Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a functional gastrointestinal disorder in which recurrent abdominal pain is associated with defecation or a change in bowel habits(constipation,diarrhea,or both),and it is often accompanied by symptoms of abdominal bloating and *** is an important health care issue because it negatively affects the quality of life of patients and places a considerable financial burden on health care *** extensive research,the etiology and underlying pathophysiology of IBS remain incompletely *** mechanisms involved in its pathogenesis include increased intestinal permeability,changes in the immune system,visceral hypersensitivity,impaired gut motility,and emotional ***,accumulating evidence has highlighted the important role of the gut microbiota in the development of *** dysbiosis within the gut is thought to contribute to all aspects of its multifactorial *** last few decades have also seen an increasing interest in the impact of antibiotics on the gut ***,antibiotics have been suggested to play a role in the development of *** research has established that antibacterial therapy induces remarkable shifts in the bacterial community composition that are quite similar to those observed in *** suggestion is further supported by data from cohort and case-control studies,indicating that antibiotic treatment is associated with an increased risk of *** paper summarizes the main findings on this issue and contributes to a deeper understanding of the link between antibiotic use and the development of IBS.

Oil and Gas Potential of Eurasian Western Arctic Shelf/Exploration in the Nearshore Area of Northeastern Baltic Shield

A number of large and unique oil and gas fields were discovered over the western Arctic shelf of Eurasia. Some of them were partially appraised. Also, there are three potentially hydrocarbon-rich but insufficiently studied areas in the region. The discovery of commercial accumulations there would substantially increase the petroleum potential of the entire region. These areas are northern Murmansk Oblast, on the Rybachy Peninsula, the Franz-Joseph Land area, and?the North Kara Shelf. It is suggested that oil and gas field discoveries in the former two areas are most expedient under current conditions. The oil and gas potential of the northwestern Kola Peninsula is reviewed in more detail.

The effect of Earth precession angle on a climate is presented here. It is shown that the glaciation epochs occurred only when the precession angle was low. After the continental glaciation formed in the Northern hemisphere, Earth’s spherecal symmetry was disrupted and its precession angle increased drastically. As a result, a drastic and rapid climate warm-up occurred, the glaciers melted down and an interglacial stadial1 began. Subsequently, affected by the Lunar-Solar gravity pull on the Earth’s equatorial swelling, the precession angle gradually decreased and a new cooling-down phase occurred. As a result, there was nonlinear oscillation of Earth’s climate with periods on the order of 100 - 120 MY.

Ambisense polarity of genome RNA of orthomyxoviruses and coronaviruses

Influenza viruses and coronaviruses have linear single-stranded RNA genomes with negative and positive sense polarities and genes encoded in viral genomes are expressed in these viruses as positive and negative genes,*** we consider a novel gene identified in viral genomes in opposite direction,as positive in influenza and negative in coronaviruses,suggesting an ambisense genome strategy for both virus ***,the identified novel genes colocolized in the same RNA regions of viral genomes,where the previously known opposite genes are encoded,a so-called ambisense stacking architecture of genes in virus *** seems likely,that ambisense gene stacking in influenza and coronavirus families significantly increases genetic potential and virus diversity to extend virus-host adaptation pathways in *** data imply that ambisense viruses may have a multivirion mechanism,like"a dark side of the Moon",allowing production of the heterogeneous population of virions expressed through positive and negative sense genome strategies.

Aberrant glycosylation of the anti-Thomsen-Friedenreich glycotope immunoglobulin G in gastric cancer patients

AIM: To study whether alterations in the glycosylation of immunoglobulin G (IgG) specific to the ThomsenFriedenreich glycotope (TF) have diagnostic and prognostic potential in gastric cancer. METHODS: Serum samples were obtained from patients with histologically verified gastric carcinoma (n = 89), healthy blood donors (n = 40), and patients with benign stomach diseases (n = 22). The lectin-enzymelinked immunosorbent assay-based glycoprofiling of TF-specific IgG (anti-TF IgG) was performed using synthetic TF-polyacrylamide conjugate as antigen, total IgG purified by affinity chromatography on protein G sepharose, and lectins of various sugar specificities: mannose-specific concanavalin A (ConA), fucose-specificAleuria aurantia lectin (AAL) and sialic acid-specific Sambucus nigra agglutinin (SNA). The sensitivity and specificity of the differences between cancer patients and controls were evaluated by receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Overall survival was analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method. Time-dependent ROC curve statistics were applied to determine cut-off values for survival analysis. All calculations and comparisons were performed using the GraphPad Prism 5 and SPSS 15.0 ***: The level of TF-specific IgG was significantly increased in cancer patients compared with non-cancer controls (P vel of ConA binding to antiTF-IgG (P very low level of SNA lectin binding (P = 0.0001). No appreciable stage-dependency of the binding of any lectin to anti-TF IgG was found. A strong positive correlation between the binding of AAL and SNA was found in all groups studied (r = 0.71-0.72; P vity were not related to those of the fucoseor sialic acid-specific lectin. Changes in the SNA binding index and the ConA/SNA binding ratio demonstrated good sensitivity and specificity for stomach cancer:

