Comparison between primary angioplasty and thrombolytic therapy on erectile dysfunction after acute ST elevation myocardial infarction

Acute ST elevation myocardial infarction has high mortality and morbidity rates. The majority of patients with this condition face erectile dysfunction in addition to other health problems. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of two different reperfusion strategies, primary angioplasty and thrombolytic therapy, on the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. Of the 71 patients matching the selection criteria, 45 were treated with primary coronary angioplasty with stenting, and 26 were treated with thrombolytic agents. Erectile function was evaluated using the International Index of Erectile Function in the hospital to characterize each patient＇s sexual function before the acute myocardial infarction and 6 months after the event. The time required to restore blood flow to the artery affected by the infarct was found to be associated with the occurrence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. The increase in the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction was 44.4% in the angioplasty group and 76.9% in the thrombolytic therapy group （P= 0.008）. In conclusion, this study has shown that reducing the time of reperfusion decreases the erectile dysfunction prevalence, and primary angioplasty is superior to thrombolytic therapy for decreasing the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction.

Effect of basic life support training on the knowledge and skills of first aid of first year medical students

The Application of Ultra High Voltage in the World

With rapidly growth in industrial sectors, in order to meet the demand, the usage of Ultra High Voltage (UHV) is needed. High voltage (HV) is between the range of 52 kV and 300 kV. In case of voltage above 800 kV, it can be defined as UHV. With the development of technologies in the world, it could be seen that Japan, Russia, Italy, Brazil, America (U.S), and Canada began to improve UHV in the 1960s and 1970s. In addition, China, a leader developing country for UHV technologies in the world, started UHV technologies in transmission, in 1980s. Nowadays, seven transmission lines are in operation in China. In this study, the concept of HV and UHV will be introduced. Especially, UHV transmission in the worldwide will be researched. Then, the historical development and current situation of UHV will be analyzed and the assessment for Turkey will be done.

AIM：To detect the impact of insulin-like growth factor-1（IGF-1）and other risk factors for the early prediction of retinopathy of prematurity（ROP）and to establish a scoring system for ROP prediction by using clinical criteria and serum IGF-1 ***：The study was conducted with 127 preterm ***-1 levels in the 1st day of life,1st,2nd,3rd and4th week of life was *** score was established after logistic regression analysis,considering the impact of each variable on the occurrences of any stage ROP.A validation cohort containing 107 preterm infants was included in the study and the predictive ability of ROP score was ***：Birth weights（BW）,gestational weeks（GW）and the prevalence of breast milk consumption were lower,respiratory distress syndrome（RDS）,bronchopulmonarydysplasia（BPD）and necrotizing enterocolitis（NEC）were more frequent,the duration of mechanical ventilation and oxygen supplementation was longer in patients with ROP（P〈0.05）.Initial serum IGF-1 levels tended to be lower in newborns who developed *** regression analysis revealed that low BW（〈1250 g）,presence of intraventricular hemorrhage（IVH）and formula feeding increased the risk of ***,the scoring system was validated on 107 *** negative predictive values of a score less than 4 were 84.3%,74.7%and 79.8%while positive predictive values were 76.3%,65.5%and71.6%***：In addition to BW〈1250 g and IVH,formula consumption was detected as a risk factor for the development of *** is important for prevention of ROP in preterm infants.

Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore （Hemiptera： Aphalaridae）, the New Exotic Pest of Eucalyptus in Northern Cyprus

Eucalypt-feeding psyllids, Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore （Hemiptera： Psylloidea： Aphalaridae）, native to the Australian region, has emerged as an aggressive pest on Eucalyptus in many countries as it was described recently in Greece and Turkey. This study aimed to report this invasive species and its parasitoids on Eucalyptus growing area in Northern Cyprus. G. brimblecombei infested leaves were collected and brought to the laboratory for identification and collection of parasitoids emerged from the pest. In this paper, presence of G. brimblecombei and the parasitoid of the red gum lerp psyllid Psyllaephagus bliteus Riek （Hymenoptera： Encyrtidae） were reported for the first time in Northern Cyprus. Detailed information about the pest and its parasitoids were discussed.

Maastricht Ⅱ treatment scheme and efficacy of different proton pump inhibitors in eradicating Helicobacter pylori

AIM: The Maastricht Ⅱ criteria suggest the use of amoxicillin and clarithromycin in addition to a proton pump inhibitor over 7-10 d as a first line therapy in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (Hpylori). For each proton pump inhibitor, various rates of eradication have been reported. The present study was to compare the efficacy of different proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, lansoprazole and pantoprazole in combination with amoxicillin and clarithromycin in the first line eradication of Hpylonand to investigate the success of H pylonrieradication in our district. METHODS: A total of 139 patients were included having a Helicobacter pylori (+) gastroduodenal disorders diagnosed by means of histology and urease test. Besides amoxicillin (1000 mg twice a day) and darithromycin (500 mg twice a day), they were randomized to take omeprazole (20 mg twice a day), or lansoprazole (30 mg twice a day), or pantoprozole (40 mg twice a day) for 14 d. Four weeks after the therapy, the eradication was assessed by means of histology and urease test. It was evaluated as eradicated if the Hpyloriwas found negative in both. The complaints (pain in epigastrium, nocturnal pain, pyrosis and bloating) were graded in accordance with the Licert scale. The compliance of the patients was recorded. RESULTS: The eradication was found to be 40.8% in the omeprazole group, 43.5% in the lansoprazole group and 47.4% in the pantoprazole group. Sixty-three out of 139 patients (45%) had eradication. No statistically significant difference was observed between the groups. Significant improvements were seen in terms of the impact on the symptom scores in each group. CONCLUSION: There was no difference between omeprazole, lansoprazole and pantoprazole in H pylori eradication, and the rate of eradication was as low as 45%. Effects of Different NaCl Doses on Morphological and Physiological Parameters in Mentha piperita L.

Salt stress is one of the most serious limiting factors for crop growth and production. This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of salt stress in four Mentha piperita L. varieties, in greenhouse conditions. The seedlings were irrigated with 1/2 Hoagland nutrition solutions. Following 10 d of growth in the pots, the seedlings were subjected to salt stress with different concentrations of NaCl （0, 50 and 100 mM, respectively）. Responses of the mint varieties to salt stress were evaluated using some plant growth and physiological parameters, such as plant height, root length, shoot and root fresh and dry weight, and ion concentrations in leaves, such as Na, K, Ca and Cl. Salt stress caused reduction in physiological parameters. However, this reduction was significant at 100 mM NaCl compared to 50 mM NaCl. These two concentrations of NaCl increased Na and Cl contents in leaves. However, K and Ca contents were decreased with salinity. The results showed that Mentha piperita cv. Sewiss and Granada were found more tolerant to salt stress than cv. Marokko and Citaro.
