Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Solanum procumbens on complete Freund’s adjuvantinduced arthritis rat ***:We isolated and identified five compounds in the ethanolsoluble Solanum procumbens extract(SP)with anti-inflammatory effects,including ursolic acid,β-sitosterol,hexadecanoic acid,cisvaccenic acid,and vanillic ***,we investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of SP on rheumatoid arthritis symptoms,including paw volumes,local temperatures,withdrawal latency,and mechanical withdrawal threshold at the hind paw and white blood cell(WBC)number from complete Freund’s adjuvant-induced arthritis rat ***:We have successfully established a complete Freund’s adjuvant-induced arthritis rat model at a low dose(1 mg/mL).SP extract significantly reduced paw volumes(P<0.05),prolonged withdrawal latencies(P<0.05),decreased local temperature,and increased the mechanical withdrawal threshold(P<0.05),but only SP extract at the dose of 300 mg/kg significantly decreased WBC ***:SP extract could be a potential medication candidate with anti-inflammatory effects for arthritis,but it requires further investigation into the mechanism of the SP and its effectiveness on other models as well as clinical trials.

Congenital Dislocation of the Hip in Children between the Ages of One and Three: Open Reduction and Modified Salter Innominate Osteotomy Combined with Fibular Allograft

Background: Innominate osteotomy procedures have been widely used as an integral component of combined surgery to treat developmental dysplasia of the hip in children. Autograft concern is further supported by authors who suggest the routine use of internal fixation. Problems such as graft extrusion, rotation and absorption, leading to loss of acetabular correction, were often noted in cases previously treated at our National Hospital for Pediatrics. This retrospective study reviewed the radiographic results of this treatment protocol in 106 hips developmental dislocated hips which met our inclusion criteria. The efficacy of this method to achieve and maintain a well covered and stable hip was the main objective of the study. Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the radiographs of 106 hips presenting with developmental dislocation which were treated by modified Salter’s innomiate osteotomy and using a fibular allograft as the interposition material. Dislocations of the hip were graded using the T?nnis system. Measurement of the acetabular index (AI) was the main variable. The minimum follow up period was 2 years. Possible complications such as loss of acetabular correction, hip redislocation, graft extrusion or resorption, the need for osteotomy internal fixation, delayed or non union, infection or avascular necrosis (AVN) were documented in this series. Results: Between January 2004 and December 2008, 106 surgeries were performed in 95 patients. Sixty-three (86.3%) of the patients were girls and ten (13.7%) were boys, thirteen patients (13.7%) were between twelve and eighteen months old at the time of the operation, the remaining eighty-two (86.3%) patients being between eighteen and thirty-six months old, with the mean age of 22.6 months at the time of surgery. The Cult of Tian Hou in the Mekong Delta： The Formation and Characteristics

Vietnam is the land of all original and absorbed goddesses in Southeast Asia. Local goddesses such as Lieu Hanh, Ba Chua Kho, Thien Yana Ponagar, Ba Den, Ba Chua Xu or external goddess such as Xi Wangmu （西王母）, Kwan Yin （观音）, Yao Chi Jin Mu （瑶池金母）, Tian Hou （天後）, Mother Dragon Goddess （龙母娘娘）, Jin Hua Goddess （金花夫人） etc. all are worshipped simultaneously throughout the nation. Among those, the cult of Tian Hou has become the most typical external goddess belief which absorbs both the cults of Kwan Yin and Xi Wang Mu, at the certain extend, become a symbol of harmonization. The cult of Tian Hou originated in Fujian, China and was gradually brought into South Vietnam after the footsteps of South Chinese immigrants during 17th-20th century. There are around 50 Tian Hou temples built and owned by the ethnic Hoa （华族/Chinese） and the Vietnamese at the Mekong River Delta. In the Mekong residents＇ mind, Tian Hou is seen as a maritime goddess, a protector, a benevolent Mother Goddess who has been accepted through the channels of Mahayana Buddhism and traditional goddess beliefs in the local communities. This paper is to investigate the current situation of the cult of Tian Hou in the Mekong River Delta to highlight the basic characteristics of this cult in the region.

Cable-Stay Bridges——Investigation of Cable Rupture

As the bridge engineering community sets sails to use longer and longer spans, more and more sophisticated analysis models have to be used in the design process. One of the significant problems represents cable rupture of cable stays. The problem is also addressed in guidelines for cable-stayed bridge design such as PTI （Post-tensioning Institute） Recommendations and EC3 by quasi-static analyses using DAF （dynamic amplification factors） to account dynamic effects, which can be conducted instead ofnsing dynamic analysis. The results show that the value DAF depends on the cable rupture location and on the type and location of the examined state. Dynamic time history analysis is recommended. Some projects examples are highlighted in the paper, where the importance of above mentioned topic has been investigated, following different regulations and approaches. Professional bridge analysis and design sottware solution RM Bridge has been used for all investigations. The application can fulfill all requirements and deliver expected and accurate results. In addition, RM Bridge Sottware also helps engineers as a tool to optimize structure design and increase resistance capacity for each element to ensure the structural safety in service stage.

