Dexa.etha.one—a.potent synthetic glucocorticoid—ha. multiple dia.nostic a.d thera.eutic a.plica.ions in wide ra.ge of a.e groups. However, the side-effects of dexa.etha.one (Dex) trea.ment including those on development a.e becoming increa.ingly a.pa.ent. Since the developmenta. processes a.e energy-dependent, we exa.ined the effects of chronic Dex trea.ment on kinetics properties of liver mitochondria. F0.F1-a.Pa.e a.d mitochondria. membra.e lipid profiles in ra.s belonging to different developmenta. a.e groups (2, 3, 4 a.d 5 weeks) a.d in a.ults (~8 weeks). The a.ima.s were trea.ed with a.subcuta.eous dose of 2 mg of Dex/kg body weight (or sa.ine a. vehicle) for three a.terna.ive da.s (a. a.ound 7.00 a.M.) prior to the da. of sa.rifice. Dex trea.ment resulted in significa.t reduction in F0.F1-a.Pa.e a.tivity in developmenta. a.e groups a.d in a.ults a. compa.ed to their a.e-ma.ched vehicle-trea.ed control group. The substra.e kinetics a.a.ysis of F0.F1-a.Pa.e resolved Km a.d Vma. va.ues in 3 components in a.l the control a.e groups;wherea. Dex trea.ment significa.tly a.tered the Km a.d Vma. va.ues or a.olished the entire components in a.e-specific ma.ner. Dex trea.ment significa.tly lowered the energy of a.tiva.ion a.d a.tered pha.e tra.sition tempera.ure (TtoC) in a.l the developmenta. a.e groups a.d in a.ults. Dex trea.ment significa.tly increa.ed the contents of tota. phospholipid (TPL), individua. phospholipids cla.ses a.d cholesterol (CHL) in a.l the developmenta. a.e groups wherea. opposite pa.tern wa. observed in a.ults. The mitochondria. membra.e beca.e more fluidized in the developing a.e groups (2, 4 a.d 5 weeks);wherea. no cha.ge wa. observed in 3-week a.d a.ult groups following Dex trea.ment.
