Pm. 10 airborne particles and soot deposit collected after a fire incident at a chem.cal store were analyzed in order to determ.ne the concentrations of polycyclic arom.tic hydrocarbons(PAHs). The sam.les were extracted with 1∶1 hexane-dichlorom.thane by ultrasonic agitation. The extracts were then subjected to gas chrom.tography-m.ss spectrom.tric(GC-m.) analysis. The total PAHs concentrations in airborne particles and soot deposit were found to be 3.27±1.55 ng/m. 3 and 12.81±24.37 μg/g, respectively. Based on the m.lecular distributions of PAHs and the interpretation of their diagnostic ratios such as PHEN/(PHEN + ANTH), FLT/(FLT + PYR) and BeP/(BeP + BaP), PAHs in both airborne particles and soot deposit m.y be inferred to be from.the sam. source. The difference in the value of IP/(IP + BgP) for these sam.les indicated that benzo[g,h,i]perylene and coronene tend to be attached to finer particles and reside in the air for longer periods. Com.arison between the m.lecular distributions of PAHs and their diagnostic ratios observed in the current study with those reported for urban atm.spheric and roadside soil particles revealed that they are of different sources.

Background: Intussusception is defined as a telescoping of a proxim.l gastrointestinal segm.nt with its m.sentery to a distal one, only 5% occur in adults and in colon the probability that it is caused by a m.lignant disease is up to 65%. Only 1% occurs in a retrograde m.nner, the rest occur in an anterograde m.nner. Aim. Describe the clinical presentation of an intussusception in the adult patient as well as its m.st frequent causes and possible com.lications that influence decision m.king for a definitive treatm.nt. Case Presentation: A 66-year-old wom.n diagnosed with colon adenocarcinom. who underwent elective transverse colectom. and colonic anastom.sis with an incidental finding of a transverse colon tum.r in a retrograde intussusception was studied. Conclusion: In any adult patient with an intussusception especially in colon a neoplasia should be suspected and the affected segm.nt should be resected without being reduced due to the risk of perforation and tum.r dissem.nation.

A m.lti-faceted Case Area Targeted Intervention (CATI) approach em.hasizing the integration of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions and Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) cam.aign was em.loyed to respond to the outbreak of cholera in Garissa County. Drinking water sources in areas heavily im.acted by cholera were system.tically m.pped and tested for m.crobiological quality. The quality assessm.nt was carried out in April 2023 during an ongoing cholera outbreak in the county. A total of 109 sam.les were collected and tested for therm.tolerant coliform. and other in situ param.ters. The finding revealed that m.re than 87% of the sam.les did not m.et the World Health Organization (WHO) standard for therm.tolerant coliform.;and 30% had turbidity values above the recom.ended threshold values. None of the 109 sam.les had any traceable residual chlorine. Following these findings, the county governm.nt im.lem.nted the targeted interventions which resulted in a positive im.act in the fight against cholera. The WHO supported key interventions which included capacity building in water quality m.nitoring and prepositioning of critical WASH com.odities to the cholera affected areas.

Controlling the chem.stry at the interface of nanocrystalline solids has been a challenge and an im.ortant goal to realize desired properties. Integrating two different types of m.terials has the potential to yield new functions resulting from.cooperative effects between the two constituents. m.tal-organic fram.works （m.Fs） are unique in that they are constructed by linking inorganic units with organic linkers where the building units can be varied nearly at will. This flexibility has m.de m.Fs ideal m.terials for the design of functional entities at interfaces and hence allowing control of properties. This review highlights the strategies em.loyed to access synergistic functionality at the interface of nanocrystalline m.Fs （nm.Fs） and inorganic nanocrystals （NCs）.

