Luteinizing hormone pulse frequency and amplitude in azoospermic,oligozoospermic and normal fertile ment in Turkey

AIM:To investigate the LH pulse frequency and amplitude in azoospermic and oligozoospermic patients and to compare them with normal fertile subjects.METHODS:In this controlled clinical study, 10 normal fertile male volunteers and 20 infertile patients (10 oligozoospermic and 10 azoospermic) were enrolled. Blood samples were taken every 30 minutes for 12 hours. FSH, LH and T levels were determined. LH was observed at all the blood samples, but FSH and testosterone only at the first, middle and last samples.RESULTS:The mean LH levels were significantly different between all the groups, but there was no statistical difference in the FSH levels between the fertile and oligozoospermic groups. The mean LH levels increased from the fertile towards the azoospermic groups (Pgnificantly different between all the 3 groups. The former increased while the latter decreased from the fertile to the azoospermic groups. The T levels were different statistically only between the fertile and the azoospermic groups.CONCLUSION:The more prominent is the testicular defect, the lower will be the LH pulse frequency and the higher the amplitude.

Conodont Biostratigraphy of the Middle Cambrian through Lowermost Ordovician in Hunan, South China

Since 1985, samples with a total weight of more than 14,000 kg, mainly from three key sections in western and northwestern Hunan, South China, have been processed for conodonts. In strata older than the late Late Cambrian paraconodonts have proved useful for stratigraphic subdivision and correlation. Thirteen conodont zones are proposed in the Middle Cambrian through lowermost Ordovician. The correlation between these zones and those of North China, western U. S.A., western Newfoundland, Canada, and Iran is discussed. In ascending order, these 13 zones are as follows: The gapparodus bisulcatus-Westergaardodina brevidens Zone, Shandongodus priscus-Hunanognathus tricuspidatus Zone, Westergaardodina quadrata Zone, Westergaardodina matsushitai-W. grandidens Zone, Westergaardodina lui-W. am Zone, Westergaardodina cf. calix-Prooneotodus rotundatus Zone, Proconodontus tenuiserratus Zone, Proconodontus Zone, Eoconodontus Zone, Cordylodus proavus Zone, Cordylodus intermedius Zone, Cordylodus lindstromi Zone, and Cordylodus angulatus Zone (lower part). The Westergaardodina lui-W. ani and Westergaardodina cf. calix-Prooneotodus rotundatus Zones replace the Westergaardodina proligula and Westergaardodina cf. behrae-Prooneotodus rotundatus Zones, respectively, in the lowermost Upper Cambrian. Two new species (Westergaardodina Iui and Westergaardodina ani) and one conditionally identified species (Westergaardodina cf. calix) are described.

Background:Recurrent acute cholecystitis(RAC)can occur after non-surgical treatment for acute cholecystitis(AC),and can be more severe in comparison to the first episode of *** skeletal muscle mass or adiposity have various effects in several *** aimed to clarify the relationship between RAC and body ***:Patients with AC who were treated at our hospital between January 2011 and March 2022 were *** psoas muscle mass and adipose tissue area at the third lumbar level were measured using computed tomography at the first episode of *** areas were divided by height to obtain the psoas muscle mass index(PMI)and subcutaneous/visceral adipose tissue index(SATI/VATI).According to median VATI,SATI and PMI values by sex,patients were divided into the high and low PMI *** performed propensity score matching to eliminate the baseline differences between the high PMI and low PMI groups and analyzed the cumulative incidence and predictors of ***:The entire cohort was divided into the high PMI(n=81)and low PMI(n=80)*** the propensity score-matched cohort there were 57 patients in each *** Kaplan-Meier analysis,the low PMI group and the high VATI group had a significantly higher cumulative incidence of RAC than their counterparts(log-rank P=0.001 and 0.015,respectively).In a multivariate Cox regression analysis,the hazard ratios of low PMI and low VATI for RAC were 5.250(95%confidence interval 1.083-25.450,P=0.039)and 0.158(95%confidence interval:0.026-0.937,P=0.042),***:Low skeletal muscle mass and high visceral adiposity were independent risk factors for RAC.

