Banana is a tropical crop cultivated in warm.*** stress in Egypt is m.king banana crops less *** acid(ABA),a key plant horm.ne,regulates m.tabolic and physiological processes and protects plants from.a variety of *** vitro growing banana shoots were pre-treated with ABA at four concentrations(0,25,50,and 100 m.)and chilled at 5℃for 24 h,followed by a six-day recovery period at 25℃.By com.aring ABA treatm.nts to both positive and negative controls,physiological and biochem.cal changes were *** stress(5℃)caused a considerable increase in lipid peroxidation and ion leakage and reduced photosynthetic pigm.nts in cold-treated *** the concentration of ABA to 100μm.enhanced the response to chilling *** had a m.jor effect on m.tigating chilling injury in banana shoots by keeping cell m.m.ranes stable and lowering the am.unt of ion leakage and lipid ***,ABA significantly m.intained the photosynthetic pigm.nt concentration of banana shoots;accum.lated higher am.unts of total soluble carbohydrates and proline;and increased DPPH radical scavenging ***,ABA treatm.nt enhanced cold tolerance in chilling-stressed banana shoots through the regulation of antioxidant enzym. ***,the results show that ABA is a good choice for protecting banana shoots from.the dam.ge caused by chilling stress.

Aim. To determ.ne the frequency of genetic deletions within the azoosperm.a factors in Egyptian infertile m.les. m.thods: The Yq m.crodeletions in 33 infertile m.les with undetectable chrom.som.l anom.lies were exam.ned by m.tiplex polym.rase chain reaction (PCR). Deletions were confirm.d using single PCR am.lifications. Results: Four out of the total 33 (12 %) m.n had Yq11 m.crodeletions, thus supporting the average reported figures in other populations. Three of those 4 cases had single short tandem.sequence deletions with discrete histological findings of their testes. Single sY272 deletion within AZFc was associated with Sertoli cell only syndrom., whereas a patient with isolated sY84 deletion within AZFa had im.ature testicular structure. The rem.ining case had a large deletion in AZFa-c and short stature. Conclusion: The present study supports the hypothesis that the Yqn encom.asses genetic determ.nants of stature besides genes controlling sperm.togenesis.

University(ASU)in *** the objective of strengthening the departm.ntal capacities of biosafety,a series of activities were carried out between October 2019,and January 2020 to raise awareness,along with instilling standard biosafety practices and procedures am.ng laboratory staff including non-health *** staff were categorized according to their biosafety knowledge into three tiers:tier(1):with zero to m.nim.l knowledge,tier(2):with basic knowledge,tier(3):with satisfactory *** based activities were designed to align with their job ***:44 selected laboratory staff were trained on biosafety practices:12 from.tier(1),19 from.tier(2)and 13 constituted tier(3).Through regular follow-ups,the im.act of the im.lem.ted training plan was reflected on the practices and knowledge of all laboratory *** am.ng health professions has increased by 60%.Furtherm.re,6 staff m.m.ers have granted a biosafety certification by International Federation of Biosafety Association(IFBSA).Conclusion:establishing a culture of biosafety within m.crobiology research laboratories is integral to safe research *** with developing local and national biosafety regulations and policies will ensure research advancem.nt without com.rom.sing public health or environm.ntal safety.

Head traum. is one of com.on injury related m.rtality and m.rbidity. Blood biom.rkers are valuable tools for the identification and characterization of initial injury and secondary pathological processes for traum.tic brain injury (TBI). This study evaluated the perform.nce of a recently developed visfatin and its correlation with other blood circulating biom.rkers that reflect specific pathological m.chanism. including neuro inflam.atory, neuron injury and oxidative dam.ge in m.derate to severe TBI patients. Peripheral blood was taken from.TBI patients (n = 78) at hospital adm.ssion, m.xim.m.6 hours post-injury. Severity and neurological outcom. were assessed using the Glasgow Com. Scale (GCS) and blood level of: visfatin, neuron specific enolase (NSE), m.londialdehyde (m.A), superoxide dism.tase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH). Concentrations of visfatin (28 ± 1.68 μg/L, 25 ± 2.09 μg/L) was significantly higher (p m.derate groups of TBI patients respectively com.ared to control group (7.62 ± 0.87 μg/L), NSE concentrations also were significantly higher (p m., 13.49 ± 2.66 ng/m.) com.ared to control group (4.3 ± 0.52 ng/m.), m.A was significantly elevated (p m.l/L) com.ared to control group (5.12 ± 0.76 μm.l/L), while SOD (245.12 ± 24.2 U/L, 276.097 ± 30.8 U/L) and GSH (112.07 ± 2.09 μm.l/L, 119.26 ± 2.7 μm.l/L) were highly significantly decreased (p m.ared to control group (304.17 ± 27.17 U/L and 151.64 ± 9.9 μm.l/L) respectively. Visfatin was positively correlated with NSE and m.A, while there was negative correlation with SOD and GSH. In conclusion blood level of visfatin in correlation with other blood biom.rkers can be used for prediction of severity of TBI cases.

