Post-traumatic peritendinous adhesion presents a significant challenge in clinical *** study proposes the use of diamond-like carbon(DLC)deposited on polylactic acid(PLA)membranes as a biophysical mechanism for anti-adhesion barrier to encase ruptured tendons in tendon-injured *** results indicate that PLA/DLC composite membrane exhibits more efficient anti-adhesion effect than PLA membrane,with histological score decreasing from 3.12±0.27 to 2.20±0.22 and anti-adhesion effectiveness increasing from 21.61%to 44.72%.Mechanistically,the abundant C=O bond functional groups on the surface of DLC can reduce reactive oxygen species level effectively;thus,the phosphorylation of NF-κb and M1 polarization of macrophages are ***,excessive inflammatory response augmented by M1 macrophage-originated cytokines including interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)is largely *** biocompatibility evaluation,PLA/DLC membrane is slowly absorbed within tissue and displays prolonged barrier effects compared to traditional PLA *** studies show the DLC depositing decelerates the release of degradation product lactic acid and its induction of macrophage M2 polarization by interfering esterase and PLA ester bonds,which further delays the fibrosis *** was found that the PLA/DLC membrane possess an efficient biophysical mechanism for treatment of peritendinous adhesion.

The paper presents the results of the sterlet sturgeon Acipenser ruthenus reintroduction into the Kama Reservoir(Perm Krai,Russia)by sterlet fry from hatcheries into the reservoir since *** effectiveness of hatchery releases was evaluated by monitoring gillnet sampling *** results showed that the species was reported throughout entire Kama Reservoir,which contrasts with 1988-1994 data,when the species was registered only at the upper part of the reservoir near the Kama River *** highest number and biomass values of catch per unit effort(CPUE)of the sterlet were found in submerged river channels-the deepest habitats with flow conditions which are close to the ecological requirements of the *** distribution of the sterlet within the channel biotopes of the reservoir is defined by reduced *** biggest individuals and the widest size range of the sterlet were typical for the upper area of the reservoir and Chusovskoy bay,which have the greatest *** smallest sizes were typical for fish from catches near the dam of the reservoir,which is consistent with the published data on the distribution of sterlet in reservoir *** presented results may indicate the artificial formation of the sterlet stock in the Kama Reservoir maintained by hatchery *** revealed distribution of the sterlet in the reservoir determines the direction of further research on natural reproduction and thus formation of an artificially formed ***,future studies are required to assess the possibility of hybridization of the sterlet of artificial origin with natural populations of the species,since the low genetic diversity of the sterlet released into the Kama Reservoir which can lead to irreversible loss of genetic individuality of the natural stocks of the species in the catchment of upper course of the Kama River.

The paper presents the experimental research findings for the patterns of collisions of water droplets with pressed tableted samples used as substrates and with small particles of a pyrolyzing solid *** coal samples were ***-substrate interactions were studied when varying the droplet diameter in the range from 1 to 4 mm and velocity from 0.5 to 4 m/*** corresponded to the Weber number range of *** coal tablet surface temperature was varied from 20 to 700℃.In the interactions of water droplets(0.7-1.5 mm in diameter,pre-collision velocity from 1 to 3 m/s)with coal particles(with a size of 0.2-1 mm,pre-collision velocity 0.7-2 m/s),the temperature of the latter was varied in the range of 330-480℃.The following regimes of the interaction of droplets with solid particles during chemical reactions and phase transformations were distinguished:spreading/agglomeration and break-up/*** in the characteristics of the interaction of water droplets with coal particles at varying temperatures were ***-particle interaction regime maps for b(We),We(Oh)and We(Ca)were *** collision regime boundaries were described using fitted curves that can be utilized to develop the existing mathematical models of droplet-particle collisions in *** was established that the gaseous volatile production in coal pyrolysis has a modest effect on the regimes and characteristics of the droplet destruction in the temperature range under consideration(20-700℃).

