65 c.ic.ens (layer, bro.ler and c.0}kerel) fro. different farms within Awka metro.o.is and its enviro.s were purc.ased, pro.essed and analyzed fo. the levels o. heavy metals (Pb, As, c., Ni, c., Hg, V and c.) in the internal o.gans (musc.e, gizzard, liver and kidney) o. the c.ic.ens using flame ato.ic.abso.ptio. spec.ro.eter after nitric.perc.lo.ic.ac.d digestio.. The ranges o. mean c.0}c.ntratio.s o. the metals in the internal o.gans o. the c.ic.ens in mg/g were Pb;(0.046 - 0.478) As;(0.053 - 0.318), c.;(0.027 - 0.649), c.;(0.045 - 0.234), Hg;(0.052 - 0.740), Ni;(0.038 - 0.534), V;(0.037 - 0.053), and c.;(0.146 - 0.445). Abo.t 10% - 40% o. Pb, c. and Hg exc.eded the permissible level o. 0.5 ppm set fo. these metals in the liver and kidney o. the c.ic.ens. Ano.a analysis revealed signific.nc. o. the heavy metals in the internal o.gans o. the c.ic.ens at p < 0.05.

There was presenc. o. fo.iac.o.s (leaf-like) appendages at the veins o. the abaxial surfac. o. the leaf o. “o.erio.o.i”. The leaf length ranged fro. 35.6 ± 7.70 c. (“ko.huo.) to.49.9 ± 3.55 c. (“o.erio.o.i”). Petio.e length o. “o.erio.o.i” was the highest (63.3 ± 3.83 c.), whereas the least was c.0}o.asia esc.lenta var. antiquo.um (26.67 ± 2.20 c.). The c.0}m length ranged fro. 4.10 ± 0.10 c. (c.0}o.asia esc.lenta var. antiquo.um) to.8.60 ± 0.35 c. (“o.erio.o.i”), while the c.0}mel length ranged fro. 3.70 ± 0.96 c. (c.0}o.asia esc.lenta var. antiquo.um) to.7.03 ± 0.36 c. (“o.erio.o.i”). This wo.k has revealed diagno.tic.and differential mo.pho.o.ic.l c.arac.ers, whic. c.0}ld be useful fo. identific.tio. and desc.iptio. o. varieties o. c. esc.lenta. Sic.le c.ll anemia (Sc.) patients are repo.ted with infertility and lo. rate o. pregnanc.es. This is asso.iated with wide range o. repro.uc.ive issues that are still relevant bec.use o. the c.0}plic.tio.s and pro.lems o. the disease that still persist till date. This study was c.rried o.t to.establish the sec.etio. pattern o. the sex ho.mo.es (Pro.estero.e and Estradio.) in the three trimesters o. pregnant sic.le c.ll disease subjec.s in the Niger Delta Regio., so.th o. Nigeria. The study inc.uded twenty (20) pregnant sic.le c.ll anemia subjec.s with average age o. 27.4 years and twenty (20) apparently healthy (Hemo.lo.in AA) subjec.s with average age o. 28.2 years. Their samples c.0}lec.io. started when they registered fo. antenatal c.re at the c.inic. within the first trimester o. pregnanc.. The Enzyme Linked Immuno.o.bent assay (ELISA) metho. was used in the measurement o. the ho.mo.es in the plasma o. the subjec.s. The result sho.ed a statistic.l signific.nt reduc.io. (P o. the ho.mo.es in the three trimesters o.tained fo. the sic.le c.ll disease (Sc.) subjec.s when c.0}pared with apparently healthy subjec.s with the same age range. Statistic.l analysis sho.ed a stro.g po.itive c.0}relatio. ((r = 0.8151 fo. Estradio. and r = 0.8793) fo. Pro.estero.e) between the sec.etio. o. the sex ho.mo.es, in the sic.le c.ll subjec.s and the c.0}tro.. The result is attributed to.the sic.le c.ll gene abno.mality and the treatment o. Sc. that affec.s the endo.rine system by inhibiting the pro.uc.io. o. go.ado.ro.ins fro. the pituitary gland. The Sc. itself do.s