Glyceryl monooleate(GMO)is a polar lipid that can exist in various liquid crystalline phases in the presence of different amounts of *** is regarded as a permeation enhancer due to its amphiphilic *** phases of GMO/solvent system containing sodium fluorescein were prepared to compare permeability using confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM).GMO was melted in a vial in a water bath heated to 45℃.Propylene glycol and hexanediol were homogeneously dissolved in the melted *** fluorescein in aqueous solution was diluted to various ratios and thoroughly mixed by an ultrasonic *** GMO/Solvent system with fluorescein was applied onto the epidermal side of excised pig skin and incubated *** was performed to observe how the GMO/solvent system in its different phases affect skin *** and lamellar phase formulations enhanced the fluorescein permeation through the stratum corneum.A solution system had the weakest permeability compared to the other two *** to the amphiphilic nature of GMO,cubic and lamellar phases might reduce the barrier function of stratum corneum which was observed by CLSM as fluorescein accumulated in the *** on the results,the glyceryl monooleate lyotropic mixtures could be applied to enhance skin permeation in various topical and transdermal formulations.

Anticholinesterase does not allow adequate reversal of the deep neuromuscular blockade (NMB) achieved using high doses of relaxants. A 71-year-old female patient (weight 70 kg, height 169 cm) was scheduled for a transurethral resection of a bladder tumor under general anesthesia. We administered rocuronium 30 mg (0.43 mg/kg) for tracheal intubation due to an estimated short surgical time. During the operation, an additional rocuronium 10 mg was injected. The surgical procedure ended abruptly 10 minutes after receiving the last dose of rocuronium. At the end of surgery, the patient received pyridostigmine as a reversal. However, residual NMB persisted, and neuromuscular monitoring did not show the expected degree of recovery. Sugammadex 2 mg/kg was used, and the patient experienced complete reversal from NMB in just 2 min.

＜Abstract＞The two-channel SAW sensor was proposed for the simultaneous detection of the density and viscosity products, relative permittivity and conductivity. The operating frequency is 30, 50 and 100 MHz. The loss change for ethanol/distilled water mixed solution is small. Based on the theory for relative permittivity, the loss change is zero with zero conductivity solution. Therefore, the results are reasonable. Even though the insertion loss was small,the frequency jumping in the oscillation circuit was observed at high concentrations. When the water or solution with a high dielectric constant is loaded onto the free surface, the SAW is applied as the propagating wave. By decreasing the dielectric constant of the liquid, the sensor output is influenced by a spurious component, such as a surface- skimming wave. To reduce the influence of the spurious component and to expand the dynamic range for relative permittivity, metal strip configuration must be used on the free surface. We have measured distilled water and various mixed solutions using the SAW sensor system. Air and distilled water were alternately and continuously introduced onto the sensor surface condition. Forbidden frequency jumping was seen to occur. Based on the approximate theory, the sensor response of frequency shows sigmoid profile. Therefore, the relation ships between frequency shift and conductivity is not linear at low conductivity. We measured various samples using the developed system. The results of glycerol/distilled water mixed solutions shows the density and viscosity products and the ordinate frequency shift. It is found that the frequency shift is proportional to the square root of density and viscosity products. This corresponds to the approximate theory. As shown these results, SAW biosensor is useful not only for detecting the physical values of fluids, but also as a monitor for the medicine, food industry and the environment.

Aronia melamocarpa (AM) is a rich source of anthocyanins, which are known to help prevent obesity. The cyanidine-3-O-galactoside enriched AM extract (AM-Ex) containing more cyanidine-3-O-galactoside than conventional AM extract was recently developed. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of AM-Ex on adipogenesis and its action mechanisms in vitro using 3T3-L1 adipocytes. To examine the anti-obesity effect of AM-Ex, 3T3-L1 cells were induced adipocyte differentiation and incubated with various concentration of AM-Ex. Lipid accumulation, cellular triglyceride content, mRNA expression of transcription factors and adipogenic genes were analyzed. Treatment with 100 - 400 μg/mL of AM-Ex resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in adipocyte differentiation and triglyceride accumulation. mRNA expression of adipogenic transcription factors, such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma, CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α, sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 were decreased. The level of gene expression of adipogenesis and lipogenesis-related genes, such as adipocyte protein 2, lipoprotein lipase, acetyl-CoA carboxylase, ATP-citrate lyase and fatty acid synthase were decreased. These results suggest that AM-Ex alleviated risk factors related to obesity by modulating multiple pathways associated with adipogenesis.

Microsomal epoxide hydrolase (EPHX1) is involved in the activation and detoxification of exogenous chemicals. Genetic polymorphisms in EPHX1 have been associated with the development of leukemia. To investigate an association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of EPHX1 and risk factors for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in Korean children, we genotyped two SNPs, Tyr113His (rs1051740) and His139Arg (rs2234922) in 185 childhood ALL cases and 536 healthy controls. Genotyping for these two SNPs was performed by simplex pyrosequencing assay and high-resolution melt analysis, respectively. We found that the Tyr113His genotype was associated with a decreased risk of childhood ALL (odds ratio, OR = 0.64, 95% confidence interval, CI = 0.43 - 0.93;p = 0.02). There was no association between His139Arg and the combined genotypes and the risk of childhood ALL. These results suggest that the EPHX1 113TyrHis genotype may protect against leukemogenesis in childhood.

We investigate theoretically the population dynamics and the second-order correlation functions of photon emissions from the biexciton-exciton system of a single quantum dot with excitation from pulses to continuous wave. The dynamic equations of the correlation functions are deduced by applying quantum regression theorem to optical Bloch equations. The influences of excitation pulse width on the correlation function have been discussed in detail.