bACKGROUND： The differential diagnosis of many neurodegenerative disorders depends primarily on clinical symptoms together with imaging methods. Recently, increased importance has been placed on the use of biomarkers for diagnosing various neurodegenerative disorders. ObJECTIVE： To assess the feasibility of tau-protein, phosphorylated tau-protein, beta-amyloid 42 （Aβ42）, and 14-3-3 protein as biomarkers for diagnosing several neurodegenerative diseases complicated by cognitive deficits. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A non-randomized, concurrent, case-control investigation was performed in three medical centers in the Czech Republic （Department of Neurology at the University Hospital in Hradec Kralove, Department of Neurology at the 2rd Medical Faculty, and the University Hospital Motol） between October 2000 and November 2006. PARTICIPANTS： Eighteen patients with probable AIzheimer＇s disease, 4 patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, 10 patients with frontotemporal dementia, 9 patients with clinically isolated syndrome suggestive of multiple sclerosis, and 7 patients with multiple sclerosis, as well as 38 race-, nationality-, and age-matched cognitively intact controls, were included in the study. Diagnoses were established based on the following criteria： the criteria for Alzheimer＇s disease proposed by the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke/Alzheimer＇s Disease and Related Disorders Association, WHO criteria for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, Neary criteria for frontotemporal dementia, and McDonald＇s criteria for multiple sclerosis. All included patients were confirmed to suffer from various degrees of dementia. METHODS： Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure concentrations of tau-protein, phosphorylated tau-protein, and Aβ42 in cerebrospinal fluid （CSF） samples collected by standard lumbar puncture from each patient. Patterning Nanoroads and Quantum Dots on Fluorinated Graphene

Using ab initio methods we have investigated the fluorination of graphene and find that different stoichiometric phases can be formed without a nucleation barrier, with the complete ＂2D-Teflon＂ CF phase being thermody- namically most stable. The fluorinated graphene is an insulator and turns out to be a perfect matrix-host for patterning nanoroads and quantum dots of pristine graphene. The electronic and magnetic properties of the nanoroads can be tuned by varying the edge orientation and width. The energy gaps between the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals （HOMO-LUMO） of quantum dots are size-dependent and show a confinement typical of Dirac fermions. Furthermore, we study the effect of different basic coverage of F on graphene （with stoichiometries CF and C4F） on the band gaps, and show the suitability of these materials to host quantum dots of graphene with unique electronic properties.

Coalification temperatures are often considered to be approximately 100-170 ℃ for bituminous coal and 170-275 ℃ for anthracite. However, our micropetrographic observations, solid state ^27Al magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance measurements, interpretation of δ^13C values for whewellite in pelosiderite concretions from Carboniferous sediments, and assessment of whewellite thermal stability show that coalification temperatures can be significantly lower. Also the temperatures of coal alteration may be substantially lower than is stated. Ordinarily, high- temperature alteration is reported, but microthermometric measurements of fluids temperatures and micropetrographic observations show that the coal alteration can take place at low temperatures. For this reason, coals from the Kladno- Rakovnik basin, part of Late Paleozoic continental basins of the Czech Republic, were analyzed. Regarding coalification, micropetrographic characterizations of unaltered coals, the presence of thermally unstable Al complexes in the coal organic mass documented using ^27Al MAS NMR method, and proven occurrence of whewellite in pelosiderite concretions suggest a lower coalification temperature, max. -70 ℃. Regarding coal alteration, micropetrographic observations revealed （a） the weaker intensity of fluorescence of liptinite, （b） mylonitic structures and microbreccia with carbonate fluid penetration, and （c） high oxygen content in coals （37-38 wt.%）. These phenomena are typical for thermal and oxidative alteration of coal. As the temperature of carbonate fluids inferred from fluid inclusion analysis was evaluated as -100-113 ℃, the temperature of coal alteration was suggested as -113℃; the alteration was caused by hot hydrothermal fluids.

Direct growth of graphene on insulators is expected to yield significant improvements in performance of graphene-based electronic and spintronic devices. In this study, we successfully reveal the atomic arrangement and electronic properties of a coherent heterostructure of single-layer graphene and α-Al2O3（0001）. The analysis of the atomic arrangement of single-layer graphene on α-Al2O3（0001） revealed an apparentcontradiction. The in-plane analysis shows that single-layer graphene grows not in a single-crystalline epitaxial manner, but rather in polycrystalline form, with two strongly pronounced preferred orientations. This suggests relatively weak interfacial interactions are operative. However, we demonstrate that unusually strong physical interactions between graphene and α-Al2O3（0001） exist, as evidenced by the small separation between the graphene and the α-Al2O3（0001） surface. The interfacial interaction is shown to be dominated by the electrostatic forces involved in the graphene n-system and the unsaturated electrons of the topmost O layer of α-Al2O3（0001）, rather than the van der Waals interactions. Such features causes graphene hole doping and enable the graphene to slide on the α-Al2O3（0001） surface with only a small energy barrier despite the strong interfacial interactions.
