Influence of cardiorespiratory fitness and body composition on resting and post-exercise indices of vascular health in young adults

Poor cardiorespiratory fitness may mediate vascular impairments at rest and following an acute bout of exercise in young healthy *** study aimed to compare flow mediated dilation(FMd)and vascular augmentation index(AIx75)between young adults with low,moderate,and high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness before and after an acute bout of aerobic ***-three participants(22 men;21 women)between 18 and 29 years of age completed the *** were classified into low,moderate,and high health-related cardiorespiratory fitness groups according to age-and sex-based relative maximal oxygen consumption(V_O2 max)percentile *** was performed using doppler ultrasound and AIx75 was performed using pulse wave analysis at baseline and 60-min after a 30-min bout of treadmill running at 70%V_O2 max.A significant interaction(p=0.047;ηp 2=0.142)was observed,with the moderate fitness group exhibiting a higher FMd post-exercise compared with baseline([6.7%3.1%]vs.[8.5%2.8%],p=0.028;d=0.598).We found a significant main effect of group for AIx75(p=0.023;ηp 2=0.168),with the high fitness group exhibiting lower AIx75 compared to low fitness group([10%10%]vs.[2%10%],respectively,p=0.019;g=1.07).This was eliminated after covarying for body fat percentage(p=0.489).Our findings suggest that resting FMd and AIx75 responses are not significantly influenced by cardiorespiratory fitness,but FMd recovery responses to exercise may be enhanced in individuals with moderate cardiorespiratory fitness levels.

Groupoid Approach to Ergodic dynamical System of Commutative von Neumann Algebra

Given a compact and regular Hausdorff measure space (X, μ), with μ a Radon measure, it is known that the generalised space M(X) of all the positive Radon measures on X is isomorphic to the space of essentially bounded functions L∞(X, μ) on X. We confirm that the commutative von Neumann algebras M⊂B(H), with H=L2(X, μ), are unitary equivariant to the maximal ideals of the commutative algebra C(X). Subsequenly, we use the measure groupoid to formulate the algebraic and topological structures of the commutative algebra C(X) following its action on M(X) and define its representation and ergodic dynamical system on the commutative von Neumann algebras of M of B(H) .

Knowledge regarding the influence of individual traits on interaction patterns in nature can help understand the topological role of individuals within a network of intrapopulation *** tested hypotheses on the relationships between individuals'positions within networks(specialization and centrality)of 4 populations of the mouse opossum Gracilinanus agilis and their traits(i.e.,body length,body condition,tail length relative to body length,sex,reproductive condition,and botfly parasitism)and also seasonal effects in the Brazilian *** with lower body length,better body condition,and relatively shorter tail were more specialized(i.e.,less connected within the network).Individuals were also more specialized and less connected during the warm-wet *** relationship between individuals'position in the network and body traits,however,was independent of *** propose that specialization may arise not only as a result of preferred feed-ing strategies by more capable individuals(i.e.,those with better body condition and potentially prone to defend and access high-quality food resources)but alsobecause of morphological ***/younger individuals(consequently with less experience in foraging)and short-tailed individuals(less skilled to explore the vertical strata of the vegetation)would feed only on a subset of the available food resources and consequently become more ***,individuals are more specialized during the warm-wet season because of high competition(population-dense period)and higher ecological opportunities(resource-rich period).Therefore,our study reveals the relevance of individual traits inshaping interactionpatternsandspecialization inpopulations.