Numerical Modeling of the Time Evolution of Super-Small-Scale Irregularities in the Near-Earth Rarefied Plasma

The time evolution of the magnetic field aligned super-small-scale irregularities in the concentration of charged particles, existing in the near-Earth rarefied plasma, is studied with the help of the model simulation. A new version of the two-dimensional mathematical model, developed earlier in the Polar Geophysical Institute, is utilized to investigate the temporal history of the irregularity with circular cross section, created initially in the near-Earth plasma. The utilized model is based on a numerical solution of the vlasov-Poisson system of equations, with the vlasov equations describing the distribution functions of charged particles and the Poisson equation governing the self-consistent electric field. The results of simulation indicate that the mobility of the positive ions ought to influence essentially on the time evolution of the super-small-scale irregularities in the concentration of charged particles, existing in the near-Earth rarefied plasma.

Changing of Defect’s Structure and Properties of Superhard Nanostructured Ti-Si-N Coatings, Fabricated Using CPvD, before and after Annealing

Using such unique methods of analysis as slow positron beam (SPB), RBS, μ-PIXE (proton microbeam), XRD, SEM with EDS, XPS, nanohardness and elastic modulus measurements, we studied superhard nanostructure Ti-Si-N coatings, which were deposited using Cathodic-PvD method, before and after annealing at the temperature of 600°C for 30 minutes. It is shown in the paper that redistribution of N and Si occurs on the borders of nanograins after annealing, amorphous phase α-SiNx (Si3N4) is created, defects segregates on interfaces and forms vacancy-type clusters with rather high concentration from 5 × 1016 cm-3 to 7.5 × 1017 cm-3 due to thermodiffusion. Solid solution (Ti,Si)N and small concentration of α-SiN (close to XRD detection limits) are formed in the coating. Also it was obtained, that deflected mode is formed in the coating (compressive deformation equals to –2.6%), but after thermal annealing deformation reduces to a value of -2.3%. Size of nanograins of solid solution (Ti, Si)N increases from 12.5 nm to (13.2 ÷ 13.4) nm. 25 nm size grains increase their size to 28.5 nm after annealing (under another deposition regime).

Kinetics and Mechanism of Spontaneous Crystallization of Potassium Nitrate from Its Supersaturated Aqueous Potassium Nitrate from Its Supersaturated Aqueous Solutions

Kinetics of spontaneous crystallization of potassium nitrate from its supersaturated aqueous solutions has been studied simultaneously by electrical conductance and optical transmittance methods. It was found that spontaneous crystallization of potassium nitrate was accompanied by aggregation of crystals. Growth of salt crystals was in the kinetic mode of the growth process, and was described by the equation of the first order regarding supersaturation of solution. The mechanism of aggregation and intergrowth of crystals during bulk crystallization via formation of nucleus-bridges between crystals found earlier for several salts was confirmed. Specific surface energy of potassium nitrate was evaluated on the basis of the above mechanism of aggregation and intergrowth of crystals. The established value of the specific surface energy was reasonable and agreed satisfactorily with the available literature data. Examination of crystal deposit after completion of crystallization allowed detecting crystal agglomerates of freakish and irregular forms, which may be considered as the direct confirmation of the above mechanism of intergrowth of crystals. Kinetics of crystallization, aggregation and size distribution of salt crystals after completion of crystallization have been satisfactory described by the earlier proposed model of the crystallization process. An excellent agreement was established between the experimental data on potassium nitrate solubility in aqueous solutions found in the present work and those available in the literature.

The underground organ microbial complexes of moorland spotted orchid <i>Dactylorhiza maculata</i>(L.) Soó(Orchidaceae)

This paper is focused on the first study of microbiota of a moderate climate orchid from Northern hemisphere—Moorland Spotted Orchid Dactylorhiza maculata (L.) Soó growing in its natural habitat. There have been obtained detailed data concerning bacterial communities from rhizosphere and inner tissues of young and old tubers. It was done using the biomarker analysis method where the markers were detected by gas chromatography—mass-spectrometry. It is shown that the number of bacterial genera and the bacteria amount (105 - 108 CFU per gram of dry weight) in D. maculata microbial complexes decreases from rhizosphere to old tuber to young. At the same time all three bacterial cenoses closely resemble each other in biodiversity. Their constant members are gg. Hyphomicrobium, Methylococcus, Nitrobacter, Pseudomonas and Sphingomonas (Proteobacteria), Bacillus and Clostridium (Firmicutes), Rhodococcus and Streptomyces (Actinobacteria). There were found differences peculiar to the taxonomic structure of each microbial complex. The rhizosphere is dominated by Actinobacteria while in inner tissues Proteobacteria are prevalent. The bacteria of gg. Ochrobactrum, Xanthomonas, Butyrivibrio, Corynebacterium, Mycobacterium, Propionibacterium, Sphingobacterium and specific iron reducers were shown to belong to rhizosphere community. Genera of Agrobacterium and Bifidobacterium were found only in the endophytic microbiota of the young tuber while g. Aeromonas
