Role of CARd15,dLG5 and oCTN genes polymorphisms in children with inflammatory bowel diseases

AIM: To investigate the contribution of variants of CARd15, oCTN1/2 and dLG5 genes in disease predispo- sition and phenotypes in a large Italian cohort of pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBd). METHodS: Two hundred patients with Crohn’s disease (Cd), 186 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, 434 par- ents (217 trios), and 347 healthy controls (HC) were studied. Polymorphisms of the three major variants of CARd15, 1672C/T and -207G/C SNPs for oCTN genes, IGR2096a_1 and IGR2198a_1 SNPs for the IBd5 locus, and 113G/A variant of the dLG5 gene were evaluated. Potential correlations with clinical sub-phenotypes were investigated. RESULTS: Polymorphisms of CARd15 were significantly associated with Cd, and at least one variant was found in 38% of patients (15% in HC, oR = 2.7, P omozygosis for both oCTN1/2 variants was more com- mon in Cd patients (1672TT 24%, -207CC 29%) than in HC (16% and 21%, respectively; P = 0.03), with an in- creased frequency of the TC haplotype (44.8% vs 38.3% in HC, P = 0.04). No association with the dLG5 variant was found. Cd carriers of oCTN1/2 and dLG5 variants more frequently had penetrating disease (P = 0.04 and P = 0.01), while carriers of CARd15 more frequently had ileal localization (P = 0.03). No gene-gene interaction was found. In UC patients, the TC haplotype was morefrequent (45.4%, P = 0.03), but no genotype/phenotype correlation was observed. CoNCLUSIoN: Polymorphisms of CARd15 and oCTN genes, but not dLG5 are associated with pediatric on- set of Cd. Polymorphisms of CARd15, oCTN, and dLG5 genes exert a weak influence on Cd phenotype.

Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(GM)(Mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(Mayer et al., 2022;AguilarHernández et al., 2023).

Modeling of Nucleation and Growth of M_(23)C_6 Carbide in Multi-component Fe-based Alloy

Three-dimensional atom probe （3dAP） technique has been used to study the nucleation and growth of M23C6 carbide in a supersaturated multi-component Fe-based alloy aged at 800℃. 3d images indicate that the radius of M23C6 carbide after ageing for 10 min is about 9 nm. Concentration profiles of alloy elements in the carbide are also obtained. Combined with PANdAT and Thermo-Calc software, attempts to model the early stages of precipitation are present. The calculated particle size and composition of M23C6 carbide is in good agreement with 3dAP data.

Prevalence and dietetic management of mild gastrointestinal disorders in milk-fed infants

AIM: To assess the prevalence of mild gastrointestinal disorders in milk-fed infants in paediatric practice, and to evaluate the effectiveness and satisfaction with dietetic ***: A cross-sectional epidemiological study was first carried out. A total of 285 paediatricians included 3487 children seen during a period of one week. In a second phase an observational, prospective and multicentre study was conducted and 2069 milk-fed infants with mild gastrointestinal disorders (colic, constipation, regurgitation and diarrhoea) were included. There was a baseline visit (start of treatment) and a final visit four weeks later. The effectiveness of the various Novalac formulas, as well as the satisfaction of the parents/tutors and paediatricians with the dietetic treatment were assessed at the final ***: The prevalence of mild gastrointestinal disorders was 27.8% of all paediatrician consultations (9.2%, 7.8%, 6.1% and 4.6% in relation to colic, constipation, regurgitation and diarrhoea, respectively). The several Novalac adapted milk formulas resolved 88.4% of the mild gastrointestinal disorders. depending on the type of disorder, differences in response rate were observed. The highest effectiveness was recorded with respect to diarrhoea (92.6%), followed by constipation (91.6%), colic (87.6%) and regurgitation (81%). overall, 91% of the paediatricians and 88.8% of the parents/tutors were satisfied or very satisfied with the Novalac adapted milk ***: Mild gastrointestinal disorders show a high prevalence in paediatric practice. The Novalac adapted milk formulas have been shown to be effective in treating mild gastrointestinal disorders in milk-fed infants in the context of routine clinical practice.

