The instablity of the stimulation of photosynthate unloading from seed coats of Phaseolus vulgaris by abscisic acid (ABA ) and benzylamino purine ( BAP ) was studied in terms of experimental conditions. ABA stimulated photosynthate unloading at pH 6 and pH 8 without close dependence upon pH. ABA at a concentration range of 10-5-10-4 mol/L displayed stimulatory effect. However, BAP revealed no effect at a concentration range of 10-6-10-4 mol/L. Experiments designed with different transport time of 14C-photosynthate indicated that ABA might act at the plasma membrane of the unloading cells. Reducing endogenous ABA level by diminishing leaf area did not facilitate the manifestation of exogenous ABA function. Potassium ion stimulated photosynthate unloading from seed coats with highest promotion at 100 mmol/L K+. However, no dependence of ABA stimulation of photosynthate unloading on K+ was found.

This study compares the physical activity levels and enjoyment of parents(n=50;age=41.8±4.0 years)during outdoor,self-paced walking sessions while walking alone and when walking with their 6-to-12-year-old *** counts,moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA),vigorous physical activity,and enjoyment were compared using paired *** modeling was used to examine the impact of children's age and adults'and children's body mass index on the disparity in step counts experienced by *** attained high percentages of time spent in MVPA while walking alone(99.8%)and when walking with their child(96.6%).However,more of this time was categorized as vigorous physical activity when walking alone(13.6%vs.3.0%,p=0.006).Adults'step counts decreased by an average of 6.4%while walking with their child compared to walking alone(pn was greater for parents of younger children(p=0.004).In obese adults,the reduction in step counts experienced while walking with their child was not as great as the reduction experienced by normal-weight adults(p=0.042).Although adults obtained higher step counts and vigorous physical activity while walking alone,they enjoyed walking more with their child(pners should be aware of this tradeoff when making recommendations for parent-child co-participation in physical activity,and parents may wish to supplement their physical activity obtained while walking with their child(ren)with additional activities that result in vigorous physical activity.

The tricarboxylic acid （TCA） cycle is a central route for oxidative phosphorylation in cells, and fulfills their bioenergetic, biosynthetic, and redox balance require- ments. Despite early dogma that cancer cells bypass the TCA cycle and primarily utilize aerobic glycolysis, emerging evidence demonstrates that certain cancer cells, especially those with deregulated oncogene and tumor suppressor expression, rely heavily on the TCA cycle for energy production and macromolecule synthesis. As the field progresses, the importance of aberrant TCA cycle function in tumorigenesis and the potentials of applying small molecule inhibitors to perturb the enhanced cycle function for cancer treatment start to evolve. In this review, we summarize current knowledge about the fuels feeding the cycle, effects of oncogenes and tumor suppressors on fuel and cycle usage, common genetic alterations and deregulation of cycle enzymes, and potential therapeutic opportunities for targeting the TCA cycle in cancer cells. With the application of advanced technology and in vivo model organism studies, it is our hope that studies of this previously overlooked biochemical hub will provide fresh insights into cancer metabolism and tumorigenesis, subsequently revealing vulnerabilities for thera- peutic interventions in various cancer types.

The present work tried to develop suitable proportions for the production of Pineapple Leaf Fibers (PALF) reinforced normal Strength Concrete (nSC), an experimental analysis with a mix ratio of 1:1.84:3.27 for cement: fine aggregates: coarse aggregates with constant water to cement ratio of 0.54. The total volume per mixing batch was calculated of 9 cubes + 9 cylinders + 3 beams in order to know the number of materials to be used in casting per batch, and the PALF percentage was taken based on cement weight whereby it starts from the lowest to the maximum as follow 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, and 1%. The tests that were done on fresh concrete were compacting factors and workability using the slump test which was carried out on each fresh mix of concrete. The results showed that PALF can be used to improve the Tensile and Flexural properties of normal Strength Concrete.

In C ?te d’Ivoire, traditional ceramics are widely used in the form of pottery. The latter is used to store food, water and cereals. Analyzes (X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), inductive plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and analysis thermal gravimetric (ATG)) were carried out to determine the morphology, the chemical, physical and pedological constituents of these raw materials. It appears from this study that the clays used in the Mangoro pottery of Katiola contain silica SiO2, alumina Al2O3 and iron oxide Fe2O3 as well as kaolinite, muscovite, smectite and quartz.

