Increasing need for materials with special features have brought various new inventions,one of the most promising hope for new material with special features and functionalities is composites ***,this study report an integration of zinc nanoparticles into kenaf/polyester polymer composite to introduce new behavior to the *** composite behaviors were compared for mechanical,thermal,moisture absorption and biodegradability *** zinc Oxide nanoparticles entrenched in the kenaf/polyestaer composites net structure through chemical bonds between kenaf/znO/polyester resin,existence of znO significantly influence the mechanical and thermals properties of *** analysis based on(TGA)response revealed the integration of znO nanoparticles improved the thermal stability when thermal decomposition temperature beyond 3650 *** thermal cracking decreased with present of znO and increase with kenaf content(layers).The modulus,Tensile strength,break at elongation,flexural modulus,flexural strength and impact strength of the composites with higher content kenaf/znO nanoparticle are 560 MPa,58MPa,1.8%,1300 PMa,68 MPa and 31 MPa,***,addition of kenaf layers and znO results in larger mechanical properties enhancement,the results of the contact angle show improvement in wetting of the fibres with addition of znO nanoparticles.

This research focused on the dynamic mechanical and thermal properties of woven mat jute/kenaf/jute(J/K/J)and kenaf/jute/kenaf(K/J/K)hybrid *** mechanical analysis(DMA)and Thermo-gravimetric Analysis(TGA)were used to study the effect of layering sequence on the thermal properties of kenaf/jute hybrid *** DMA results;it was found that the differences in the stacking sequence between the kenaf/jute composites do not affect their storage modulus,loss modulus and damping *** the TGA and DMA results,it has been shown that stacking sequence has given positive effect to the kenaf/jute hybrid composite compared to pure epoxy *** is because kenaf and jute fibre has increased the Tg values of the composites,thus affect the thermal *** showed that the storage modulus for kenaf/jute hybrid composites increased compared with pure epoxy composites with increasing temperature and the values of remained almost the same at glass transition temperature(Tg),the hybrid composite perhaps due to the improved fibre/matrix interface *** preliminary analysis could provide a new direction for the creation of a novel hybrid composite which offers unique properties which cannot be accomplished in a single material system.

Stress Intensity Factor for the Interaction between a Straight Crack and a Curved Crack in Plane Elasticity

Formulation in terms of hypersingular integral equations for the interaction between straight and curved cracks in plane elasticity is obtained using the complex variable functions method. The curved length coordinate method and a suitable numerical scheme are used to solve such integrals numerically for the unknown function, which are later used to find the stress intensity factor, SIF.

Numerical solutions for cracks in an elastic half-plane

The behavior of the stress intensity factor at the tips of cracks subjected to uniaxial tension σχ^∞= p with traction-free boundary condition in half-plane elasticity is investigated. The problem is formulated into singular integral equations with the distribution dislocation function as unknown. In the formulation, we make used of a modified complex potential. Based on the appropriate quadrature formulas together with a suitable choice of collocation points, the singular integral equations are reduced to a system of linear equations for the unknown coefficients. Numerical examples show that the values of the stress intensity factor are influenced by the distance from the cracks to the boundary of the half-plane and the configuration of the cracks.

In this paper, we study the behavior of the solution at the crack edges for a nearly circular crack with developing cusps subject to shear loading. The problem of finding the resulting force can be written in the form of a hypersingular integral equation. The equation is then trans-formed into a similar equation over a circular region using conformal mapping. The equation is solved numerically for the unknown coefficients, which will later be used in finding the stress intensity factors. The sliding and tearing mode stress intensity factors are evaluated for cracks and displayed graphically. Our results seem to agree with the existing asymptotic solution.

The antibacterial activities,cytotoxicity,and wound healing of amine(3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES))-functionalised zeolite Y against normal human fibroblast cells were *** characterisation of unmodified and amine-functionalised zeolites Y (z,zA 0.04,zA 0.4,and zA 0.6) by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray powder diffraction,and energy dispersive X-ray analysis proved that the APTES molecules were grafted onto the zeolite Y surface without distorting its framework *** amine-functionalised zeolite Y samples possessed antibacterial activities against several ATCC bacteria that were correlated with the increased amount of APTES on the zeolite Y ***,when a higher concentration of APTES was grafted on the zeolite Y,higher cytotoxicity was observed against the fibroblast *** the zA 0.6 sample (zeolite Y functionalised with 0.6 M of APTES) had higher antibacterial activity,it was cytotoxic to the ***,the selection of an antibacterial agent for human treatment purposes must also consider its cytotoxicity effect against human cells to ensure it is biocompatible.

Application of Intuitionistic z-Numbers in Supplier Selection

Intuitionistic fuzzy numbers incorporate the membership and non-membership *** contrast,z-numbers consist of restriction components,with the existence of a reliability component describing the degree of certainty for the *** combination of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and z-numbers produce a new type of fuzzy numbers,namely intuitionistic z-numbers(IzN).The strength of IzN is their capability of better handling the uncertainty compared to zadeh's z-numbers since both components of z-numbers are charac-terized by the membership and non-membership functions,exhibiting the degree of the hesitancy of *** paper presents the application of such numbers in fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making problems.A decision-making model is proposed using the trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy power ordered weighted average as the aggregation function and the ranking function to rank the *** proposed model is then implemented in a supplier selection *** obtained ranking is compared to the existing models based on *** results show that the ranking order is slightly different from the existing *** analysis is performed to validate the obtained *** sensitivity analysis result shows that the best supplier is obtained using the proposed model with 80%to 100%consistency despite the drastic change of criteria *** z-numbers play a very important role in describing the uncertainty in the decision makers’opinions in solving decision-making problems.

Mode Stresses for the Interaction between Straight and Curved Cracks Problem in Plane Elasticity

In this paper, the complex variable function method is used to obtain the hypersingular integral equations for the interaction between straight and curved cracks problem in plane elasticity. The curved length coordinate method and suitable quadrature rule are used to solve the integrals for the unknown function, which are later used to evaluate the stress intensity factor, SIF. Three types of stress modes are presented for the numerical results.