A mathematical model for unsteady electro-and aerodynamic processes in the presence of a plasma actuator has been elaborated through physical modeling of the dielectric barrier discharge.A specialized computational fluid dynamics package has been developed accordingly in order to calculate steady and unsteady laminar and turbulent *** the numerical simulation of the dielectric barrier discharge,in particular,two equations have been added to the Navier-Stokes equations and *** describe the distribution of the applied voltage and the charged particles *** impact of the plasma actuator on air has been accounted for through the Lorentz force,included as a source term in the momentum balance *** system of governing equations for the considered hydrodynamics and electrodynamics has been written in an arbitrary curvilinear coordinate system in dimensionless form and integrated in the framework of a finite volume method.A Tvd scheme with a third-order ISNAS flow limiter has been chosen for the convective terms *** obtained block-matrix system of linear algebraic equations has been solved by the generalized minimal residual(GMRES)method with ILU(k)*** this approach,the occurrence of a propulsion force,emerging as a result of the action of plasma actuators on a cylinder in quiescent air,has been *** possibility to mitigate the cylinder drag coefficient with the help of the plasma actuators,due to the ensuing suppression of the Karman vortex street,has been demonstrated.

A method to evaluate the properties of turbulent flow in proximity to the vehicle and close to the ground surface has been *** simulations have been performed on the basis of the Unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations(URANS)written with respect to an arbitrary curvilinear coordinate *** equations have been solved using the Spalart-Allmaras differential one-parametric turbulence *** method of artificial compressibility has been used to improve the coupling of pressure and velocity in the framework of a finite volume ***-averaged distributions of pressure fields,velocity components,streamlines in the entire area and near the tractor-trailer,as well as integral and distributed characteristic parameters(such as coefficients of pressure,friction and drag force)are *** to our results,the turbulent flow accelerates in the area of the tractor cabin and in the gap between *** the driver’s cabin,a pressure drop occurs due to a sharp acceleration of flow in this ***,pressure is restored and becomes almost constant in proximity to the edge of the *** dimensions of the separation area exceed the length of the transport system several *** agreement with experimental results is relatively limited due to the two-dimensional nature of the numerical simulations,the present approach succeeds in identifying the main physical effects involved in the considered *** might be used in future studies for initial approximate assessments of the influence of the vehicle shape on its aerodynamic characteristics.

New Features of the Pulsar B0950+08 Radiation at the Frequency of 111 MHz

Highly defective dark Tio_(2) Modified with Pt: Effects of Precursor Nature and Preparation Method on Photocatalytic Properties

The study focused on the modification with platinum of dark defective titania obtained via pulsed laser ablation. Both the method of Pt introduction and the nature of the Pt precursor were varied. All samples exhibited similar phase compositions, specific surface areas, and Pt contents. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy coupled with pulsed Co adsorption revealed increased dispersity when photoreduction and the hydroxonitrate complex (Me _(4) N) _(2) [Pt _(2) (oH) _(2) (No _(3) ) _(8) ] were used. The sample featured a high content of single-atom species and subnano-sized Pt clusters. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the photoreduction method facilitated the appearance of a larger number of Pt ^(2+) states, which appeared owing to the strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) eff ect of the transfer of electron density from the electron-saturated defects on the Tio _(2) surface to Pt ^(4+) . In the hydrogen evolution reaction, samples with a significant fraction of the Pt ^(2+) ionic component, capable of generating short-lived Pt^(0) single-atom sites under irradiation due to the SMSI eff ect, exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity. The 0.5Pt(C)/Tio_(2) -Ph sample exhibited the highest hydrogen yield with a quantum efficiency of 0.53, retaining its activity even after 8 h of operation.
