Critical visceral adipose tissue thresholds aassociated with type 2 diabetes mellitus in chinese population

To compare intervertebral location L2-L3 with L4-L5 as landmarks for measuring abdominal fat distribution and to determine critical levels of visceral adipose tissue （VAT） at those planes, exceeding which may lead to the development of type 2 diabetes. Methods： Abdominal fat distribution was measured using computed tomography（CT） in 29 diabetics （19 male, 10 female） and 30 non-diabetics （18 male, 12 female）. CT images obtained at two intervertebral locations L2-L3 and L4-L5 were used to measure the areas of total fat, VAT and subcutaneous adipose tissue （SCAT） using slice thickness of 5mm and an attenuation range from -190 to -30 Hounsfield units （HU）. Data were analyzed using logistic regression and Receiver-operating characteristic （ROC） analysis. Results： At L2-L3, diabetes and obesity were correctly classified at 91.53% and 83.05% respectively, while at L4-L5, the same were correctly classified at 84.75% and 88.14% respectively. VAT compared to SCAT, had significantly higher correctly classified percent values for predicting diabetes in both measurement sites. At L2-L3, VAT≥177.29 cm2 or VAT ≥51.52% of the total fat area had the highest correctly classified value for predicting diabetes in men, while VAT ≥ 132.27 cm2 or VAT≥45.7% of the total fat area had the highest correctly classified value for predicting diabetes in women. At LA-L5, VAT≥ 130.82 cm2 or VAT≥45.5,$% of the total fat area had the highest correctly classified value for predicting diabetes in men, while VAT≥ 118.56 cm2 or VAT≥32.24% of the total fat area had the highest correctly classified value for predicting diabetes in women. Conclusion： L2-L3 plane is a better landmark for measuring abdominal fat distribution for predicting diabetes, while abdominal fat distribution measured at L4-L5 has better association with obesity. Regardless of the measurement site, VAT compared to SCAT, has significantly stronger association with diabetes.

Acute Toxicity of Aluminium Phosphide Following Oral Administration in Rats

Aluminium phosphide (AlP) is used as a fumigant and also sometimes misused for suicidal attempts in India, due to its easy availability. The effect of phosphine, the gas that is liberated when AlP comes in contact with moisture, is well documented in the literature. However, the effect of AlP in its native form on animal models is not well cited. In this study we examined the acute toxic effect of AlP in rats. Oral LD50 of AlP for male and female rats were found to be 14. 13 and 11. 89mg/kg, respectively. Oral administration of an AlP dose of 0. 80 LD50 resulted in significant increases in the level of plasma glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase,alkaline phosphatase, glucose and urea in rats of both sexes. Hemoglobin level and packed cell volume also increased significantly 6h after administration. Body weight was reduced but the organ to body weight ratio of lung, liver, spleen, kidney and testes remained *** changes induced by AlP during 24-48h induced hemorrhage, congestion and mild to moderate atrophy of various cellular components of visceral organs. The study showed that the acute toxic effect of AlP may be due to hypovolemic shock. Female rats were found to be more susceptible than were males.

An improved and secure multiserver authentication scheme based on biometrics and smartcard

With the advancement in internet technologies, the number of servers has increased remarkably to provide more services to the end users. These services are provided over the public channels, which are insecure and susceptible to interception, modification, and deletion. To provide security, registered entities are authenticated and then a session key is established between them to communicate securely. The conventional schemes anow a user to access services only after their independent registration with each desired server in a multiserver system. Therefore, a user must possess multiple smartcards and memorize various identities and passwords for obtaining services from multiple servers. This has led to the adoption of multiserver authentication in which a user accesses services of multiple servers after registering himself at only one central authority. Recently, kumar and om discussed a scheme for multiserver environment by using smartcard. Since the user-memorized passwords are of low entropy, it is possible for an attacker to guess them. This paper uses biometric information of user to enhance the security of the scheme by kumar and Ore. Moreover, we conducted rigorous security analyses （informal and formal） in this study to prove the security of the proposed scheme against all known attacks. We also simulated our scheme by using the automated tool, ProVerif, to prove its secrecy and authentication properties. A comparative study of the proposed scheme with the existing related schemes shows its effectiveness.

Antidiabetic,hypolipidemic and histopathological analysis of Dillenia indica (L.) leaves extract on alloxan induced diabetic rats

Objective:To investigate antidiabetic,hypolipidemic histopathological analysis of Dillenia indica(***) methanolic leaves(DIME) extract in alloxan induced diabetic rat by administering oral doses(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight).Methods:Blood glucose levels were measured using blood glucose test strips with elegance glucometer on weekly intervals till the end of study(i.e.3 weeks).Other parameters *** profile,renal profile and total lipid levels were determined in normal and alloxan induced diabetic rats after oral administration of the extract for 21 *** changes in diabetic rat organs(pancreas,liver and kidney) were also observed after extract treatment Results:Daily oral administration DIME(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight) and glibenclamide(10 mg/kg) showed beneficial effects on blood glucose level (Pompared to diabetic control ***,the extract has a favorable effect on the histopathological changes of the pancreas,liver and kidney in alloxan induced diabetes. Conclusions:*** possess antidiabetic property as well improve body weight,liver profile, renal profile and total lipid *** has also favorable effect to inhibit the histopathological changes of the pancreas and kidney in alloxan induced diabetes.

Objective:To investigate the antidiabetic and anti-lipemic effects of Cassia siamea methanolic leaves ***:The antidiabetic study was performed by measuring blood glucose level with elegance glucometer at weekly intervals i.e.0,7,14 and 21 in normal and streptozotocin induced diabetic *** cholesterol,triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol were determined in normal and streptozotocin induces diabetic rats by *** was used as a reference drug at a dose of 10 mg/***:After the oral administration of extracts at doses of 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg for three weeks,blood glucose levels and body weights were significantly improved(P<0.01).Daily oral treatment with the extract also resulted in significantly reduction of serum cholesterol and ***-cholesterol level was found to be improved to(P<0.01).Conclusions:The Cassia siamea leaf extract is useful in controlling blood glucose level as well as improving lipid metabolism and body weight in rats with induced diabetes.

Power Quality Improvement and Signal Conditioning of PV Array and Grid Interfaced Off-board Charger for Electric Vehicles with V2G and G2V Capabilities

BACKGROUND Data regarding the worldwide gastrointestinal surgery rates in patients with Crohn’s disease(CD)remains *** To systematically review the global variation in the rates of surgery in *** A comprehensive search analysis was performed using multiple electronic databases from inception through July 1,2020,to identify all full text,randomized controlled trials and cohort studies pertaining to gastrointestinal surgery rates in adult patients with *** included continent based demographic data,CD surgery rates over time,as well as the geoepidemiologic variation in CD surgery *** analyses were conducted using *** Twenty-three studies spanning four continents were *** median proportion of persons with CD who underwent gastrointestinal surgery in studies from North America,Europe,Asia,and Oceania were 30%(range:1.7%-62.0%),40%(range:0.6%-74.0%),17%(range:16.0%-43.0%),and 38%*** clear association was found regarding the proportion of patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery over time in North America(R^(2)=0.035)and Europe(R^(2)=0.100).A moderate,negative association was seen regarding the proportion of patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery over time(R^(2)=0.520)in *** There appears to be significant inter-continental variation regarding surgery rates in *** evidencebased guidelines accounting for the geographic differences in managing patients with CD is ***,as a paucity of data on surgery rates in CD exists outside the North American and European continents,future studies,particularly in less studied locales,are warranted.