An earlier baseline study （Jellason et al. in preparation） has identified some of the key challenges faced by farmers and from that, appropriate Good Agricultural Practices （GAPs） have been selected for the environment the farmers find themselves in and based on a review of available literature. Farmer action plans for enhancing smallholder resilience, GHGs emission mitigation and food security for these dry lands were developed. Expert opinions on the applicability of the selected GAPs to inform farmer co-learning and to validate the suitability of these practices in a dry land context were sought through the Delphi study. Experts were also invited to offer suggestions for improvement of the training action plan. Two rounds of a modified Delphi survey were carried out with experts from diverse backgrounds and locations across the globe to solicit their opinion. Results show that experts＇ agreement was reached on most of the action plan items. The results and opinions obtained from the survey were reviewed and adapted into the action plan leading to the development of GAPs for the co-learning exercise.

Over 2 billion people worldwide are estimated to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(nAFLD),defined by excess hepatic ***,progression into nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(nASH)is characterized by the onset of liver inflammation following exacerbated steatosis.1 This suggests that reducing liver inflammation(*** lifestyle interventions involving exercise training)may come secondary to a reduction of ***,both the metabolic and inflammatory processes involved in nAFLD are under circadian control and could respond differently to exercise at different times of day.2 To investigate the time-of-day–dependent effect of exercise training on nAFLD amelioration in the early disease stages we trained high-fat high-cholesterol(HFHC)-fed APOE*3-Leiden cholesteryl ester transfer protein(CETP)mice during their early or late active *** mouse model was chosen because of its humanized lipid metabolism and its ability to develop all hallmarks of human nAFLD upon HFHC feeding.

In this paper,a set of fractional partial differential equations based on fractional total variation and fractional steepest descent approach are proposed to address the problem of traditional drawbacks of PM and ROF multi-scale denoising for texture *** extending Green,Gauss,Stokes and Euler-Lagrange formulas to fractional field,we can find that the integer formulas are just their special case of fractional *** order to improve the denoising capability,we proposed 4 fractional partial differential equation based multiscale denoising models,and then discussed their stabilities and convergence *** deduction and experimental evaluation demonstrate the stability and astringency of fractional steepest descent approach,and fractional nonlinearly multi-scale denoising capability and best value of parameters are discussed *** experiments results prove that the ability for preserving high-frequency edge and complex texture information of the proposed denoising models are obviously superior to traditional integral based algorithms,especially for texture detail rich images.

Objective: To determine the thin-layer chromatography(TLC) fingerprint profiles and to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts of Muntingia calabura(M. calabura) leaves and ***: The leaves and stems were extracted using ethanol as solvent. The TLC separation of the phytochemical constituents of the leaf and ethanol extracts was carried out in ethyl acetate: n-hexane and chloroform: ethyl acetate mobile phase *** spots were visualized under visible light, UV 254 nm, UV 366 nm and after spraying with vanillin-sulfuric acid. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free-radical scavenging assay was used to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the ***: Both the leaf and stem ethanol extracts at 4 mg/mL exhibited 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl inhibition of more than 90%, relative to gallic acid. The results of TLC showed that the degree of resolution between the constituent spots was comparable between the two mobile phase systems using the different visualization wavelengths. Under the 254 nm visualization, few spots were observed in leaf and stem extracts. Visualization at 366 nm yielded the greatest number of observable spots of various colors in both leaf and stem extracts. More spots were visualized upon post-derivatization with vanillinsulfuric acid in the TLC chromatograms using chloroform: ethyl acetate mobile phase,compared to those in ethyl acetate: n-hexane mobile ***: M. calabura exhibited very high antioxidant activity in its leaves and stems ethanol extracts, both of which are used in traditional medicine. The TLC results demonstrated the presence of diverse secondary metabolites in the leaf and stem ethanol extracts, indicating that the antioxidant activity, including other bioactivities may be attributed to these phytochemical constituents.
