The Antarctic Paleogene marine fossil record has been the key to reconstructing the evolution of the Weddellian sea and final dismemberment of southern *** this context,Eocene marine vertebrates from seymour(Marambio)Island have provided valuable *** present the first Eocene record of marine reptiles from the southern Atlantic Coast of south *** corresponds to several postcranial turtle remains represented by a proximal end of the right humerus,three caudal and one thoracic vertebrae,a fragment of the left pubis,and ten ossicles of the dorsal carapace,coming from the Leticia Formation(late-mid Eocene)at Cabo Tiburones,Tierra del Fuego,*** materials show severalfeatures such as the size and general morphology of the humerus and vertebrae,and the presence of relatively small,irregular,smooth,and unkeeled ossicles,which allow us to assign them to Dermochelyidae *** are a cosmopolitan group ofcryptodiran turtles,registered from the late Cretaceous up to the recent,with some physiological-biological peculiarities(e.g.,endothermy and an exclusive jellyfish-based diet)and characterized by the presence of an osseous carapace formed by *** new finding from the Leticia Formation is an addition to the scarce and extremely fragmentary record of Eocene dermochelyids from the southern seas like those from the La Meseta and submeseta formations(Antarctica)and the Waihao and Burnside formations(New Zealand).This new information allows us to discuss the presence of these turtles in such high latitudes in the past and its implication in the evolution of the Weddellian fauna.

Transcriptomic responses to drought stress in the Patagonian southern beech Nothofagus alpina

Background Deciphering the genetic architecture of drought tolerance could allow the candidate genes identification responding to water stress. In the Andean Patagonian forest, the genus Nothofagus represents an ecologically relevant species to be included in different genomic studies. These studies are scarce in south American ecosystems however represent an important source of genomic data in order to interpret future climate-change environment scenarios of these emblematic forests. Here, we achieved the assemblage of the transcriptome of N. alpina while searching for key genes of activated or suppressed metabolic pathways in response to drought *** De novo transcriptome assembly resulted in 104,030 transcripts. Following confirmation of drought conditions, based on reduction of leaf water potential and stomatal conductance, a differential gene expression analysis resulted in 2720 significantly expressed genes(1601 up-regulated and 1119 down-regulated). Enrichment analysis(over-representation analysis and gene set enrichment analysis) resulted in more than one hundred stress-responsive term ontologies(i.e. biological processes) and pathways. Terms such as response to abscisic acid and pathways such as plant hormone signal transduction or starch and sucrose metabolism were over-represented. Protein–protein interaction assessment resulted in networks with significantly expressed top common hub gene clusters(e.g. planttype cell wall biogenesis among down-regulated or ABA-signalling among up-regulated). These networks evidenced important regulators at gene expression such as transcriptional *** Responses of N. alpina seedlings to drought stress were evidenced by the activation of several genes linked to GO biological processes and KEGG pathways, which were mainly based on over-expression of specific protein kinases, phosphatases, synthases and transcription factors. Perceived value of microfinance and sME performance: The role of exploratory innovation

This study examines how perceived value of microfinance and exploratory innovation affect small and medium-sized enterprises(sME)performance in the context of a developing *** on the strategic innovation and microfinance literature,we hypothesize that(1)perceived value of microfinance affects exploratory innovation and sME performance,and(2)exploratory innovation serves as an effective mechanism through which microfinance enhances sME *** employ partial least squares structural equation modeling(PLs-sEM)to test our *** a sample of 581 Ghanaian sMEs with microfinance,the results of the PLs sEM support our *** further conducted a qualitative analysis of comments provided by the sMEs(n=144)to gain a deeper understanding of exploratory innovation in developing *** findings show that sMEs purposefully attempt to strengthen their exploratory inno-vation in *** discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings as well as future research avenues.

