spontaneous splenorenal shunts in the absence of cirrhosis have rarely been reported as a cause hyperammonemia with encephalopathy. several closure techniques of such lesions have been described. Here we report a case of a patient with no history of liver disease who developed significant confusion. After an extensive workup, he was found to have hyperammonemia and encephalopathy due to formation of a spontaneous splenorenal shunt. There was no evidence of cirrhosis on biopsy or imaging and no portal hypertension when directly measured. The shunt was 18 mm and too large for embolization so the segment of the splenic vein between the portal vein and the shunt was occluded using an Amplatzer plug. Thus, the superior mesenteric flow was directed entirely to the liver. After interventional radiology closure of the shunt using this technique there was complete resolution of *** case represents the first report of a successful closure of splenorenal shunt via percutaneous embolization of the splenic vein with an amplatzer plug using a common femoral vein approach.

Modern shared-memory multi-core processors typically have shared Level 2(L2)or Level 3(L3)*** bottlenecks and replacement strategies are the main problems of such architectures,where multiple cores try to access the shared cache *** main problem in improving memory performance is the shared cache architecture and cache *** paper documents the implementation of a Dual-Port Content Addressable Memory(DPCAM)and a modified Near-Far Access Replacement Algorithm(NFRA),which was previously proposed as a shared L2 cache layer in a multi-core *** Performance Evaluation Corporation(sPEC)Central Processing Unit(CPU)2006 benchmark workloads are used to evaluate the benefit of the shared L2 cache *** show improved performance of the multicore processor’s DPCAM and NFRA algorithms,corresponding to a higher number of concurrent accesses to shared *** new architecture significantly increases system throughput and records performance improvements of up to 8.7%on various types of sPEC 2006 *** miss rate is also improved by about 13%,with some exceptions in the sphinx3 and bzip2 *** results could open a new window for solving the long-standing problems with shared cache in multi-core processors.

Despite the importance of heavy vehicles in Australia’s transportation system,little is known on the factors influencing injury severity from accidents involving a single heavy *** vehicular crashes have been one of the main causes of fatal injuries in Australia,and this raises safety concerns for transport authorities,insurance companies,and emergency *** there have been several potential attempts to identify the factors contributing to heavy vehicle crashes and injury severity,it is still necessary to reduce the number of traffic crashes and lower the fatality rate involving heavy *** aims of this study were investigating the effects of heavy trucks’presence in accidents on the injury severity level sustained by the vehicle driver and detecting the contributing factors that lead to specific injury severity ***-and random-parameter ordered probit and logit models were applied for predicting the likelihood of three injury severity categories severe,moderate,and no injury based on data from crashes caused by heavy trucks in Victoria,Australia in *** results showed that the random-parameter ordered probit model performed better than the other models *** variables(i.e.,factors)were found to be significant,and 12 of them were found to have random parameters that were normally *** some of the investigated factors had different effects on the type of injury severity in Australia,this paper does not recommend generalizing the findings from other case *** on the findings,Victoria state authorities can have insight and enhanced understanding of the specific factors that lead to various types of injury severity involving heavy ***,the safety of all road users,including heavy vehicle drivers,can be enhanced.

This investigative study is focused on the impact of wavelet on traditional forecasting time-series models,which significantly shows the usage of wavelet *** Decomposition(WD)algorithm has been combined with various traditional forecasting time-series models,such as Least square support Vector Machine(LssVM),Artificial Neural Network(ANN)and Multivariate Adaptive Regression splines(MARs)and their effects are examined in terms of the statistical *** WD has been used as a mathematical application in traditional forecast modelling to collect periodically measured parameters,which has yielded tremendous constructive ***,it is observed that the wavelet combined models are classy compared to the various time series models in terms of performance ***,combining wavelet forecasting models has yielded much better results.

Uncertain data are common due to the increasing usage of sensors, radio frequency identification(RFID), GPs and similar devices for data collection. The causes of uncertainty include limitations of measurements, inclusion of noise, inconsistent supply voltage and delay or loss of data in transfer. In order to manage, query or mine such data, data uncertainty needs to be considered. Hence,this paper studies the problem of top-k distance-based outlier detection from uncertain data objects. In this work, an uncertain object is modelled by a probability density function of a Gaussian distribution. The naive approach of distance-based outlier detection makes use of nested loop. This approach is very costly due to the expensive distance function between two uncertain objects. Therefore,a populated-cells list(PC-list) approach of outlier detection is proposed. Using the PC-list, the proposed top-k outlier detection algorithm needs to consider only a fraction of dataset objects and hence quickly identifies candidate objects for top-k outliers. Two approximate top-k outlier detection algorithms are presented to further increase the efficiency of the top-k outlier detection *** extensive empirical study on synthetic and real datasets is also presented to prove the accuracy, efficiency and scalability of the proposed algorithms.

