Realizing large strain at low electric field in Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)-based piezoelectric ceramics via engineering lattice distortion and domain structure

Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)-based ceramics are the mainstream materials for commercial multilayer piezoelectric ceramic actuators,but to date,large strains at low electric fields have not been well ***,0.95Pb(Zr_(0.56)Ti_(0.44))O_(3)–0.05(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5))TiO_(3–x)BaZrO_(3)(PZT–BNT–xBZ)ceramics with efficient ferroelectric domain wall motion were designed and realized by reducing lattice distortion and changing the domain *** is found that the introduction of BaZrO_(3)(BZ)weakens the tetragonal phase distortion of PZT,contributing to a reduction in the mechanical stress that impedes the migration of domain ***,the domain structures could be modified by adjusting the BZ content,where short and broad striped domains are constructed with high amplitude characteristics to enhance the domain wall motion.A large strain of 0.39%is accordingly achieved at an electric field as low as 40 kV/cm for the sample with x=0.03,accompanied by excellent temperature stability over the temperature range of 30–210℃.This study delves into the synergistic effects of reducing lattice distortion and changing domain structure on domain wall motion and provides an effective strategy to improve the strain of PZT-based piezoelectric ceramics.

In order to improve the cycling stability of AB5 type alloy electrodes,rapid quenching technology and new alloy composition design were employed.A hydrogen storage alloy with nominal composition La0.6Ce0.4Ni3.6Co0.65Mn0.4Al0.2Ti0.05（FeB）0.1 was prepared by vacuum magnetic levitation melting under high purity argon atmosphere,followed by rapid quenching at different cooling *** results show that all alloys exhibit the single-phase CaCu5-type *** tests indicate that rapid quenching can slightly improve the cycling life of the ***,the high-rate dischargeability of the quenched alloys is lower than that of the as-cast alloy.

In situ generation of oxyanions-decorated cobalt(nickel)oxyhydroxide catalyst with high corrosion resistance for stable and efficient seawater oxidation

The development of efficient and robust anode materials for stable alkaline seawater electrolysis is severely limited by chlorine evolution reaction and chloride ***,the sulfur-doped cobalt-nickel bimetallic phosphides(CoNiPS)are specifically designed as a pre-catalyst for navigating a surface reconstruction to fabricate the anions(PO^(3-)_(4) and SO^(2-)_(4))-decorated Co(Ni)OOH catalyst(R-CoNiPS)with exceptional durability and high activity for stable alkaline seawater oxidation(ASO).Various experiment techniques together with theoretical simulations both demonstrate that the in situ-generated PO^(3-)_(4) and SO^(2-)_(4) anions on catalyst surface can improve the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)activity,regulating and stabilizing the catalytic active species Co(Ni)OOH,as well as make a critical role in inhibiting the adsorp-tion of chloride ions and extending the service life of ***,this R-CoNiPS electrode exhi-bits superb OER activity toward AsO and stands out among the non-precious ASO electrocatalysts reported recently,requiring low overpotentials of 420 and 440 mV to attain large current densities of 500 and 1000 mA cm^(-2) in an alkaline natural seawater electrolyte,***,the catalyst displays a negligible chloride corrosion at room temperature during ASO operation(>200 h)at 500 mA cm^(-2).This work opens up a new viewpoint for designing high-activity and durable electrocata-lystsforseawaterelectrolysis.

Upgraded data service system for HT-7 Tokamak

A data service system plays an indispensable role in HT-7 Tokamak experiment. Since the former system doesn’t provide the function of timely data procession and analysis, and all client software are based on Windows, it can’t fulfill virtual fusion laboratory for remote researchers. Therefore, a new system which is simplified by three kinds of data servers and one data analysis and visualization software tool has been developed. The data servers in-clude a data acquisition server based on file system, an MDSplus server used as the central repository for analysis data, and a web server. Users who prefer the convenience of application that can be run in a Web Browser can easily access the experiment data without knowing X-Windows. In order to adjust instruments to control experiment the operators need to plot data duly as soon as they are gathered. To satisfy their requirement, an upgraded data analysis and visualization software GT-7 is developed. It not only makes 2D data visualization more efficient, but also it can be capable of processing, analyzing and displaying interactive 2D and 3D graph of raw, analyzed data by the format of ASCII, LZO and MDSplus.