Structural Controls Analysis and Its Correlation with Geothermal Occurrence at Barrier Volcanic Complex (BVC), Turkana, Kenya

Geothermal is a clean energy source that is freely available in the subsurface. The exploitation of this vital resource needs intensive exploration in order to identify and quantify its occurrence. The three parameters considered when assessing the viability of a geothermal system include;heat source, fractures and fluids. Geological structures are important in transportation of fluids to and from the heat source aiding in recharge of the geothermal system and enhancing productivity. Remote sensing method was applied in mapping the structures at Barrier Volcanic Complex (BVC) by using hill shading technique which utilized four illumination angles of the sun (azimuth) i.e. 45°, 90°, 150°, and 315°, constant elevation of 45° and exaggeration of 10. The data used was Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) Satellite Imagery. ArcGIS Software was used for lineaments delineation and density mapping, PCI Geomatica was used to generate major faults, while Georose and Rockworks 17 were used to generate the rose diagrams. Geological structural analysis was done by delineating lineaments, determining the density distribution of lineaments and finally determining the structural trends of lineaments. The generated major faults in the area and the location of the occurrence of surface manifestations were compared with the generated lineaments. A total of 260 lineaments were generated whereby at 45° there was a total of 60 lineaments, at 90° 95 lineaments, at 150° 61 lineaments, and at 315° 44 lineaments. The results of structural analysis in the area as shown by the rose diagrams indicate an NNE-SSW and N-S trending of structures. In conclusion, the study area is highly fractured as indicated by the presence of numerous lineaments. These lineaments provide good recharge to the geothermal system and enhance the geothermal reservoir in the area.

Impact of Safety-Maintenance Practices on the Overall Performance of an Industry

The study aims to evaluate how safety-maintenance practices affect the mechanical engineering industry’s overall performance in Ghana. The study used a descriptive survey design technique to ascertain the type of maintenance engineering that was practiced in Ghanaian mechanical engineering workshops at the time of the study. In the mechanical engineering workshops, respondents provided both qualitative and quantitative data using a variety of data collecting instruments, with the quantitative approach being more common. The study employed Kumasi, Tamale, and Accra’s mechanical engineering workshops as a case study. The number of mechanical engineering workshop enterprises that made up the sample size for the questionnaire administration was sixty (60), chosen at random from the AGI membership registry. Primary data was gathered using interview guides and questionnaires. To analyse the data, descriptive statistics were employed. According to the study’s findings, mechanical engineering companies combined different maintenance techniques in order to best fit their organisational culture and equipment. Preventive shut-down, with a mean score of 4.78 and RII = 0.98, placing first (1st) in the Likert rating order, is the most frequently used maintenance system by respondents. The maintenance procedures employed by mechanical engineering organisations were influenced not only by their equipment and organisational culture but also by other factors such as cost, personnel expertise and external partnerships.

Schistosomiasis transmission in Zimbabwe:Modelling based on machine learning

Background:Cyclosporine-A(Cs-A),an immunosuppressant drug indicated for organ transplant patients has been associated with toxicities arising from activation of pathological *** Ginkgo biloba supplement(GBS)is an antioxidant-enhancing herbal product widely used for treating neurological and vascular ***:This study investigated the ameliorative effect of GBS on cyclosporine-A induced cardiotoxicity in Wistar ***:The study included 20 Wistar rats(n=5)and they were treated as follows:group 1 received distilled water(10 mL/kg),group 2 received Cs-A(25 mg/kg),group 3 received GBS(50 mg/kg)and group 4 received Cs-A(25 mg/kg)and GBS(50 mg/kg).All treatment were done intraperitoneal for 14 days and thereafter,animals were euthanised and heart tissues were harvested for biochemical assays as well as immunohistochemical *** was also collected for serum biochemical ***:Our results revealed that GBS reduces Cs-A induced increase of AST,ALT,ALP,LdH,and GGT levels in serum relative to Cs-A ***,increased oxido-nitrergic markers like MdA,NO,together with elevated concentrations of cholesterol,triglycerides,LdL,creatine kinase-MB,troponin-I,as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines(IL-6,and TNF-α)and heart weight index were reduced by *** Cs-A induced suppression of low-density lipoprotein,antioxidant(GSH,SOd,CAT),Na-K ATPase activities and antiapoptotic element,Bcl-2 were increased by ***,signalling pathways including ERK1/2,and mTOR as well as ventricular thickness were significantly alleviated by GBS ***:The findings suggest that GBS ameliorated Cs-A-induced cardiotoxicity by activating mTOR/ERK1/2 signalling pathways.