AIM： To observe the efficacy of peg-interferon in the treatment of hepatitis delta virus （HDV） and to identify the factors that would be predictive of the sustained viral response （sVR）. METHODs： This prospective study was conducted in Medical Unit IV of the Liaquat University of Medi- cal and Health sciences Hospital Jamshoro from June 2008 to september 2011. This study cohort included all patients of either sex who presented during this time with hepatitis B surface antigen positivity, hepa- titis B virus DNA 〉 20 000 IU/ml, serum glutamic py- ruvic transaminase （sGPT）〉 2（upper limit of normal）, HDV-RNA positivity with fibrosis stage ≥ 2. Informed consent was obtained from each of these individuals. Patients were diagnosed with hepatitis D on the ba- sis of detectable viral antibodies and the presence of HDV-RNA in their serum. A liver biopsy was performed in all cases and fibrosis staging was performed in ac- cordance with the METAVIR scoring system. All eligible patients were administered peg-interferon at a weekly dosage of 1.5 μg/kg body weight for 48 wk. HDV-RNA was assayed at the end of this treatment period and again at 24 wk later. A biochemical response was de- termined by a normalization of sGPT at the end of the treatment or during follow up. The end of treatment response was defined by a HDV-RNA negative status. A sustained virological response was defined by unde- tectable serum HDV-RNA at six months after the end of treatment. REsULTs： Among the 277 patients enrolled in our present study, 238 completed a course of peg-interfer- on therapy of which 180 （75.6%） were male and 58 （24.4%） female. Biochemical responses were achieved in 122/238 （51.3%） patients. End of treatment re- sponses were achieved in 71/238 （29.8%） cases. A sVR was achieved in 70 of these patients （29.4%）. A strong association was found between the sVR and the end of treatment responses （P = 0.001）, biochemical responses （P = 0.001） and the degree of fibrosis （P = 0.002）. CONCLUsION

Enhanced acetone sensing performance of nanostructured sm2O3 doped snO2 thick films

In the present work, we synthesized sm2O3 doped snO2 in order to prepare a selective acetone sensor with fast response, quick recovery and good repeatability. Pure as well as 2 mol.%, 4 mol.%, 6 mol.% and 8 mol.% sm2O3 doped snO2 nanostructured samples were synthesized by using a co-precipitation method. The characterization of the samples was done by thermogravimetric and differential thermo-gravimetric analysis（TG-DTA）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, field emission gun-scanning electron microscopy（FEG-sEM）, energy dispersive analysis by X-rays（EDAX）, high resolution scanning electron microscopy（HR-TEM）, selected area X-ray diffraction（sAED）, Brunauer-Emmet-Teller（BET） and ultraviolet-visible-near infrared（UV-Vis-NIR） spectroscopy techniques. The gas response studies of liquid petroleum gas, ammonia, ethanol and acetone vapor were carried out. The results showed that sm doping systematically lowered operating temperature and enhanced the gas response and selectivity for acetone. The response and recovery time for 6 mol.% sm2O3 doped snO2 thick film at the operating temperature of 250 °C were 15 and 24 s, respectively.

Ohud mountain is one of the main important historic sites in the Arab Peninsula,and it is distinguishable over the rest of the mountains in the *** extensive floristic survey has been carried out on Ohud mountain because of the rugged topography of this *** current study investigates the floristic diversity and the correspondence of environmental factors of the phytogeographical distribution of plants,based on the floristic analysis of the present *** research question is about the relationships between the species diversity and the human impacts of populated area at lowlands around Ohud mountain.A total of 59 species belonging to 56 genera and 28 families were *** had the highest contribution,about 12%of the total plant *** analysis of the life forms demonstrated the prevalence of therophytes(68%)followed by chamaephytes(24%),indicating the adaptation of these life forms to hyperarid *** chorological analysis indicated the predominance of the bi-regional taxa over the other *** of the recorded plant species belong to saharo-Arabian and sudano-Zambezian(24%)*** analysis was performed to detect the indicator species of different vegetation groups and confirmed by detrended correspondence analysis(DCA or DECORANA).It is concluded that species richness and diversity revealed clear variation along the mountain and among the studied *** species diversity and richness were more pronounced in the intermediate portion of the elevation gradients across the mountain,with a decrease in the high altitudinal *** decrease was also recorded at the lower altitudes,where human impacts clearly affected vegetation;leading to a decrease in alpha *** addition,the beta diversity among moderately highlands and lowlands was considerably high indicating the heterogeneous species composition among the studied sites along mountain *** general pattern of vegetation groups di
