Vietnam’s economy has been developing strongly in recent years;however, it is necessary to examine the impact of its economic activities on environmental quality. this study aims to evaluate the relationship between CO2 emissions and economic growth, industrial production, and foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam. The ARDL estimation was used to process the dataset from World Bank. Results showed that economic growth, industrial production, and FDI have an impact on CO2 emissions in the long run in Vietnam. Granger Causality test also indicated that there is a causal relationship between economic growth, industrial production, and CO2 emissions in Vietnam from 1990 to 2018, at 5% statistical significance level. Proposed solutions to reduce CO2 emissions but still promote economic growth toward the green growth orientation and zero carbon target attainment are as follows: 1) reduce the use of fossil energy in industrial manufacturing and replace it by renewable energy sources;2) use modern technology for all production sectors in economy;and 3) develop a legal framework for FDI projects selection and choose foreign investors with modern and low carbon emission technology.

In this study,the spatiotemporal variability of trends in extreme precipitation events in Ho Chi Minh City during the period 1980–2017 was analyzed based on several core extreme precipitation indices(Rx1 day,Rx5 day,CDD,CWD,R20 mm,R25 mm,R95 p,and SDII).The nonparametric Mann–Kendall and Sen’s slope methods were used to compute the statistical strength,stability,and magnitude of trends in annual rainfall,as well as the extreme precipitation *** found that 64%of the stations had statistically significant upward trends in yearly rainfall,with high magnitudes frequently observed in the northern and southern regions of the *** the extreme precipitation indices,only SDII and R25 mm showed dominantly significant ***,there were increasing trends in the frequency and duration at the southern and central regions of the city during the study ***,El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation and Pacific Decadal Oscillation positively correlated with the duration and negatively correlated with the intensity and frequency of extreme ***,water management plans should be adjusted appropriately to reduce the severe impacts of precipitation extremes on communities and ecosystems.

Objective Acute lung injury(ALI)is an acute clinical syndrome characterized by uncontrolled inflammation response,which causes high mortality and poor *** present study determined the protective effect and underlying mechanism of Periplaneta americana extract(PAE)against lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced *** The viability of MH-S cells was measured by *** was induced in BALB/c mice by intranasal administration of LPS(5 mg/kg),and the pathological changes,oxidative stress,myeloperoxidase activity,lactate dehydrogenase activity,inflammatory cytokine expression,edema formation,and signal pathway activation in lung tissues and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)were examined by H&E staining,MDA,SOD and CAT assays,MPO assay,ELISA,wet/dry analysis,immunofluorescence staining and Western blotting,*** The results revealed that PAE obviously inhibited the release of proinflammatory TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1βby suppressing the activation of MAPK/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathways in LPS-treated MH-S ***,PAE suppressed the neutrophil infiltration,permeability increase,pathological changes,cellular damage and death,pro-inflammatory cytokines expression,and oxidative stress upregulation,which was associated with its blockage of the MAPK/Akt/NF-κB pathway in lung tissues of ALI *** PAE may serve as a potential agent for ALI treatment due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties,which correlate to the blockage of the MAPK/NF-κB and AKT signaling pathways.

The flow through a breast wall spillway is greatly affected by the centripetal force due to a downstream curved profile. Therefore, the mean vertical pressure distribution at the outlet section is not consistent with the hydrostatic pressure law. this distribution in turn affects the discharge capacity of the breast wall spillway. this paper experimentally studies the effect of a convex downstream profile on the mean pressure variation and the discharge of a breast wall spillway without gates. It is indicated that the effect of the curvilinear streamline on the mean vertical pressure variation is significant. The regression analysis method is used to determine the water head effect Z o of the orifice opening through the mean pressure variation. A discharge prediction formula of the breast wall spillway is obtained under the limited conditions of a laboratory flume. The predicted discharge is compared to the measured discharge. A good agreement is evidenced for the free orifice flow with errors within ？5%, while a big error（20% or even more） is obtained if the hydrostatic pressure law is used for the determination of Zo.

In this paper, the system performance of a decode-and-forward(DF) full-duplex(FD) adaptive relaying network over the Rician fading environment is proposed, analyzed and demonstrated. In the first stage, the system is presented with the energy harvesting and information transmission processes. After that, the analytical expressions of the achievable throughput, the outage probability, and symbol error ratio(SER) were proposed, analyzed and demonstrated. Finally, the analytical results are also demonstrated by Monte-Carlo simulation in comparison with the closed-form expressions in the influence of the key system parameters. The results show that the analytical and simulated results match for all possible parameter values.