A high-scale integrated optical receiver including a preamplifier, a limiting amplifier, a clock and data recovery (CDR) block, and a 1:4 demultiplexer (DEMUX) has been realized in a 0.25 μm CMOS technology. Using the loop parameter optimization method and the low-jitter circuit design technique, the rms and peak-to-peak jitter of the recovered 625 MHz clock are 9.4 and 46.3 ps, respectively, which meet the jitter specifications stipulated in ITU-T recommendation g.958. In response to 2.5 gb/s PRBS input data (2 23 1), the recovered and frequency divided 625 MHz clock has a phase noise of 83.8 dBc/Hz at 20 kHz offset and the 2.5 gb/s PRBS data has been demultiplexed into four 625 Mb/s data. The power dissipation is only 0.3 W under a single 3.3 V supply (excluding output buffers).

Hepatitis A complicated with acute renal failure and high hepatocyte growth factor: A case report

A 58-year-old man was admitted to our hospital. Laboratory data showed severe liver injury and that the patient was positive for immunoglobulin M anti-hepatitis A virus(HAV) antibodies. He was also complicated with severe renal dysfunction and had an extremely high level of serum hepatocyte growth factor(HgF). Therefore, he was diagnosed with severe acute liver failure with acute renal failure(ARF) caused by HAV infection. Prognosis was expected to be poor because of complications by ARF and high serum HgF. However, liver and renal functions both improved rapidly without intensive treatment, and he was subsequently discharged from our hospital on the 21 st hospital day. Although complication with ARF and high levels of serum HgF are both important factors predicting poor prognosis in acute liver failure patients, the present case achieved a favorable outcome. Endogenous HgF might play an important role as a regenerative effector in injured livers and kidneys.

A multiphase LC voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO) with a novel capacitive coupling CL ladder filter structure is proposed in this paper and this 10 gHz eight-phase VCO is applied in clock and data recovery(CDR) circuit for 40 gb/s optical communications *** with the traditional eight-phase oscillator,this capacitive coupling structure can decrease the number of inductors to half and only of four *** VCO is designed and taped out in TSMC 65 nm CMOS *** results show the phase noise is 105.95 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from a carrier frequency of 10 *** chip area of VCO is 480 μm×700 μm and the VCO core power dissipation is 4.8 mW with the 1.0 V supply voltage.

This paper presented a 12-channel parallel optical receiver front-end amplifier array design and realization in a low cost 0.18 μm CMOS *** channel incorporated a transimpedance amplifier and a limiting *** meet the challenge for the design of high gain front-end amplifier at date rate of up to 10 gb/s,an optimized circuit topology was proposed and some bandwidth extension technologies were adopted,including regulated cascode,shunt peaking,and active negative *** the power consump-tion,crosstalk and noise,some corresponding solutions were presented such as applying isolation structure for parallel amplifier array,and optimization of noise and circuit parameters for 10 gb/s *** on-wafer measurements revealed that this chip’s operation speed reached up to 10 gb/s per channel,and 120 gb/s with 12-channel in parallel *** a DC power of 853 mW from a 1.8 V supply voltage,the chip exhibits a conversion gain of up to 92.6 dBΩ,and a 3 dB bandwidth of 8 gHz,the output swing and input sensitivity for a bit-error rate of 10 12 at 10 gb/s are 310 mV and 10 mVpp,*** chip size is 1142 μm×3816 μm including on-wafer testing pads.

Objective:To compare the two methods of rapid diagnostic tests(RDTs)and microscopy in the diagnosis of ***:RDTs and microscopy were carried out to diagnose malaria. Percentage malaria parasitaemia was calculated on thin films and all non-acute cases of plasmodiasis with less than 0.001%malaria parasitaemia were regarded as *** were simply presented as percentage positive of the total number of patients under *** results of RDTs were compared to those of microscopy while those of RDTs based on antigen were compared to those of RDTs based on ***' follow-up was made for all ***: All the 200 patients under present study tested positive to RDTs based on malaria antibodies(serum)method(100%).128 out of 200 tested positive to RDTs based on malaria antigen(whole blood)method(64%),while 118 out of 200 patients under present study tested positive to visual microscopy of Lieshman and diluted giemsa(59%).All patients that tested positive to microscopy also tested positive to RDTs based on *** patients on the second day of follow-up were non-febrile and had antimalaria ***;We conclude based on the present study that the RDTs based on malaria antigen(whole blood)method is as specific as the traditional microscopy and even appears more sensitive than *** RDTs based on antibody(serum)method is unspecific thus it should not be *** is most likely that Africa being an endemic region,formation of certain levels of malaria antibody may not be *** present study also supports the opinion that a good number of febrile cases is not due to malaria. We support WHO's report on cost effectiveness of RDTs but,recommend that only the antigen based method should possibly,be adopted in Africa and other malaria endemic regions of the world.