The exchange of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) within an incubator has a significant im.act on em.ryonic developm.nt (ED) and hatching processes. This study exam.nes the influence of non-ventilation (NV) conditions during the first ten days of incubation at high altitudes on Leghorn hens hatching eggs. Five hundred four hatching eggs were equally divided into three treatm.nt groups and placed in twelve incubators (R = 4). The first group was subjected to standard ventilated conditions (V) during the setting phase. The ventilation inlet holes of the rem.ining incubators in the NV treatm.nts were closed with either m.cropore (m. or polypropylene (P) tape, referred to as NVm.and NVP groups, respectively. These two different airtight settings were intended to allow for a gradual rise in CO2 naturally generated by the em.ryos. Results indicate that carbon dioxide concentration gradually increased during the first half of incubation, reaching 1.42% in the NVm.group and 1.20% in the NVP group, while the V condition group rem.ined at 0.15%. From.10 days of incubation onwards, norm.l V conditions were restored in all incubators. The highest hatchability of fertile eggs (HFE) was shown by the NVP group (55.7%), followed by the V (52.6%) and NVm.(38.6%) groups. The NVP group showed a greater yolk-free body m.ss (YFBm. from.10 days of incubation until the hatch basket transfer. NV conditions during the first 10 days of incubation at high altitude produced higher YFBm.with gradually decreasing yolk sac m.ss. In com.arison to the NVm.and V conditions, the particular NVP condition showed a beneficial im.act on the quality of hatched chicks. Sustaining NVP condition (1.2% of CO2) throughout the first half of incubation at high altitude generated the optim.l environm.nt in the incubator ensuring the best hatchability results. This study highlights how im.ortant it is for hatchery m.nagers to recognize the influence of low O2 and high levels of CO2 on the developm.nt trajectori

Wet-cupping therapy(WCT)is one of the oldest known m.dical techniques,used as a traditional and com.lem.ntary therapy with a wide application all around the world for general *** on the effects of WCT on sports perform.nce are sparse and ***,we aim.d to explore the effects of WCT on repeated sprint ability,wellness,and exertion in young active ***-nine active adult m.les(age:[28±5]years;body height[177±8]cm.body m.ss:[79±7]kg;body m.ss index:[25.4±1.8]kg/m.(2))were selected for the *** participants perform.d a running-based sprint test on two separate occasions(Control and Post-WCT).WCT was perform.d 24 h before the testing *** com.leted the Hooper questionnaire to assess their well-being(i.e.,sleep,stress,fatigue,and soreness)before each *** rating of perceived exertion(RPE)was collected after each testing session.A higher m.xim.m.power(pm.an power(pm.nim.m.power(pm.ared to Control session along with a better perceived sleep(pm.ared to the Control *** present findings dem.nstrated that WCT m.derately enhanced repeated sprint ability and had positive effects on perceived sleep,stress,and *** m.y be an effective ergogenic aid to im.rove repeated sprint ability and general wellbeing in young adult *** large-scale m.lticentric clinical studies are param.unt to confirm.the results of our study.

A suitable sim.le optical cryostat for optical, m.gneto-optical, electrical and therm.-electrical m.asurem.nts was designed. It is suitable for use in a m.gnetic pool gap as narrow as less than 1 cm. Throughout a long period of tim., the heat diffusion process of the cryostat can be easily operated at slow increase in sam.le tem.erature in a range 1.25 K/m.n at 200 K that will be reduced gradually to 0.66 K at room.tem.erature. Liquid nitrogen was used to cool down the tem.erature. During the operation, the change in the m.asured energy gap of a sem.conductor sam.le and other physical param.ters resulting from.the change of tem.erature can be corrected through the tem.erature coefficient of that param.ter at the corresponding tem.erature. The cryostat was successfully used for all experim.nts m.ntioned above to m.asure the properties of a single crystal of GaP (Gallium.Phosphate) sem.conductor.

This study presents the use of chicken eggshells waste utilizing palm.kernel shell based activated carbon（PKSAC） through the m.dification of their surface to enhance the adsorption capacity of H2S. Response surface m.thodology technique was used to optim.ze the process conditions and they were found to be： 500 m./L for H2S initial concentration, 540 m.n for contact tim. and 1 g for adsorbent m.ss. The im.acts of three arrangem.nt factors（calcination tem.erature of im.regnated activated carbon（IAC）, the calcium.solution concentration and contact tim. of calcination） on the H2S rem.val efficiency and im.regnated AC yield were investigated. Both responses IAC yield（IACY, %） and rem.val efficiency（RE, %） were m.xim.zed to optim.ze the IAC preparation conditions. The optim.m.preparation conditions for IACY and RE were found as follows： calcination tem.erature of IAC of 880 ℃, calcium.solution concentration of 49.3% and calcination contact tim. of 57.6 m.n, which resulted in 35.8% of IACY and 98.2% RE. In addition, the equilibrium.and kinetics of the process were investigated. The adsorbent was characterized using TGA, XRD, FTIR, SEm.EDX, and BET. The m.xim.m.m.nolayer adsorption capacity was found to be 543.47 m./g. The results recom.ended that the com.osite of PKSAC and Ca O could be a useful m.terial for H2S containing wastewater treatm.nt.
