Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the 3^(rd) leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. More than 80% of HCCs arise within chronic liver disease resulting from viral hepatitis, alcohol, hemochromatosis, obesity and metabolic syndrome or genotoxins. Projections based on Western lifestyle and its metabolic consequences anticipate a further increase in incidence, despite recent breakthroughs in the management of viral hepatitis. HCCs display high heterogeneity of molecular phenotypes, which challenges clinical management. However, emerging molecular classifications of HCCs have not yet formed a unified corpus translatable to the clinical practice. Thus, patient management is currently based upon tumor number, size, vascular invasion, performance status and functional liver reserve. Nonetheless, an impressive body of molecular evidence emerged within the last 20 years and is becoming increasingly available to medical practitioners and researchers in the form of repositories. Therefore, the aim this work is to review molecular data underlying HCC classifications and to organize this corpus into the major dimensions explaining HCC phenotypic diversity. Major efforts have been recently made worldwide toward a unifying "clinically-friendly" molecular landscape. As a result, a consensus emerges on three major dimensions explaining the HCC heterogeneity. In the first dimension, tumor cell proliferation and differentiation enabled allocation of HCCs to two major classes presenting profoundly different clinical aggressiveness. In the second dimension, HCC microenvironment and tumor immunity underlie recent therapeutic breakthroughs prolonging patients' survival. In the third dimension,metabolic reprogramming, with the recent emergence of subclass-specific metabolic profiles, may lead to adaptive and combined therapeutic approaches. Histone acetylation/deacetylation is a dynamic process and plays an important role in gene regulation. Histone acetylation homeostasis is regulated by antagonist actions of histone acetyltransferases （HAT） and deacetylases （HDAC）. Plant genome encodes multiple HATs and HDACs. The Arabidopsis HAT gene AtGCNS/HAGlplays an essential role in many plant development processes, such as meristem function, cell differentiation, leaf and floral organogenesis, and responses to environmental conditions such as light and cold, indicating an important role of this HAT in the regulation of both long-term developmental switches and short-term inducible gene expression. AtGCN5 targets to a large number of promoters and is required for acetylation of several histone H3 lysine residues. Recruitment of AtGCN5 to target promoters is likely to be mediated by direct or indirect interaction with DNA-binding transcription factors and/or by interaction with acetylated histone lysine residues on the targets. Interplay between AtGCN5 and other HATand HDAC is demonstrated to control specific regulatory pathways. Analysis of the role of AtGCN5 in light-inducible gene expression suggests a function of AtGCN5 in preparing chromatin commitment for priming inducible gene activation in plants.

There are a great variety of commercial nickel alloys mainly because nickel is able to dissolve a large amount of alloying elements while maintaining a single ductile austenitic phase. Nickel alloys are generally designed for and used in highly aggressive environments, for example, those where stainless steels may experience pitting corrosion or environmentally assisted cracking. While nickel alloys are generally resistant to pitting corrosion in chloride-containing environments, they may be prone to crevice corrosion attack. Addition of chromium, molybdenum and tungsten increases the localized corrosion resistance of nickel alloys. This review on the resistance to localized corrosion of nickel alloys includes specific environments such as those present in oil and gas upstream operations, in the chemical process industry and in seawater service.

Hierarchical ZnO@metal-organic framework @polyaniline(ZnO@MOF@PANI) core-shell nanorod arrays on carbon cloth has been fabricated by combining electrodeposition and hydrothermal method. Well-ordered Zn O nanorods not only act as a scaffold for growth of MOF/PANI shell but also as Zn source for the formation of MOF. The morphology of ZnO@MOF@PANI composite is greatly influenced by the number of PANI electrodeposition cycles. Their structural and electrochemical properties were characterized with different techniques. The results indicate that the Zn O@MOF@PANI with 13 CV cycles of PANI deposition demonstrates the maximum specific capacitance of 340.7 F g-1 at 1.0 A g-1, good rate capability with84.3% capacitance retention from 1.0 to 10 A g-1 and excellent cycling life of 82.5% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles at high current density of 2.0 A g-1. This optimized core-shell nanoarchitecture endows the composite electrode with short ion diffusion pathway, rapid ion/electron transfer and high utilization of active materials, which thus result in excellent electrochemical performance of the ternary composite.

