Late Nephrology Case Management and Morbidity Due to Chronic Renal Failure, Case of Guinea

Context and Object: Late nephrology case management for patients with chronic renal failure is consistently associated with high morbidity rate. The objectives of this study were to determine the factors associated with late nephrology case management and to describe the evolution of patients depending on the time of care nephrology. Material and Methods: It was a 5-year prospective study, observational type, going from January 1st, 2010 to December 31th, 2014. We studied all the patients hospitalized with chronic renal failure with dialysis or not and we excluded the patients hospitalized for acute renal failure. Results: The study population includes 307 men (53.4%) and 268 women (46.6%) with a sex ratio of 1.14. Age population ranged between 15 and 85 years old with a mean of 44.4 ± 16.20 years old. Their profession was distributed as follows: 220 housewives (38.3%), 181 workers (31.5%), 104 civil servants (18.1%), 56 students (9.7%) and 14 unemployed (2.4%). Patients came from all regions of the country: Conakry: 389 patients (67.6%);Lower Guinea: 82 (14.3%);Middle-Guinea: 57 (9.9%);Upper Guinea: 31 (5.4%);Guinea Forest Region: 16 (2.8%). In this study population, 48 patients were admitted in emergency (8.3%);105 were scheduled (18.3%) and 422 were referred to the nephrology department (73.4%). Reasons for the emergency admission were acute pulmonary edema in 21 patients (43.7%), decompensated anemia in 13 patients (27.1%), loss of consciousness in 9 patients (18.7%) and malignant hypertension in 5 patients (10.4%). The reference patterns was uremic syndrome in 312 patients (54.3%), followed by high blood pressure in 247 patients (42.9%), an edematous syndrome in 234 patients (40.7%), oligoanuria in 222 patients (38.6%), morphological abnormalities on the renal ultrasound in 4 patients (0.7%). Background:Despite the progress made in the control of Neglected Tropical diseases(NTD),schistosome and soil-transmitted helminth infections are far from being effectively managed in many parts of the ***,the key element of all control strategies,is faced with some difficulties in terms of access to *** study aims to describe the factors involved in the success or failure of the community-directed intervention(Cdi)approach through control programmes,which aims to achieve consistent high coverage at affordable and sustainable costs in endemic ***:The Cdi approach was carried out from December 2007 to October 2008 in ten villages of the district of diéma,*** inclusion,each child part of the study’s sample was interviewed and submitted for a physical *** study focused on:data collection,treatment of the eligible population,evaluation of the treatment coverage,performance of community drug distributors(CDDs),and the involvement and perception of ***:A total of 8,022 eligible people were studied with a mean coverage rate of 76.7%.Using multiple regression,it was determined that receiving praziquantel as treatment was associated with five factors:belonging to the Fulani or Moorish ethnic minority versus the Bambara/Soninke,use of the central versus the house-to-house drug distribution mode,the ratio of the population to the number of CDDs,the lack of supervision and belonging to the age group of 15 years or above(pdiscouraged many CDDs(who in most cases are volunteers)to participate in the Cdi approach due to a lack of ***:The findings indicate that the success of the Cdi approach depends on,amongst other things,the personal characteristics of the respondents,as well as on community factors.

In VitroClonal Propagation from Adult Material of a Savannah Species of Socio-Economic Importance: Annona senegalensisPers.

Annona senegalensis (Pers.) or Annone from Senegal is a species found in the West African savannah and para-littoral sands. It offers real possibilities of socio-economic use, particularly in the medical, nutritional, ecosystem conservation and poverty alleviation fields. However, this wild species remained not fully exploited despite its potentialities. As a result, there is a need to regenerate this species;therefore, the in vitro propagation from adult material was undertaken. For this purpose, axillary nodes from plant regrowth taken from elderly subjects were aseptically introduced into different media enriched or not with phytohormones. Among the 3 culture media tested, that of Murashige and Skoog (MS, 1962) was the most reactive and made it possible to develop a micropropagation protocol for adult material of A. senegalensis. Thus, the introduction of these explants in media containing cytokinins (BAP and Kinetin) significantly increased the reactivity compared to media without hormones. If the best average numbers of shoots (2.3) and nodes (5.3) are obtained in MS + BAP 2 mg·L−1, with a reactivity of 91.66%, the addition of 0.1 mg·L−1 NAA gave the best average length (8.25 cm) of vitroplants. Cowpea is one of the most important legume grains in the sub-Saharan region of Africa used for human consumption and animal feed,but its production is hampered by biotic and abiotic constraints raising the need to broaden its genetic *** this purpose,seeds of two cowpea varieties Melakh and Yacine were irradiated with 300 and 340 Gy of gamma-ray,*** developed mutant populations were agromorphologically characterized from M5 to M7,while the genetic diversity of the latter was evaluated using 13 ISSR *** on the agromorphological characterization,variation of flower color,pod length,seed coat color,and seed weight with 78.01,68.29,94.48,and 57.58%heritability,respectively,were recorded in the mutant *** analyses allowed to identify the elite mutants based on their agromorphological traits,while Pearson’s correlation results revealed a positive correlation between yield and yield component *** subpopulations were identified through STRUCTURE analyses,but the assignment of the individuals in each group was improved using DAPC(discriminant Analysis of Principal Components)*** of Molecular Variance revealed that the majority(85%)of the variance rather existed within groups than among(15%)***,our study allowed us to select new promising mutant genotypes that could be tested for multi-locational trials to evaluate their agronomic performance.

