Contrasting decrease and increase trends of sea surface temperature(SST)have been documented in the western Subarctic(WSA)and the rest of the Northwest Pacific(NWP)from 1958 to 2017,respectively.Consequently,more(less)total carbon dioxide(TCO_(2))due to ocean cooling(warming)is transported to the surface,which leads to increase(decrease)of oceanic surface partial pressure of carbon dioxide(pCO_(2)).With the combined influence of the rising atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2))level and changing ocean conditions,a prominent increase in oceanic surface pCO_(2) occurred with different rates of increase in summer and winter in the NWP.The oceanic surface pCO_(2) is mainly controlled by the variation of TCO_(2) at the interdecadal timescale and by SST at the seasonal timescale.Our results also indicate that increasing SST tends to strengthen the capability of ocean in absorbing anthropogenic CO_(2) in the NWP,while ocean’s uptaking ability is weakened in the cooling area of the WSA.

The South China Sea(SCS)is the largest semi-enclosed marginal sea in the western Pacific.The alternation of East Asian monsoon causes a significant seasonal pattern of chlorophyll,primary productivity,and export flux of sinking particles.However,the source and sink of dissolved organic carbon(DOC)pools with different bioavailability are less studied.Here we evaluated the seasonal production of DOC in labile,semi-labile and refractory forms using a coupled physical-biogeochemical model.This study aims to understand the dynamics and budgets of organic matters in the SCS.Model results show that the production of labile,semi-labile and refractory DOC is highly correlated with the net primary productivity(NPP)which is higher in winter and lower in summer,reflecting a dependence of DOC on the NPP.The seasonal variation in Pearl River discharge dominates the DOC production in the northern coastal region.In the northeast,the Kuroshio intrusion associated frontal system is attributed to cause high winter production.The DOC production in the southwest is controlled by both winter mixing and summer upwelling.The production of refractory DOC with the least bioavailability favors carbon sequestration.Its annual mean production is 1.8±0.5 mg C m^(−2) d^(−1),equivalent to 26%of the export flux of particulate organic carbon at 1000 m.

This study aims to investigate Lorentz/U(1)gauge symmetry-breaking electrodynamics in the framework of the standard-model extension and analyze the Hamiltonian structure for the theory with a specific dimension of Lorentz breaking operators.For this purpose,we consider a general quadratic action of the modified electrodynamics with Lorentz/gauge-breaking operators and calculate the number of independent components of the operators at different dimensions in gauge invariance and breaking.With this general action,we then analyze how Lorentz/gauge symmetry-breaking can change the Hamiltonian structure of the theories by considering Lorentz/gauge-breaking operators with dimension as examples.We show that the Lorentz-breaking operators with gauge invariance do not change the classes of the theory constrains and the number of physical degrees of freedom of the standard Maxwell electrodynamics.When U(1)gauge symmetry-breaking operators are present,the theories generally lack a first-class constraint and have one additional physical degree of freedom compared to the standard Maxwell electrodynamics.

Fourier ptychographic microscopy(FPM)is a newly developed imaging technique which stands out by virtue of its high-resolution and wide FOV.It improves a microscope's imaging perfor-mance beyond the diffraction limit of the employed optical components by illuminating the sample with oblique waves of different incident angles,similar to the concept of synthetic aperture.We propose to use an objective lens with high-NA to generate oblique illuminating waves in FPM.We demonstrate utilizing an objective lens with higher NA to iluminate the sample leads to better resolution by simulations,in which a resolution of 0.28 pum is achieved by using a high-NA illuminating objective lens(NA=1.49)and a low-NA collecting objective lens(NA=0.2)in coherent imaging(λ=488 nm).We then deeply study FPM's exact relevance of convergence speed to spatial spectrum overlap in frequency domain.The simulation results show that an overlap of about 60%is the optimal choice to acquire a high-quality recovery(520*520 pixels)with about 2 min's computing time.In addition,we testify the robustness of the algorithm of FPM to additive noises and its suitability for phase objects,which further proves FPM's potential application in biomedical imaging.

偶氮染料是纺织印染工业废水中的主要污染物,其大量排放会严重危害生物健康。为了开发一类有效的纳米催化剂对废水中的偶氮染料进行脱色,本文采用简单的水热合成法将Fe、Co元素掺杂到镍纳米材料中形成了具有三维网状多孔结构的三元金属纳米材料(Fe-Co-Ni NPs)。所制备的三元合金纳米材料为三维网状结构,少量的Fe、Co元素掺杂获得了更高的饱和磁化率,而未改变镍的多晶结构。在硼氢化钠存在条件下,由于多种金属元素之间的相互作用,Fe-Co-Ni NPs对刚果红的还原降解具有非常高的催化活性,2 min即可完全脱色,表观速率常数为1.24 min^(−1),明显优于二元Fe-Ni(1.00 min^(−1))、Co-Ni(0.96 min^(−1))及单金属Ni(0.83 min^(−1))纳米晶。Fe-Co-Ni NPs对其它偶氮染料甲基橙、直接红80及硝基苯酚类物质的还原降解也表现出较佳的催化性能。总之,该三元金属催化剂易于合成、成本低,对偶氮染料脱色效果好、稳定性高且可重复使用,非常适合工业偶氮废水的前期脱色处理。