Rice （Oryza sativa） is sensitive to salinity, but the salt tolerance level differs among cultivars,which might result from natural variations in the genes that are responsible for salt tolerance. High-affinitypotassium transporter （HKTs） has been proven to be involved in salt tolerance in plants. Therefore, wescreened for natural nucleotide polymorphism in the coding sequence of OsHKT1, which encodes the HKTprotein in eight Vietnamese rice cultivars differing in salt tolerance level. In total, seven nucleotidesubstitutions in coding sequence of OsHKT1 were found, including two non-synonymous and five synonymoussubstitutions. Further analysis revealed that these two non-synonymous nucleotide substitutions （G50Tand T1209A） caused changes in amino acids （Gly17Val and Asp403Glu） at signal peptide and the loop ofthe sixth transmembrane domain, respectively. To assess the potential effect of these substitutions on theprotein function, the 3D structure of HKT protein variants was modelled by using PHYRE2 webserver. Theresults showed that no difference was observed when compared those predicted 3D structure of HKTprotein variants with each other. In addition, the codon bias of synonymous substitutions cannot clearlyshow correlation with salt tolerance level. It might be interesting to further investigate the functional roles ofdetected non-synonymous substitutions as it might correlate to salt tolerance in rice.

The arm driven inverted pendulum system is a highly nonlinear model,multivariable and absolutely unstable dynamic system so it is very difficult to obtain exact mathematical model and balance the inverted pendulum with variable position of the *** solve this problem,this paper presents a mathematical model for arm driven inverted pendulum in mid-position configuration and an adaptive gain scheduling linear quadratic regulator control method for the stabilizing the inverted *** proposed controllers for arm driven inverted pendulum are simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK and implemented on an experiment system using PIC 18F4431 *** result of experiment system shows the control performance to be very good in a wide range stabilization of the arm position.

AIM To determine the vaccination rates in pediatric immunosuppression-dependent inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) and review the safety and efficacy of vaccinations in this *** The electronic medical records from October 2009 to December 2015 of patients diagnosed with IBD at 10 years of age or younger and prescribed antitumor necrosis factor alpha(anti-TNF-α) therapy were reviewed for clinical history, medication history, vaccination history, and hepatitis B and varicella titers. Literature discussing vaccination response in IBD patients were identified through search of the MEDLINE database and reviewed using the key words "inflammatory bowel disease", "immunization", "vaccination", "pneumococcal", "varicella", and "hepatitis B". Non-human and non-English language studies were excluded. Search results were reviewed by authors toselect articles that addressed safety and efficacy of immunizations in inflammatory bowel *** A total of 51 patients diagnosed with IBD prior to the age of 10 and receiving anti-TNF-α therapy were identified. thirty-three percent of patients(17/51) had incomplete or no documentation of vaccinations. Sixteen case reports, cohort studies, cross-sectional studies, and randomized trials were determined through review of the literature to describe the safety and efficacy of hepatitis B, pneumococcal, and varicella immunizations in adult and pediatric patients with IBD. These studies showed that patients safely tolerated the vaccines without significant adverse effects. Importantly, IBD patients receiving immunosuppressive medications, particularly anti-TNF-α treatment, have decreased vaccine response compared to controls. However, the majority of patients are still able to achieve protective levels of specific antibodies. CONCLUSION Immunizations have been shown to be well-tolerated and protective immunity can be achieved in patients with IBD requiring immunosuppressive therapy.

The rapid growth in railway infrastructure and the construction of high-speed heavy-haul rail network,especially on ground that is basically unsuitable,poses challenges for geotechnical engineers because a large part of the money invested in the development of railway lines is often spent on track *** fact around the world,the mud pumping of subgrade fines is one of the common reasons why track performance deteriorates and track stability is *** article presents a series of laboratory tests to examine following aspects of mud pumping:(1)the mechanisms of subgrade fluidisation under undrained condition,(2)the effects of mud pumping on the engineering characteristics of ballast,and(3)the use of vertical drains to stabilize subgrade under cyclic *** undrained cyclic triaxial testing on vulnerable soft subgrade was performed by varying the cyclic stress ratio(CSR)from 0.2 to 1.0 and the loading frequency f from 1.0 to 5.0 *** is seen from the test results that for a specimen compacted at an initial dry density of 1790 kg/m3,the top portion of the specimen fluidises at CSR=0.5,irrespective of the applied loading *** cyclic railway loading,the internal redistribution of water at the top of the subgrade layer softens the soil and also reduces its *** response to these problems,this paper explains how the inclusion of vertical drains in soft subgrade will help to prevent mud pumping by alleviating the build-up of excess pore pressures under moving train loads.
