KLnF_(4):Yb^(3+),er^(3+)/Ho^(3+)(Ln=Y,Yb,Gd)p.osp.ors were p.ep.red by solid-state reaction technique.For each of the Yb^(3+)/er^(3+)and Yb^(3+)/Ho^(3+)co-dop.d p.osp.ors indep.ndently,p.ase confirmation and morp.ological examination were accomp.ished using the X-ray diffraction technique and scanning electron microscop. analysis.X-ray p.otoelectron sp.ctroscop. analysis shows the charge state and existence of lanthanides and dop.nts.Up.onversion luminescence emissions of green and red colour were detected for the synthesized p.osp.ors.The changes in the up.onverted emission intensities and colour outp.t p.rtaining to the change of the lanthanide host matrix along with dop.nts were investigated for the p.ep.red p.osp.ors.In the up.onversion luminescence,erbium-dop.d samp.es exhibit a p.edominance of red emission while holmium-dop.d samp.es disp.ay a p.evalence of green emission.The rare-earth er/Ho dop.d KYbF4shows strong red emission comp.red to other hosts.KYF_(4):Yb,er/Ho exhibits relatively significant green up.onve rsion emissions,while Yb,er-dop.d KGdF_(4)host disp.ays a 10-fold increase in green/red emission ratio with an increase in the inp.t p.wer of 20-780 mW.Downshifting p.otoluminescence studies and decay curve analysis were carried out using UV light excitation for the develop.d p.osp.ors.A higher lifetime of 2.2 ms was measured for the downshifting red emission in the Ho dop.d KYbF_(4)samp.e.This study suggests a p.tential for colour tunability in the up.onversion and downshifting emissions through host modifications to the fluoride p.osp.or.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease, and its p.evalence is rising. NAFLD is closely associated with metabolic syndrome, with both conditions sharing common clinical characteristics such as obesity, insulin resistance, typ. 2 diabetes mellitus, hyp.rtension, and hyp.rtriglyceridemia. Several observational studies have evaluated the relationship.between NAFLD and hyp.rtension, with the overall evidence suggesting a bidirectional relationship. It is hyp.thesized that activation of the symp.thetic nervous and renin-angiotensin systems, observed in NAFLD with or without insulin resistance p.omotes the develop.ent of hyp.rtension. In p.tients with hyp.rtension, activation of these systems can lead to hep.tic fibrosis and p.ogressive inflammation through increased oxidative stress and activation of hep.tic stellate cells and Kup.fer cells. The p.esent review examines the p.thop.ysiologic and clinical evidence sup.orting the bidirectional association between NAFLD and hyp.rtension.

p.ey animals are often faced with uncertainty due to having imp.rfect information regarding current local conditions,including p.edation risks and the availability of reliable foraging op.ortunities(Dall 2010).As this uncertainty increases,the p.obability of making costly behavioral errors also increases,leading to more risk averse behavioral tactics(Feyten et al.2019).For examp.e,Trinidadian gup.ies p.ecilia reticulata are far more risk averse when faced with multip.e unknown sources of risk assessment information than when faced with a mix of known and unknown cues(Feyten et al.2019).p.ey can reduce uncertainty by gathering and integrating p.ivate and social information regarding current risk levels within microhabitats(Dall 2010;Munoz and Blumstein 2012).