Nickel composite plating with fly ash as inert particle

The Ni/FA composite plating was realized by electrodeposition with fly ash （FA） as inert particles. The main compositions of FA are 72% SiO2 and 25% A1203 in the size of 3-7 Ixm. Electrodeposition was performed in Watts bath containing FA with concentrations of 5, 20, 50 g/L, current densities of 2 and 4 A/dm2, temperature of 50 ~C and magnetic stirring of 250 r/min. Scanning electron microscope （SEM＋EDX）, electrochemical and mechanical technique were used to study morphology, composition and properties of coating. FA content in deposit is dependent on the FA concentration in solution, as well as the plating parameters. Since FA particles were incorporated in the coating, the mechanical and electrochemical properties of the coating were increased. The microhardness of Ni/FA composite plating reaches HV 430 in comparison with HV 198 of pure Ni coating. It was confirmed by electrochemical measurement that the corrosion resistance of Ni/FA composite coating was higher than that of pure Ni.

ALMA observations of the circumstellar envelope around EP Aqr

Atacama Large Millimetre/sub-millimetre Array(ALMA) observations of CO(1–0) and CO(2–1) emissions from the circumstellar envelope of the asymptotic giant branch(AGB) star EP Aqr have been made with four times better spatial resolution than previously available. They are analysed with emphasis on the de-projection in space of the effective emissivity and flux of matter using as input a prescribed configuration of the velocity field, assumed to be radial. The data are found to display an intrinsic axisymmetry with respect to an axis making a small angle with respect to the line of sight. A broad range of wind configurations, from prolate(bipolar) to oblate(equatorial) has been studied and found to be accompanied by significant equatorial emission. Qualitatively, the effective emissivity is enhanced near the equator to produce the central narrow component observed in the Doppler velocity spectra and its dependence on star latitude generally follows that of the wind velocity with the exception of an omni-present depression near the poles. In particular, large equatorial expansion velocities produce a flared disc or a ring of effective emissivity and mass loss. The effect on the determination of the orientation of the star axis of radial velocity gradients, and possibly competing rotation and expansion in the equatorial disc, is discussed. In general,the flux of matter is found to reach a broad maximum at distances of the order of 500 AU from the *** are given that may be used to favour one wind velocity distribution over another. As a result of the improved quality of the data, a deeper understanding of the constraints imposed on morphology and kinematics has been obtained.

Behavior of noncircular tunnels excavated in stratified rock masses-Case of underground coal mines

The amount of tunnels excavated along stratified/sedimentary rock masses in Quangninh coal mine area,Vietnam, is gradually increasing. Rock mass in Quangninh is characterized by beddings between rock layers. The behavior of stratified rock masses surrounding the tunnels depends on both the intact rock and the beddings between rock layers. The main characteristics of stratified rock masses that need to be considered are their heterogeneity and anisotropy. Depending on the dip angle of rock layers, movements and failure zones developed surrounding the tunnels can be asymmetrical over the vertical axis of tunnel. This asymmetry causes adverse behaviors of the tunnel structures. The objective of this study is to highlight convergences and yielded zones developed in rock masses surrounding noncircular tunnels in Quangninh coal mine area using a finite element method. The presence of bedding joints is explicitly simulated. The numerical results indicated that with the increase in dip angle of bedding joints, the stress asymmetry over the tunnel vertical axis increases. It gradually leads to an asymmetry of the failure zone surrounding the tunnel. An increase of rock mass quality means a decrease of rock mass sensitivity to the discontinuities. In addition,a dip angle of the bedding joints of approximately 45° could be considered as the critical angle at which the rock mass mechanism changes between sliding and bending.

In recent years,water for agricultural production gradually became a significant challenge in the context of climate change in *** solutions are required,which consider the use of resources for both human needs and ecology,and that account for the equitable distribution and the livelihood of the farmers now and in the *** particular,the farmers in the province of Quang Nam faring water shortage in the cultivation of paddy in the summer-autumn *** arise regarding the sharing of the water between the farmers,the drinking water company and the hydropower *** the context of climate change,the water shortage is expected to increase in the *** article presents the results of participatory action research (PAR) approach to develop a local level mechanism for water sharing,in which stakeholders actively *** sharing mechanism was developed,envisioning a sustainable solution for inclusive water *** mechanism was successfully implemented in two cases,one at commune level (Tho stream) and one at the district level (Mo stream).The participatory approach proved to be successful in setting up a broadly acceptable mechanism that will need to be further incorporated in the institutional set-up.
