Polysulfide modified PtCu intermetallic nanocatalyst with enrichment realizes efficient electrooxidation ethanol to CO_(2)

The main problem faced by ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)includes low activity,poor selectivity,and *** the study,we found that polysulfide modified on the surface of PtCu intermetallic(Im)/C can simultaneously enrich hydroxyl and ethanol,which could effectively improve the catalytic activity,CO_(2) selectivity,and durability of *** mass activity and the specific activity of the product in 1 m KOH electrolyte reached 17.83 A·mgPt^(-1) and 24.67 mA·cm^(-2).The CO_(2) selectivity of polysulfide modified product achieved 93.5%,which was 30 folds higher than Pt/*** addition,the catalyst showed high catalytic *** mechanism study demonstrates that the surface modified polysulfide could significantly boost the enrichment effect of ethanol and hydroxyl species,accelerating C–C bond cleavage and CO oxidation.

3D model of Svecofennian Accretionary Orogen and Karelia Craton based on geology,reflection seismics,magnetotellurics and density modelling:Geodynamic speculations

On the winter enhancement of adaptive humoral immunity: hypothesis testing in desert hamsters (Phodopus roborovskii: Cricetidae, Rodentia) kept under long-day and short-day photoperiod

We tested the winter immunity enhancement hypothesis(WIEH)on male desert hamsters(Phodopus roborovskii)kept under long-day(LD)and short-day(SD)*** assumed that under SD in a laboratory,the adaptive humoral immune responsiveness to the antigenic challenge would be enhanced due to the lack of winter physical stressors and food shortages and/or because of the action of an endogenous winter bolstering mechanism,while under LD the immune responsiveness would be suppressed by the activity of the reproductive *** results support the WIEH in *** did not find a difference in antibody production in response to sheep erythrocytes between SD and LD hamsters,but SD males had the lower number of granulocytes and the higher number of lymphocytes in white blood cell *** activity was lower in SD *** males demonstrated an increase in their mass-specific resting metabolic rate,their mass-specific maximal metabolic rate and their level of *** result of a generalized linear model analysis indicates the negative effect on secondary immunoresponsiveness to sheep erythrocytes of mid-ventral gland size,the organ characterizing individual reproductive quality,and designates a tradeoff between antibody production and reproductive *** mass-independent maximal metabolic rate also negatively affected antibody production,indicating a tradeoff between maximal aerobic performance and the adaptive immune *** higher stress in SD males seems to be the most likely reason for the lack of the effect of daylight duration on antibody production.

阿尔泰山南坡受到西风急流、北冰洋冷湿气流、蒙古-西伯利亚高压和亚洲低压共同影响,形成了当地特有的气候模式;同时,阿尔泰山地区是欧亚沟通的枢纽地带,气候变化对周边人类生产生活以及生态系统影响显著。因此有必要了解阿尔泰山周边气候变化长期历史,识别气候变化特征,总结规律以应对未来气候变化带来的灾害。本研究利用相关分析发现阿尔泰山南坡西伯利亚落叶松树轮宽度年表与夏季(6~7月)温度呈显著关系(r=0.626,n=58,p<0.001),进而建立一阶线性回归模型方程定量重建了阿尔泰山南坡过去304年(1715~2018年)夏季温度变化。统计结果显示重建序列稳定可靠,并有能力代表大范围的温度变化特征。重建存在5个暖期(1740~1767年、1775~1793年、1837~1847年、1898~1909年、1990~2018年)和5个冷期(1715~1727年、1807~1828年、1848~1858年、1876~1897年、1927~1940年)。虽然自1990年来温度持续上升(1990~2018年温度距平0.33℃),但并未超过1740~1767年的温度(温度距平0.49℃)。结合周边降水重建序列,发现研究区域在过去3个多世纪表现出夏季水热同步的配置模式,即暖湿/冷干模态占主导地位。

Controlled Wettability of Polymers via Environmental Crazing

This work highlights the benefits of environmental crazing for the control over the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of glassy amorphous and semicrystalline polymers:poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)and biodegradable polycaprolactone(PCL).Task-oriented encapsulation of diverse commercial and natural hydrophilic(polyethyleneoxide,polyvinylpyrrolidone,gelatin)and hydrophobic guest additives(perfluoroorgano siloxanes,water-repellent impregnation)into mesoporous host polymer(PET,PCL)matrixes allows targeted control over the wettability of the resultant nanocomposite *** on the nature of the guest additive,the properties of the modified polymers can be varied from hydrophilic to hydrophobic:contact angle(CA)of PET can be adjusted from 47_(⊥)/38_(||)to 130_(⊥)/117_(||)°(for initial PET,CA=82°)and CA of PCL from 40°to 114°(for initial PCL CA=75°).The unique benefits of environmental crazing for structural modification are related to the universal character of this approach which can be applied to a broad range of polymers and allows preparation of diverse high-performance materials with tunable hydrophilic-lipophilic balance.