Background:Op.imal p.tterns of accrual of recommended levels of p.ysical activity(p.)for p.evention of hyp.rtension and obesity are not known.The overall aim of this study was to investigate whether different p.tterns of accumulation of p. are differentially associated with hyp.rtension and obesity in Australian women over 21 years.Sp.cifically,we investigated whether,for the same weekly volume of p.,the number of sessions(frequency)and vigorousness of p.(intensity)were associated with a reduction in the occurrence of hyp.rtension and obesity in women.methods:Data from the 1973-1978 and 1946-1951 cohorts of the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health were analyzed(n=20,588;12%-16%with a Bachelor's or higher degree).Self-rep.rted p.,hyp.rtension,height,and weight were collected using mail surveys every 3 years from 1998/2000 to 2019/2021.Generalized estimating equation models with a 3-year lag model were used to investigate the association of p. volume(metabolic equivalent min/week)(none;33-499;500-999;≥1000,weekly frequency(none;1-2 times;3-4times;5-7 times;≥8 times),and the p.op.rtion of vigorous p. to total volume of p.(none;0%;1%-33%;34%-66%;67%-100%)with odds of hyp.rtension and obesity from 2000 to 2021.Results:The cumulative incidence of hyp.rtension was 6%in the 1973-1978 and 23%in the 1946-1951 cohort;27%of women in the 1973-1978;and 15%in the 1946-1951 cohort develop.d obesity over the p.riod.Overall,a higher volume of p. was associated with reduced odds of hyp.rtension and obesity.When the volume of p. was considered,the odds of hyp.rtension did not vary according to the frequency or intensity of p..However,increased p.op.rtion of vigorous p. to the total volume of p. was associated with a small additional reduction in the risk of obe sity.Conclusion:p. volume ap.ears to be more imp.rtant than the p.ttern of accumulation for the p.evention of hyp.rtension and obesity.Incorp.rating more sessions,p.rticularly of vigorous-intensity p.,may p.ovide extra benefits for the p.evention of obesity.

Cigarette butts(CBs)are one of the most common typ.s of litter in the world.Due to the toxic substances they contain,the waste generated p.ses a harmful risk to the environment,and therefore there is an urgent need for alternative solutions to landfill storage.Thus,this work p.esents a p.ssible revalorization of this waste material,which imp.ies interesting environmental benefits.CBs were used as sacrificial temp.ates for the p.ep.ration of CaO-based materials by imp.egnation with calcium and magnesium nitrates followed by flaming combustion.These materials p.esented enhanced p.rosity for their use in the Calcium Loop.ng p.ocess ap.lied either to thermochemical energy storage or CO_(2)cap.ure ap.lications.The influence of the concentration of Ca and Mg in the imp.egnating solutions on the multicycle reactivity of the samp.es was studied.An imp.oved multicycle p.rformance was obtained in terms of conversion for both ap.lications.

In recent years,grap.ene field-effect-transistors(GFeTs)have demonstrated an outstanding p.tential for terahertz(THz)p.otodetection due to their fast resp.nse and high-sensitivity.Such features are essential to enable emerging THz ap.lications,including 6G wireless communications,quantum information,bioimaging and security.However,the overall p.rformance of these p.otodetectors may be utterly comp.omised by the imp.ct of internal resistances p.esented in the device,so-called access or p.rasitic resistances.In this work,we p.ovide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the p.otoresp.nse of high-mobility dual-gate GFeT detectors.Such dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)the internal resistance of the device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an imp.oved resp.nsivity and noise-equivalent-p.wer values of the p.otodetector,resp.ctively.Our results can be well understood by a series resistance model,as shown by the excellent agreement found between the exp.rimental data and theoretical calculations.These findings are therefore relevant to understand and imp.ove the overall p.rformance of existing high-mobility grap.ene p.otodetectors.

p.rkinsonism by unilateral,intranigralβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside administration in rats is distinguished in that theα-synuclein insult begins unilaterally but sp.eads bilaterally and increases in severity over time,thus rep.icating several clinical features of p.rkinson’s disease,a typ.calα-synucleinop.thy.As Nurr1 rep.essesα-synuclein,we evaluated whether unilateral transfected of rNurr1-V5 transgene via neurotensin-p.lyp.ex to the substantia nigra on day 30 after unilateralβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside lesion could affect bilateral neurop.thology and sensorimotor deficits on day 30 p.st-transfection.This study found that rNurr1-V5 exp.ession but not that of the green fluorescent p.otein(the negative control)reducedβ-sitosterolβ-D-glucoside-induced neurop.thology.Accordingly,a bilateral increase in tyrosine hydroxylase-p.sitive cells and arborization occurred in the substantia nigra and increased tyrosine hydroxylase-p.sitive ramifications in the striatum.In addition,tyrosine hydroxylase-p.sitive cells disp.ayed less senescence markerβ-galactosidase and more neuron-cytoskeleton markerβIII-tubulin and brain-derived neurotrop.ic factor.A significant decrease in activated microglia(p.sitive to ionized calcium-binding adap.or molecule 1)and neurotoxic astrocytes(p.sitive to glial fibrillary acidic p.otein and comp.ement comp.nent 3)and increased neurotrop.ic astrocytes(p.sitive to glial fibrillary acidic p.otein and S100 calcium-binding p.otein A10)also occurred in the substantia nigra.These effects followed the bilateral reduction inα-synuclein aggregates in the nigrostriatal system,imp.oving sensorimotor behavior.Our results show that unilateral rNurr1-V5 transgene exp.ession in nigral dop.minergic neurons mitigates bilateral neurodegeneration(senescence and loss of neuron-cytoskeleton and tyrosine hydroxylase-p.sitive cells),neuroinflammation(activated microglia,neurotoxic astrocytes),α-synuclein aggregation,and sensorimotor deficits.Increased neurotrop.ic astrocytes and brain-derived neurotrop.ic factor can mediate t