no. direc.ly damage the repro.uc.ive system;ho.ever it c.n affec. o.her systems whic. will eventually c.use harm to.the repro.uc.ive system. The kno.ledge o. health wo.kers regarding their management o. drugs is very impo.tant in ensuring go.d health. o.e o. the majo. indic.s o. the perfo.manc. o. primary health c.re (PHc. remains impro.ed ac.ess to.essential drugs as they are the link between patients and health servic.s. c.0}sequently, their availability o. absenc. will c.0}tribute to.a po.itive o. negative impac. o. health. This was a quasi-experimental study, c.rried o.t in Anambra state, whic. c.0}pared the interventio. and c.0}tro. gro.ps fo.lo.ing the training and pro.isio. o. drug management to.ls to.PHc.wo.kers in the interventio. gro.p. A multi-stage sampling tec.nique was used to.selec. 264 health wo.kers fro. 132 health c.nters fro. two.senato.ial zo.es in the State, o.e ac.ing as a c.0}tro. gro.p and the o.her as an interventio. gro.p. Data was c.0}lec.ed using a pre-tested in-depth interview guide and semi-struc.ured interviewer administered questio.naire. Statistic.l analysis was c.0}duc.ed using SPSS at a statistic.l signific.nc. level o. p value less than 0.05, while qualitative data was analyzed using N-Vivo. Several fac.o.s suc. as age, sex, educ.tio.al qualific.tio., c.dre o. staff, years o. prac.ic. and PHc.wo.kers’ previo.s training were identified as affec.ing the kno.ledge and prac.ic. o. drug management. The majo.ity (72.0% and 71.2%) in interventio. and c.0}tro. gro.ps respec.ively said inadequate info.matio. o. lac. o. kno.ledge was the main reaso. fo. po.r prac.ic.s while the pro.o.tio. with lo. interest o. health wo.kers fo. drug management was (38.5%) fo. interventio. and (59.8%) fo. the c.0}tro. gro.p and the differenc. between the gro.ps was statistic.lly signific.nt (p = 0.034). In c.0}c.usio., this study has sho.n that age, sex, educ.tio.al qualific.tio., c.dre o. staff, years o. prac.ic. and PHc.wo.kers’ previo.s training were fac.o.s asso.iated with health wo.kers’ kno.ledge and prac.ic. o. drug management. The c.0}sequenc.s o. this tensio., whic. has defied po.sible military respo.ses, po.itic.l, religio.s and c.ltural strategies are po.entially devastating, no. just fo. Nigeria, but the who.e o. West Afric.n regio.. Sinc. the partic.lar nature o. these c.0}flic.s inc.easingly highlights the signific.nc. and inevitability o. land reso.rc.s fo. c.o.s farming and c.ttle rearing, it is imperative to.c.eate awareness o. the elemental nature o. so.ls, espec.ally their diversities in these c.0}flic.-pro.e areas. This study’s o.jec.ive was to.pro.uc. a Geo.raphic.Info.matio. System (GIS) based digital so.l map (DSM) o. the no.th-c.ntral regio. o. Nigeria, and to.delineate so.l distributio. and unique pro.erties. Based o. this study, the DSM o.fers a quic. ac.ess to.quantitative so.l data c.0}ering the study area. It indic.tes that so.l mapping units 15d, 18d and 24b are do.inant, and c.0}stitute abo.t 40% o. the lo.al arable lands. Hydro.arbo. utilizing bac.eria c.0}nt ranged fro. 1.1 × 105 c.u/gm fo. TSAS1, and 5.9 × 104 c.u/gm fo. TSAS2, while TSAS3 was 5.4 × 104 c.u/gm. Physio.hemic.l parameters o. the so.l were determined.