Hepatocellular Ballooning is Due to Highly Pronounced Glycogenosis Potentially Associated with steatosis and Metabolic Reprogramming

Background and Aims:Hepatocellular ballooning is a common finding in chronic liver disease,mainly characterized by rarefied cytoplasm that often contains Mallory-Denk bodies(MDB).Ballooning has mostly been attributed to degeneration but its striking resemblance to glycogenotic/steatotic changes characterizing preneoplastic hepatocellular lesions in animal models and chronic human liver diseases prompts the question whether ballooned hepatocytes(BH)are damaged cells on the path to death or rather viable cells,possibly involved in neoplastic ***:Using specimens from 96 cirrhotic human livers,BH characteristics were assessed for their glycogen/lipid stores,enzyme activities,and proto-oncogenic signaling cascades by enzyme-and immunohistochemical approaches with serial paraffin and cryostat ***:BH were present in 43.8%of cirrhotic *** pronounced excess glycogen storage of(glycogenosis)and/or lipids(steatosis)were characteristic,ground glass features and MDB were often *** glucose-6-phosphatase,increased glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity and altered immunoreactivity of enzymes involved in glycolysis,lipid metabolism,and cholesterol biosynthesis were ***,components of the insulin signaling cascade were upregulated along with insulin dependent glucose transporter glucose transporter 4 and the v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog/mammalian target of rapamycin signaling pathway associated with de novo ***:BH are hallmarked by particularly pronounced glycogenosis with facultative steatosis,many of their features being reminiscent of metabolic aberrations documented in preneoplastic hepatocellular lesions in experimental animals and chronic human liver ***,BH are not damaged entities facing death but rather viable cells featuring metabolic reprogramming,indicative of a preneoplastic nature.

Monoamine Oxidase-B Inhibitor Rasagiline Effects on Motor and Non-Motor symptoms in Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease: A systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Objective: In the manuscript titled Monoamine Oxidase-B Inhibitor Rasagiline Effects on Motor and Non-Motor symptoms in Individuals with Parkinsons Disease: A systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, the objective was to conduct a systematic review with meta-analysis to investigate the effects that Rasagiline has on motor and non-motor symptoms in individuals with PD. Introduction: Rasagiline is a second-generation monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) inhibitor used both as monotherapy and adjunctive therapy for Parkinsons Disease (PD). Methods: A systematic literature search and meta-analysis were performed with randomized control trials that investigated the effects of Rasagiline on motor and non-motor symptoms in individuals with PD. The systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane, and EBsCO databases. Methodological quality was assessed using the Cochrane Grading Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach. Results: Fourteen studies were included in our review. There were trivial to small and statistically significant improvements in motor symptoms for individuals with PD treated with Rasagiline compared to placebo. Non-motor symptoms showed no significant improvement with Rasagiline compared to placebo in five of six meta-analyses. Results were based on very low to moderate certainty of evidence. Conclusion: 1 mg/day Rasagiline significantly improved Parkinsonian motor symptoms in individuals with PD compared with placebo. For all outcomes, the 1 mg/day Rasagiline group was favored over the placebo group.

Background:There is mounting evidence that regular physical activity is an important prerequisite for healthy cognitive ***,the finding that almost one-third of the adult population does not reach the recommended level of regular physical activity calls for further public health *** this context,digital and home-based physical training interventions might be a promising alternative to center-based intervention ***,this systematic review aimed to summarize the current state of the literature on the effects of digital and home-based physical training interventions on adult cognitive ***:In this pre-registered systematic review(PROsPERO;ID:CRD42022320031),5 electronic databases(PubMed,Web of science,Psyclnfo,sPORTDiscus,and Cochrane Library)were searched by 2 independent researchers(FH and PT)to identify eligible studies investigating the effects of digital and home-based physical training interventions on cognitive performance in *** systematic literature search yielded 8258 records(extra17 records from other sources),of which 27 controlled trials were considered *** reviewers(FH and PT)independently extracted data and assessed the risk of bias using a modified version of the Tool for the assEssment of study qualiTy and reporting in EXercise(TEsTEX scale).Results:Of the 27 reviewed studies,15 reported positive effects on cognitive and motor-cognitive outcomes(i.e.,performance improvements in measures of executive functions,working memory,and choice stepping reaction test),and a considerable heterogeneity concerning study-related,population-related,and intervention-related characteristics was noticed.A more detailed analysis suggests that,in particular,interventions using online classes and technology-based exercise devices(i.e.,step-based exergames)can improve cognitive performance in healthy older *** one-half of the reviewed studies were rated as having a high risk of bias with respect

Histological Assessment of Bone Regeneration in the Maxilla with Homologous Bone Graft:A Feasible Option for Maxillary Bone Reconstruction