JAK-STAT pathway in carcinogenesis:Is it relevant to cholangiocarcinoma progression?

The features of JAK-STAT signaling in liver cells are discussed in the current review. The role of this signaling cascade in carcinogenesis is accentuated. The possible involvement of this pathway and alteration of its elements are compared for normal cholangiocytes, cholangiocarcinoma predisposition and development. Prolactin and interleukin-6 are described in detail as the best studied examples. In addition, the non-classical nuclear translocation of cytokine receptors is discussed in terms of its possible implication to cholangiocarcinoma development.

Females choose gentle, but not healthy or macho males in Campbell dwarf hamsters （Phodopus campbelli Thomas 1905）

Androgen-dependent male sexual traits （STs） as well as immunocompetence are theoreticallyassumed to be key indicators of a male＇s quality for the mate-choosing female. We studied matechoice by sexually motivated （Sm） females of Campbell＇s dwarf hamsters. Females chose between2 tethered male siblings that differed in expression of STs. males were unrelated to the female andable to contact and copulate with her. In both males, we measured sex-related morphology ofbody mass, mid-ventral specific skin gland, ano-genital distance, and external testicular *** also estimated levels of blood testosterone and cortisol, specific T- and B-cell immune re-sponses to antigens, as well as aggressive and sexual dominance in sibling males through add-itional encounter experiments with another Sm female （male sibs could freely compete for thefemale）. We found that Sm females chose a partner among 2 male sibs and spent over 80% of theirtime on average with the preferred male compared with the non-preferred one. Her choice was notassociated with the first visit of the chosen male, with a higher expression of sex-related traits,higher levels of blood testosterone, or with aggressive dominance. The choice was not associatedwith the intensity of T-cell immune response to phitohemagglutinin （PHA）. Instead there was a ten-dency for a negative relationship with the expression of STs and B-cell response to the antigenchallenge. The only character that unambiguously influenced female choice was the non-aggressive male to female grooming during sexual contact. There was no difference in breedingsuccess between preferred and non-preferred males paired with virgin females.

The nanocomposites based on cobalt oxide and nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers (N-CNFs) with cobalt oxide contents of 10–90 wt% were examined as catalysts in the CO oxidation and supercapacity electrodes. Depending on Со3О4 content, such nanocomposites have different morphologies of cobalt oxide nanoparticles, distributions over the bulk, and ratios of Со3+/Co2+ cations. The 90%Со3О4-N-CNFs nanocomposite showed the best activity because of the increased concentration of defects in N-CNFs. The capacitance of electrodes containing 10%Со3О4-N-CNFs was 95 F/g, which is 1.7 times higher than electrodes made from N-CNFs.

Campanian Climatic Change:Isotopic Evidence from Far East,North America,North Atlantic and Western Europe

Paleoclimatic settings have been reconstructed for the Campanian using original oxygenisotopic analyses of well-preserved molluskan and foraminifera shells from Russian Far East, Hokkaido, USA, Belgium and some DSDP holes （95, 98, 102, 390A, and 392A） in North Atlantic. Early Early Campanian climatic optimum has been recognized from data on high bottom shelf water paleotemperatures in middle latitudes of both the western circum-Pacific （to 24.2℃） and the eastern circum-Pacific （to 26.4℃） areas and high bottom shallow water paleotemperatures in high latitudes of the Koryak Upland （22.4-25.5℃）, which agrees with the data on the Campanian Barykovskaya flora in high latitudes （Golovneva and Herman, 1998） and Jonker flora and its equivalents in middle latitudes. Judging from the data on comparatively high bottom shallow water paleotemperature values in high latitudes, South Alaska （19.4℃） and the Koryak Upland （22.4-25.5℃）, we also expect Latest Campauian temperature maximum, which has not been confirmed, however, for low and middle latitudes by neither of isotopic nor paleobotanic data now. main dimatic tendency during the Campanian （with the exception of Latest Campanian） has been learned from isotopic composition of Campanian aragonitic ammonoid shells from the Hokkaido-South Sakhalin （Krilyon） marine basin. In contrary to Huber＇s et al. （2002） assumption, we expect warm greenhouse conditions during the most part of the Campanian.

Does ADS 9346 have a low-mass companion?

Based on the photographic and CCD observations of the relative motion of the A and B components of the binary system ADS 9346 obtained with the 26-inch refractor of Pulkovo Observatory during 1979–2019,we discover an invisible companion associated with star *** of the ephemerides with the positional and spectroscopic observations allowed us to calculate the preliminary orbit of the photocenter(P=15 yr).The minimal mass of the companion is approximately 0.13 *** existence of the invisible low-mass companion is implied by the IR-excess based on IRAS *** confirm this,additional observations of the radial velocity near the periastron need to be carried out.