Combining nitrogen effects and metabolomics to reveal the response mechanisms to nitrogen stress and the potential for nitrogen reduction in maize

The physiological and metabolic differences in maize under different nitrogen(N)levels are the basis of reasonable N management,which is vital in improving fertilizer utilization and reducing environmental *** this paper,on the premise of defining the N fertilizer efficiency and yield under different long-term N fertilization treatments,the corresponding differential metabolites and their metabolic pathways were analyzed by untargeted metabolomics in maize.N stress,including deficiency and excess,affects the balance of carbon(C)metabolism and N metabolism by regulating C metabolites(sugar alcohols and tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle intermediates)and N metabolites(various amino acids and their derivatives).L-alanine,L-phenylalanine,L-histidine,and L-glutamine decreased under N deficiency,and L-valine,proline,and L-histidine increased under N *** addition to sugar alcohols and the above amino acids in C and N metabolism,differential secondary metabolites,flavonoids(e.g.,kaempferol,luteolin,rutin,and diosmetin),and hormones(e.g.,indoleacetic acid,trans-zeatin,and jasmonic acid)were initially considered as indicators for N stress diagnosis under this experimental *** study also indicated that the leaf metabolic levels of N2(120 kg ha–1 N)and N3(180 kg ha–1 N)were similar,consistent with the differences in their physiological indexes and yields over 12 *** study verified the feasibility of reducing N fertilization from 180 kg ha–1(locally recommended)to 120 kg ha–1 at the metabolic level,which provided a mechanistic basis for reducing N fertilization without reducing yield,further improving the N utilization rate and protecting the ecological environment.

Target-tracked prioritization to surveille ballistic missiles

The missile-tracked priority assessment for the early warning system monitoring multi-missile very well, is the first task to defend them and useful to perform optimally the sensor-to-missile assignment. The problem of the missile-tracked priority assessment is of incomplete information, of multi-attribute and dynamic. To solve the dificult problem, the index system, which includes six classification indices, is established by means of reducing the target＇s primary information which the early warning system focuses on. The lack of some attributes values, which is caused by the incomplete information, is handled by the approach： first classifying each attribute as unknown one or known one, and then subdividing the latter, last using the expectation and the information entropy if the attribute is known but uncertain. With a view of reality, nine qualitative evaluation criteria are given. Based on them each index is quantified by the eigenvector method. And then based on the improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution （TOPSIS）, the targets-tracked priorities are assessed and sorted by an evaluation function from three aspects： 1） the quantity of the available information, 2） the affirmative or accurate degree of the available information, 3） the classification or trait of the available information.

Effect of Cryogenic and QPQ Compound Treatment on the Microstructures and Performance of High Speed Steel

China’s High-speed steel cutting tools hold a considerable share in the global market. However, the overproduction of low-end HSS tools causes serious resource waste and low efficiency, which has become one of the major problems in the tool industry in China. So a new Surface Modification technology is developed, which can make the low-end HSS tools into the high-end ones. On the analysis of the mechanism of cryogenic and quenching-polish-quenching(QPQ), the cryogenic and QPQ compound treatment are studied by using ?8 HSS(M2) drills. The nitriding layer and the base of the drill bit are Studied and analyzed, and the mechanism of compound treatment is discussed by the technological parameters adjustment and the combination test of cryogenic, nitrogen, tempering procedures, and several analysis methods such as the optics metallographic microscope, the scanning electronic microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction and micro hardness. The cutting test is done on the drills by cryogenic treatment, QPQ treatment and cryogenic and QPQ compound treatment separately. The results indicates that the cutting life of HSS (M2) drill can be increased dramatically by cryogenic and QPQ compound treatment.

Winter Arctic warming and its linkage with midlatitude atmospheric circulation and associated cold extremes: The key role of meridional potential vorticity gradient

The surface air temperature over the Eurasian continent has exhibited a significant cooling trend in recent decades(1990–2013), which has occurred simultaneously with Arctic warming and Arctic sea ice loss. While many studies demonstrated that midlatitude cold extremes are linked to Arctic warming and Arctic sea ice loss, some studies suggest that they are *** causal relationship between midlatitude cold extremes and Arctic change is uncertain, and it is thus an unsolved and difficult issue. It has been widely recognized that the severity and location of midlatitude cold extremes are closely related to the persistence, location and movement of blocking systems. It might be possible that the Arctic sea ice decline or the Arctic’s warming influences midlatitude cold extremes by changing the blocking system. This paper reviews the recent research advances on the linkages between the blocking system and Arctic warming. The nonlinear multiscale interaction model of luo et *** that the magnitude of the meridional gradient(PVy) of the background potential vorticity(PV) is a key parameter that reflects changes in the dispersion and nonlinearity of the blocking system. It was found that Arctic warming played a role in reducing the dispersion of the blocking system and enhancing its nonlinearity by reducing the magnitude of PVy. A small PVyis a favorable background condition for increasing the duration of blocking events and producing midlatitude cold ***, because the magnitude of PVyreflects the difference between the background PVof the Arctic high latitudes and the midlatitude continent, the occurrence of midlatitude cold extremes not only depends on an anomalous background PVover Arctic high latitudes but also on its value over the midlatitudes. Thus, Arctic warming or sea ice decline is not necessary for the occurrence of midlatitude cold extremes.