Objectives:p.rsistent olfactory dysfunction(OD)following loss of smell associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection is a major feature of long COVID.p.rsp.ctives on the p.evalence of p.rsistent OD p.edominantly rely on self-rep.rted olfactory function.Few studies have tracked longitudinal rates of recovery using p.ychop.ysical assessment among p.tients p.esenting for evaluation of p.rsistent OD beyond a window of acute recovery.Data anchored in standardized testing methods are needed to counsel p.tients who fail to acutely regain their sense of smell.This study aims to quantify the degree of p.rsistent OD in p.st-COVID-19 p.tients who exp.rience subjective and p.ychop.ysical OD.methods:We group.d p.rticip.nts p.esenting for OD evaluation into cohorts based on both subjective and p.ychop.ysical olfactory status at a baseline assessment and assessed their olfactory abilities with a visual analogue scale and the Sniffin'Sticks extended test at baseline and 1-year time p.ints.p.rticip.nts had confirmed a history of COVID-19 by lab evaluation or clinical diagnosis if lab evaluation was not available.Results:Baseline olfactory evaluation was comp.eted by 122 p.rticip.nts,53 of whom comp.eted the 1-year follow-up.assessment.Among p.rticip.nts p.esenting with p.rceived OD,74.5%had confirmed p.ychop.ysical OD at baseline,with 55.1%at 1-year follow-up.p.rticip.nts had reliable trends in self-rated versus p.ychop.ysically tested olfactory function at both time p.ints.The total threshold,discrimination,and identification(TDI)score imp.oved by+3.25 p.ints in the cohort with p.ychop.ysical OD(p.0.0005),with this imp.ovement largely attributable to an increase in median threshold scores(+2.75 p.ints;p.0.0004).Conclusions:OD p.rsists in a significant number of p.tients who fail to acutely recovery their sense of smell after COVID-19,with many demonstrating lingering deficits at 1-year.Imp.ovements in threshold,but not discrimination or identification,most significantly mediate imp.ovement of total TDI score at follow-up.

We have recently p.op.sed a new technique of p.asma tailoring by laser-driven hydrodynamic shockwaves generated on both sides of a gas jet[Marquès et al.,p.ys.p.asmas 28,023103(2021)].In a continuation of this numerical work,we study exp.rimentally the influence of the tailoring on p.oton acceleration driven by a high-intensity p.cosecond laser in three cases:without tailoring,by tailoring only the entrance side of the p.cosecond laser,and by tailoring both sides of the gas jet.Without tailoring,the acceleration is transverse to the laser axis,with a low-energy exp.nential sp.ctrum,p.oduced by Coulomb exp.osion.When the front side of the gas jet is tailored,a forward acceleration ap.ears,which is significantly enhanced when both the front and back sides of the p.asma are tailored.This forward acceleration p.oduces higher-energy p.otons,with a p.aked sp.ctrum,and is in good agreement with the mechanism of collisionless shock acceleration(CSA).The sp.tiotemp.ral evolution of the p.asma p.ofile is characterized by op.ical shadowgrap.y of a p.obe beam.The refraction and absorp.ion of this beam are simulated by p.st-p.ocessing 3D hydrodynamic simulations of the p.asma tailoring.Comp.rison with the exp.rimental results allows estimation of the thickness and near-critical density of the p.asma slab p.oduced by tailoring both sides of the gas jet.These p.rame.e.s are in good agreement with those required for CSA.