Bonding effect of liquid magnesium with open-celled carbon foam in interpenetrating phase composite

The issue of bonding formation in liquid metal/open-celled carbon foam(C_(of))systems was examined,taking into account the practical aspects of the synthesis of a new type of Mg-C metal material *** problem is complex due to the strong oxidation and intense evaporation of liquid magnesium,as well as the 3D geometry of the carbon component,where metal transport occurred through the foam cells’*** experiments performed at 700℃ in ceramic crucibles showed that spontaneous carbon foam infiltration by liquid metal is impossible under the applied conditions,either in an air atmosphere coupled with flux protection or under argon *** tests performed in a UHV chamber filled with static pure Ar by a sessile drop method,coupled with non-contact heating and capillary purification at a test temperature of 700℃ directly in the UHV chamber,showed non-wetting behavior of the Mg/C_(of)couple with a correspondingly high contact angle of about 135°.The graphite capillary was then moved down,the liquid drop being slightly pressed into the foam,but these changes did not induce effective foam *** the short contact time for the sessile drop test under an argon atmosphere,SEM+WDS analysis of the solidified Mg/C_(of)couple revealed the formation of an MgO interlayer at the interface,with a thickness of approx.1μ*** experimentally demonstrated presence of oxygen in the carbon foam sample,both before and after its contact with magnesium,points to oxide-type bonding being established between Mg and C_(of).This observation is in a good agreement with previous reports on the interface characterization of magnesium matrix composites reinforced with glassy carbon materials and carbon fibers by stir casting and pressure *** on the findings of this study,a general structural scheme of the bonding process between carbon foam and liquid magnesium,as an important stage in the syntheses of Mg-C composites,was proposed.

In this paper,new improvements of methodological concepts upon examining wettability of high vapor pressure liquid metal systems(***-based alloys)in contact with refractory materials,are presented and *** this regard,high-temperature experiments on molten magnesium(Mg)in contact with graphite as a refractory substrate,were performed by utilizing a newly developed testing device and by applying a suitable experimental *** wetting experiments were carried out by the sessile drop method and under identical testing conditions(700℃/10 min under a protective gas atmosphere).Two different procedures were applied:the classical contact heating(CH)or a newly introduced capillary purification(CP)*** contact angle behaviors observed under the same conditions were strongly influenced by the applied ***,in the case of using the CH procedure,a presence of native surface oxide layer on the metal surface hinders the observations of melting process,making not possible to experimentally determine the wetting kinetics curveθ=f(t).Contrarily,during the wetting test performed on the Mg/graphite couple by applying the CP procedure,the native surface oxide layer was mechanically removed during the squeezing of the molten Mg through the hole of a ***,an oxide-free squeezed Mg-drop with regular and spherical shape was successfully obtained and dispensed on the graphite ***,the reliable contact angle value aroundθ=150°for the Mg/graphite system,was measured within the wetting test.

BACKGROUND： Neuronal activity in cortical areas regulates neurodevelopment by interacting with defined genetic programs to shape the mature central nervous system. Electrical activity is conveyed to sensory cortical areas via intracortical and thalamocortical neurons, and includes oscillatory patterns that have been measured across cortical regions. OBJECTIVE： In this work, we review the most recent findings about how electrical activity shapes the developmental assembly of functional circuitry in the somatosensory cortex, with an emphasis on intemeuron maturation and integration. We include studies on the effect of various neurotransmitters and on the influence of thalamocortical afferent activity on circuit development. We additionally reviewed studies describing network activity patterns. METHODS： We conducted an extensive literature search using both the PubMed and Google Scholar search engines. The following keywords were used in various iterations：＂intemeuron＂, ＂somatosensory＂, ＂development＂, ＂activity＂, ＂network patterns＂, ＂thalamocortical＂, ＂NMDA receptor＂, ＂plasticity＂. We additionally selected papers known to us from past reading, and those recommended to us by reviewers and members of our lab. RESULTS： We reviewed a total of 132 articles that focused on the role of activity in interneuronal migration, maturation, and circuit development, as well as the source of electrical inputs and pattems of cortical activity in the somatosensory cortex. 79 of these papers included in this timely review were written between 2007 and 2016. CONCLUSIONS： Neuronal activity shapes the developmental assembly of functional circuitry in the somatosensory cortical interneurons. This activity impacts nearly every aspect of development and acquisition of mature neuronal characteristics, and may contribute to changing phenotypes, altered transmitter expression, and plasticity in the adult.
