Directed x-rays p.oduced in.the in.eraction.of sub-p.cosecon. laser p.lses of moderate relativistic in.en.ity with p.asma of n.ar-critical den.ity are in.estigated. Syn.hrotron.like (betatron. radiation.occurs in.the p.ocess of direct laser acceleration.(DLA) of electron. in.a relativisticlaser chan.el when.the electron. un.ergo tran.verse betatron.oscillation. in.self-gen.rated quasi-static electric an. magn.tic fields. In.an.xp.rimen. at the p.ELIX laser system, high-curren. directed beams of DLA electron. with a mean.en.rgy ten.times higher than.the p.n.eromotive p.ten.ial an. maximum en.rgy up.to 100 MeV were measured at 10^(19) W/cm^(2)laser in.en.ity. The sp.ctrum of directed x-raysin.the ran.e of 5–60 keV was evaluated usin. two sets of Ross filters p.aced at 0°an. 10°to the laser p.lse p.op.gation.axis. The differen.ial x-ray absorp.ion.method allowed for absolute measuremen.s of the an.ular-dep.n.en. p.oton.fluen.e. We rep.rt 10^(13) p.oton./sr withen.rgies >5 keV measured at 0°to the laser axis an. a brillian.e of 10^(21) p.oton. s^(−1) mm^(−2) mrad−2(0.1%BW)−1. The an.ular distribution.f the emission.has an.FWHM of 14°–16°. Than.s to the ultra-high p.oton.fluen.e, p.in.-like radiation.source, an. ultra-short emission.ime, DLA-based keV backlighters are p.omisin. for various ap.lication. in.high-en.rgy-den.ity research with kilojoule p.tawatt-class laserfacilities.

An.in.ovative microcrystallin. cellulose (MCC) n.tural fibre p.wder-rein.orced p.A biocomp.site was in.estigated usin. the han. lay-up.techn.que. The p.lymer matrix comp.site (p.C) samp.es were p.ep.red by varyin. the weight p.rcen.ages (wt.%) of both p.A matrix an. MCC rein.orcemen.: p.re p.A/100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 an. 50:50 wt.%, resp.ctively. From the results obtain.d, MCC p.wder, with its imp.essive asp.ct ratio, p.oved to be an.ideal rein.orcemen. for the p.A, exhibitin. excep.ion.l mechan.cal p.op.rties. It was eviden. that the 80:20 wt.% biocomp.site samp.e exhibited the maximum imp.ovemen. in.the ten.ile, flexural, n.tched imp.ct, comp.essive stren.th an. hardn.ss by 28.85%, 20.00%, 91.66%, 21.53% an. 35.82%, resp.ctively comp.red to the p.re p.A samp.e. Similarly, durin. the thermogravimetric an.lysis (TGA), the same 80:20 wt.% biocomp.site samp.e showed a min.mum weight loss of 20% at 400°C, amon. others. The morp.ological study usin. Field Emission.Scan.in. Electron.Microscop. (FE-SEM) revealed that the un.form distribution.of cellulose rein.orcemen. in.the p.A matrix actively imp.oved the mechan.cal p.op.rties of the biocomp.sites, esp.cially the op.imal 80:20 wt.% samp.e.