Hierarchical Micropore/Nanorod Apatite Hybrids In-Situ Grown from 3-D Printed Macroporous Ti6Al4V Implants with Improved Bioactivity and Osseointegration

The advent of three-dimensional （3-D） printed technique provides great possibility in the fabrication of customized porous titanium （Ti） implant. However, the bioinert property of the printed Ti poses an out- standing problem. Hybrid micro-arc oxidation and hydrothermal （MAO-HT） treatment on porous metals is able to produce multi-scaled hierarchical orthopedic implant, showing great potential for surface mod- ification of 3-D printed implant. In this study, cylindrical porous Ti6Al4V （Ti64） scaffolds with pore size of 640 lure, porosity of ？3% were 3-D printed by electron beam melting process, and their surfaces were left untreated or treated by a combined MAO-HT procedure. In vitro bioactivity was tested by immer- sion in simulated body fluid for different time points. Then, 12 scaffolds in each group were implanted into the femoral condyles of New Zealand rabbit for 8 weeks. Osseointegration was evaluated by qual- itative and quantitative histological analysis, and the bone ingrowth features were probed by sequential fluorescent labeling at 3 and 6 weeks post-surgery, Following the MAO-HT treatment, the porous Ti64 scaffold was endowed with multi-scaled micro/nano-topographies and high amounts of CaP on its surface. The treated scaffold exhibited drastically enhanced apatite forming ability compared with the un- treated one. In vivo test revealed significantly that a higher amount of bone ingrowth and bone implant contact at the treated scaffold. The 2 types of scaffolds had different patterns of bone ingrowth; the treated scaffold exhibited a pattern of contact osteogenesis, by which bone formed directly on the treated implant surface, whereas bone formed distal to the implant surface of the untreated scaffold. MAO-HT treat- ment can significantly enhance the in vitro apatite-inducing ability and in vivo osseointegration capacity of 3-D porous Ti64 scaffold and may provide as a viable approach for the fabrication of bioactive 3-D printed porous implant for orthopedic applications.

A Case-control Study of Environmental Risk Factors for Nonsyndromic Cleft of the Lip and/or Palate in Xuzhou,China

In this study, we sought to determine the association between environmental factors and nonsyndromic cleft of the lip and/or palate （NSCLP） to understand the etiology of the disease. A total of 200 NSCLP cases and 327 controls were recruited at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Xuzhou City. We conducted face-to-face interviews with the mothers of both cases and controls. The factors increasing the risk of NSCLP were a positive family history [odds ratio （OR）=56.74], pesticide exposure （OR=8.90）, and indoor decoration pollution （OR= 4.32）. On the other hand, the factors decreasing the risk of NSCLP were a high education level （OR=0.22） and supplementation of folic acid （OR=0.23） and multivitamins （OR=0.16）. Positive family history, pesticide exposure, and indoor decoration pollution are associated with the risk of NSCLP. In contrast, high education level and folic acid and multivitamin supplementation are protective factors against NSCLP.

本文报道2例患者均有鸽子接触史,表现为发热、乏力、呼吸困难,1例患者病情进展较快,于发病第4天出现急性呼吸窘迫综合征,需无创呼吸机辅助通气。2例患者白细胞计数轻度升高,淋巴细胞百分比降低,血小板计数正常,降钙素原升高,C反应蛋白明显升高,丙氨酸氨基转移酶及天门冬氨酸氨基转移酶不同程度升高,血清钠、钾、白蛋白降低,1例红细胞沉降率(ESR)正常,1例轻度升高,血、肺泡灌洗液常规培养及血清学检查未能明确病原体。胸部X射线、计算机断层成像(CT)表现为一侧肺叶大片渗出和实变,严重者进展快,累及双侧肺叶,出现呼吸衰竭,经验性使用抗生素效果不佳。及时采用宏基因组二代测序(mNGS)技术并结合鸟类接触史,最终确诊为鹦鹉热衣原体肺炎,采用喹诺酮类联合四环素类抗生素治疗后,患者症状、体征和影像学异常均明显好转,但1例患者影像学吸收不佳,进一步联合大环内酯类抗生素治疗1周,随访复查胸部CT,病灶基本吸收。通过分析该2例患者的临床特点、诊断及治疗过程,为临床诊治该类疾病提供参考。

Liver cancer, a large proportion of which is hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), is diagnosed in more than 700000 people each year worldwide. Liver cancer is particularly prevalent in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the South Pacific, where hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection rates are very high. However, due to resistance to chemotherapy, patients with intermediate and advanced-stage disease cannot benefit from this treatment. Clusterin, which is overexpressed in many different cancers, is a stress-induced cytoprotective protein that confers treatment resistance. Custirsen(OGX-011) is a novel 2'-methoxyethyl modified phosphorothioate antisense oligonucleotide that targets secretory clusterin protein expression and is currently in clinical trials for patients with different cancers. In recent years, a number of different clinical trials have been performed, and two phase Ⅲ clinical trials of custirsen evaluating combinations with chemotherapy in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and metastatic non-small cell lung cancer are currently in progress. The aims of this review are to summarize the current state of research on clusterin, predict future research directions and analyze the potential of the clinical application of custirsen in HCC.
