Theoretical and Experimental Studies on Photophysical Characteristics of Low Bandgap Polymers

The basic photophysical characteristics of low bandgap polymer poly{2,7＇-9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-5- diethylhexyl-3,6-bis（5-bromothiophen-2-yl）pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione}（PDPP-F） have been systematically in- vestigated by means of theoretical and experimental methods. The quantum chemical calculations clarify the molecular structure and electronic transition properties of PDPP-F. The transient absorption data were used to compare the relaxation dynamics of PDPP-F in chlorobenzene and solid film. It is observed that the dynamics process of simulated emission relaxes much faster in comparison with that of excited state absorption in both the solution and solid film. Moreover, the excitation intensity-dependent dynamics of PDPP-F confirms that the interaction among intrachain excitons may occur under photoexcitation in the solution and solid film.

Carbon dots(CDs)with solvatochromic emission colors in different solvents have attracted much attention as a new class of luminescent nanomaterial owing to their facile synthesis and low production *** this work,we prepared two kinds of CDs with solvatochromic emissions:green emission CDs(G-CDs)and multicolor emission CDs(M-CDs).G-CDs synthesized from o-phenylenediamine exhibited weak photoluminescence emission(quantum yield 2.8%-6.1%)and 39 nm solvatochromic shifts(492-531 nm).In contrast,M-CDs prepared from o-phenylenediamine and 4-aminophenol showed 87 nm solvatochromic shift range(505-592 nm)and much higher photoluminescence quantum yield(18.4%-32.5%).The two CDs exhibited different emission,absorption,and photoluminescence *** origin of solvatochromic shifts and the formation mechanism of CDs were demonstrated by analyzing the structures and compositions of two *** percentages of pyrrolic nitrogen and amino nitrogen make wider solvatochromic shifts and higher quantum *** results were well supported by density functional theory *** effective strategy to expand solvatochromic shift range and improve quantum yields could open a new window to prepare satisfied solvatochromic carbon dots.

A supported Pt/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by immobilizing preformed colloidal Pt nanoparticles on Al2O3. The particle size and size distribution of Pt particles on Al2O3 remained the same as the colloidal nanoparticles. Selective hydrogenation of o-chloronitrobenzene to ochloroaniline was performed on the as-prepared Pt/Al2O3 nanocatalyst without using any solvent and 88.5% selectivity to o-chloroaniline at98.2% conversion of o-chloronitrobenzene was achieved. Further catalytic experiments with metal cation modification showed that some metal cations could improve the activity in various degrees while maintaining the high selectivity. Especially, 99.8% selectivity to o-chloroaniline at 100% conversion was attained with Sn4+.

The morphology dependent of migration and recombination kinetics of charge carriers in the polymersolar cell based on poly {2,7′-9,9-dioctyfiuorene-alt-5-diethylhexyl-3,6-bis（5-bromothiophen-2-yl）pyrrolo[3,4-c]-pyrrole-1,4-dione}（PDPP-F） was investigated with photo-induced charge carrier extraction by linearly increasingvoltage technique. The recombination coefficient of charge carriers decreased and the mobility of charge carriersincreased, after the mass ratio of [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester（PCBM） increased from 3：2 to 2：***, both of them were sensitive to the applied electric field and could be together responsible for theimprovement of voltage performance of polymer solar cell.

The emission of coumarin 6（C-6） doped in opal polymethylmethacrylate（PMMA） photonic crystal（PC） was effectively manipulated. Meanwhile the energy transfer（ET） of C-6 in PCs, which are infiltrated with sulforho- damine B（S-B）, was influenced by the concentration of energy acceptor in solution, the size of PMMA micro- sphere（SM） and the photonic stop band（PSB）. The results should be beneficial to people to further understand the potential application of PCs in optoelectronic fields.

Photo-induced Birefringence of Azo-dye Based on Three-dimensional Opal Photonic Crystals

A series of three-dimensional opal photonic crystals based on the polymer was synthesized and applied inthe field of photo-induced birefringence. The data show that the photo-induced birefringence（PIB） of pure Sudan IIIfilm could be enhanced by increasing the thickness of azo films. When Sudan III was distributed on thethree-dimensional opal photonic crystals, the photo-induced birefringence process could be modulated. In addition,the data also exhibit that the PIB processes with different pumping polarization directions are sensitive to the role ofphotonic crystals. The results could be beneficial to further understanding the photo-induced birefringence and uti-lizing the photonic crystals.

The effects of replacement on the optical properties of diketopyrrolopyrrole(DPP)-based polymers were discussed through replacing the thieno[3,2-b]thiophene units by thiophene *** is easy to see that the role of replacement would lead to blue shift of steady-state absorption spectrum when thieno[3,2-b]thiophene units is replaced by thiophene ***,the transient absorption data indicate that the role of replacement would not change the relaxation mechanism of polymer,but is able to adjust the photo-excitation relaxation rate of *** intensity-dependent dynamic curves show that the exciton-exciton annihilation(EEA)would participate in the relaxation process when the polymer is in the *** comparing the EEA data between the polymers,it is found that the role of replacement would change the spatial distribution of exciton.

In recent years, metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have been favored by manyresearchers due to their unique properties including long carrier diffusion length, highcarrier mobility, tunable emission wavelength, and narrow full width at half maximum,making them great application potentials in optoelectronic devices. The photoluminescencequantum yields of perovskite NCs are nearly 100%, and the device efficiencyof perovskite NC-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has been improvedsignificantly from below 0.1% to over 20%. In addition, perovskite NC-based solarcells and photodetectors have also developed rapidly in recent years. Here, we summarizethe synthesis and the basic optoelectronic properties of metal halide perovskiteNCs and introduce their applications in LEDs, solar cells, and photodetectors.

Background:Crop residue incorporation into the soil is an effective method to augment soil potassium (K)content and effects of crop residue and K fertilizer on soil K balance have been ***,their influences on other soil characteristics such as carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) characteristics and microbial activities have not been *** address this,field experiments were conducted in 2011 at Dafeng (sandy loam) and Nanjing (clay loam) in China with treatments including blank control without crop residue incorporation and K fertilizer application,0.9t·ha-1wheat straw incorporation (W1C0),0.7t·ha-1cotton residue incorporation (W0C1),0.9t·ha-1wheat straw+0.7t·ha-1cotton residue incorporation (W1C1) and two K fertilizer rates (150 and 300kg·ha-1(K2O)) during the cotton ***:Compared with control,K fertilizer treatments did not alter soil water-soluble organic carbon/soil organic carbon (WSOC/SOC) ratio,microbial biomass carbon (MBC)/SOC ratio,MBC/microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN) ratio,water inorganic nitrogen/total nitrogen ratio (WIN/TN),the number of cellulose-decomposing bacteria,or related enzymes activities,however,W0C1,W1C0 and W1C1 treatments significantly increased WSOC/SOC ratio,MBC/SOC ratio and MBC/MBN ratio,and decreased WIN/TN ratio at both sites.W0C1,W1C0 and W1C1 treatments also increased the number of soil cellulose-decomposing bacteria and activities of cellulase,β-glucosidase and *** different crop residue treatments,W1C0 and W1C1 treatments had more significant influences on above mentioned parameters than W0C1 ***,MBC/MBN ratio was the most important factor to result in the differences in the number of cellulose-decomposing bacteria and soil enzymes activities among different ***:Short-term K fertilizer application doesn’t affect soil C and N availability and microbial ***,crop residue incorporation alters soil C and N characteristics and microbial activities
