibility,on feed conversion of broiler ch.ckens.A balance between protein-bound and non-bound crystalline or synth.tic amino acids may be required for optimal growth.and protein digestion.

Th. field of workplace learning sch.larsh.p in Western countries is reviewed. First, th. emergence of workplace learning sch.larsh.p is discussed h.storically for its relation to th. emergence and ongoing development of capitalism beginning from early th.ugh. on markets and productivity, 20th.century scientific management, industrialism and post-industrialism th.ses, and finally contemporary conceptual and disciplinary expansion and th. conditions of globalization under late capitalism. Following th.s, six th.matic clusters of research.are discussed in relation to key sch.lars, th.ir primary contributions and th. ways th.t each.can, potentially, inform th.se working in oth.r areas of workplace learning sch.larsh.p. Th.se th.matic clusters include th. following: i. cognition, expertise, and th. individual;ii. micro-interaction, cognition, and communication;iii. mediated practice and participation;iv. meaning, identity, and organization life;v. auth.rity, conflict, and control;and vi. competitiveness and knowledge management. It is concluded th.t no single th.matic cluster h.s establish.d predominance, and th.t th.re is a strong tendency toward isolation or balkanization of research.interests (th.matically, nationally, linguistically, etc.) despite a variety of parallel and/or mutually informing interests.

In th.s study th. starch.digestion rates in broiler ch.ckens from 18 samples of 5 commonly used feed grains(sorgh.m,wh.at,maize,barley,triticale)were *** meth.dology to determine starch.digestion rates in poultry is detailed *** digestion rates were not significantly different(P-0.128)across th. 18 feed grains,wh.ch.reflects th. wide variations th.t were observed with.n a given ***,starch.digestion rates in broiler ch.ckens offered wh.at-based diets were significantly more rapid by 56.0%(0.117 versus 0.075 min-1;p=0.012)th.n th.ir sorgh.m-based counterparts on th. basis of a pair-wise *** descending order,th. following starch.diges-tion rates were observed:wh.at(0.117 min-1),barley(0.104 min-1),triticale(0.093 min-1),maize(0.086 min-1),sorgh.m(0.075 min-1).Th. implications of th.se findings are discussed as th.y almost certainly h.ve implications for poultry nutrition and th. development of reduced crude protein diets for broiler ch.ckens.

Node River,a gravel bed river in th. north.ast part of *** 19 sets of data,14 series of data were used to evaluate th. bed-load transport *** results sh.w th.t th. equations presented by Van Rijn,Meyer-peter and Mueller,and Ackers and Wh.te may adequately predict bedload transport in th. range of field data.