Influence of the Size of Potato Microtubers (Solanum tuberosumL.) on the Yield of Plants under Semi-Axenic Conditions

The potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a vegetable that ranks fifth in the world for human consumption. Its importance is growing more and more in the Senegalese diet. However, the potato production in Senegal does not meet the needs of the market, which maintains dependence on the outside for the supply of quality seeds. In addition, these imported seeds do not often have phytosanitary qualities required for local production in the Sahelian zone. The in vitro production of microtubers, used as seed, has been shown to be one of the most efficient means for propagation of basic material. To overcome the constraints linked to the supply and availability of potato seeds, with high germination capacity, the impact of the microtuber size on the yield of the plants under semi-controlled conditions was examined. The pre-germinated microtubers were produced in vitro from vitroplants of 3 different varieties (Aida, Atlas, Odessa) adapted to the edaphic-climatic conditions of Senegal. The effects of the seed sizes of microtubers, greater than 4 mm, sown under semi-controlled conditions, on the yield of the plants, result in an increase in the ratio, in the vegetative development of the plants, but also in the number and size of the minitubers harvested. A Model of Physico-Mechanical Characterization of Sangaredi Bauxites and Related Rocks Taking into Account Their Litho-Genetic Type

The Sangarédi bauxite deposit in the Republic of Guinea contains several bauxite types depending on their litho-genetics. For rational and sustainable exploitation, determining the physical and mechanical properties of these different bauxite types is essential for mining companies. This paper presents a model for the physico-mechanical characterization of Sangarédi bauxites according to their litho-genetic type. Eight pits were drilled, and samples were collected from different layers at different depth intervals for each bauxite type. Physical and mechanical characterization tests were then carried out on 27 samples to determine the following parameters: water of absorption (%), compressive strength (kgf/cm2) and dynamic tensile strength (kgf/cm2). The effect of depth of sampling on these physico-mechanical parameters was evaluated. An average value of the parameters was made for each bauxite type. The results showed that the physico-mechanical characteristics of bauxites depend on the depth of sample collection, and the average value of the parameters constitutes the representative values of the bauxite type. Finally, a comparative study of the average value of the physico-mechanical parameters of the different bauxite types was carried out.

Spatial Analysis of Structural Changes and Floristic distribution of Forest Landscapes in the Centre-West Region of Burkina Faso

Land use and occupation dynamics impact landscape structure, diversity, richness and balance of vegetation cover. The aim of this study is to describe the process of fragmentation of the forest landscape from 1990 to 2020 and its effects on the degradation of the floristic characteristics of the vegetation in the Central West region of Burkina Faso. To achieve this, satellite data were collected and processed as part of a mapping approach to describing the landscape and the different types of landscape fragmentation. Mapping indices of landscape fragmentation (relative richness, change process, patch zones, Shannon diversity index) were also calculated. These indices were programmed in Idrisi Selva’s Landscape Pattern and change process analysis module. Spatio-temporal analysis revealed that in 1990, the landscape was dominated by natural vegetation formations, covering 66.33% of the territory. By 2020, these had been degraded to 44.80% by farmlands. The mapping analysis of indices also showed that the study area is characterized by four types of landscape fragmentation, including attrition, aggregation, creation and dissection. We also observed an abundant homogeneity, diversity and richness of conservation areas with legal and land tenure status. However, the structure is heterogeneous in landscapes outside protected areas and in areas under human occupation. This shows the crucial role played by conservation areas in preserving and balancing the diversity of vegetative cover in the study area.