New series of oxovanadium.(IV) com.lexes isolated from.2,4,6-tris-(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (L1) are incorporated and portrayed using spectroscopic (IR, UV-Vis, ESR, m.ss spectrom.tric), m.gnetic m.m.nt, therm.l and cyclic voltam.etry m.asurem.nts. The results dem.nstrate that L1 acts in various styles of chelation with [V3O3(L1)(SO4)3(EtOH)1/2(H2O)3/2] 1), [VO(L1)(2,4-pentadionate)]·Cl·4HCl 2), [V2O2(L1)(SO4)2(EtOH)5/2] 3), [V2O2(L1)(SO4)2(EtOH)3/2(H2O)1/2] 4), [VO(L1)SO4 (H2O)3/2]·2.5H2O 5) and [V2O2(L1)(SO4)2(H2O)]·H2O 6). The values of m.gnetic m.m.nts and spectral studies suggest a square-pyram.dal geom.try around the V (IV) ion for all com.lexes. The m.lar conductance values suggest that the com.lexes are non-electrolyte, except the [VO(L1) (2,4-pentadionate)] Cl·4HCl. m.lecular m.deling calculates the bond length, bond angle, chem.cal reactivity, energy com.onents (Kcal/m.l) and binding energy (Kcal/m.l) for the isolated com.lexes. The in vitro antibacterial studies of these com.lexes screened against pathogenic bacteria prove them.as growth inhibiting agents. Antitum.r activity is carried out in vitro on hum.n m.m.ary gland (breast) m.F-7 and cervical cancer cell-HeLa has shown that [VO(L1)SO4(H2O)3/2]·2.5 H2O and [VO(L1)(2,4-pentadionate)] Cl·4HCl com.lexes display the highest powerful activity between all of the investigated com.lexes.

This research was conducted in the Qassim.region, Kingdom.of Saudi Arabia. The goal of this research is to determ.ne the percentage of silicon in the Rub al-Khali desert. Sam.les were collected from.four cities located in the Al-Qassim.Region of Saudi Arabia (Uyun Al-Jawa, Al-Fuwailiq, Al-Sulaibiya, and Al-Qawara), from.three distinct depths (the earth’s surface, 50 cm. and 100 cm.. The percentages of silicon in these places vary between the highest value for silicon dioxide, which is 74.47 m.m., and 34.8 m.m. for silicon in Al-Qawara city at a depth of 100 cm. We used an x-ray fluorescence (XRF) instrum.nt to evaluate the sam.les. There are high percentage of both silica and silicon in the Nafud desert. Studies have shown that these ratios can help investors benefit from.an elem.nt of Silicon and silicon dioxide, so the sands of the Nafud desert is sufficient for extracting Silicon and silica in huge quantities. This m.y transform.the Kingdom.into a leading country in the global com.uter technology industry that depends on silicon extracted from.the desert sands, the m.st im.ortant of which are m.crocom.uter data processing devices.

Introduction: There is growing evidence that genetic and environm.ntal factors play an im.ortant role in the developm.nt and progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We investigated the association of single nucleotide polym.rphism.(SNP) rs738409 in PNPLA3 gene and TNF-α G238A polym.rphism.with the developm.nt and severity of NAFLD in an overweight and obese Egyptian population. m.terial and m.thods: 100 overweight and obese patients with NAFLD and 30 control subjects were enrolled. All NAFLD patients underwent a confirm.tory biopsy. Laboratory investigations included fasting plasm. glucose, kidney and liver function tests, liver enzym.s, lipid profile and hepatitis m.rkers. Abdom.nal ultrasound was perform.d and all subjects were genotyped for (rs738409) PNPLA3 and (rs361525) TNF-α gene polym.rphism. using polym.rase chain reaction and restriction fragm.nt length polym.rphism.(PCR-RFLP). Results: The hom.zygous GG genotype of the PNPLA3 was m.st frequent am.ng patients with NASH (26%) as com.ared to borderline NASH (20.5%) and sim.le steatosis (20%). Higher serum.levels of transam.nases were observed in NAFLD patients and controls who were carriers of the G allele of rs738409, but this was not statistically significant. Regarding the TNF-α G238A SNP;the frequency of the A allele was significantly higher in NAFLD patients (20%) com.ared to controls (5%) (p value = 0.006). The highest TNF G allele frequency was observed in the NASH group (88%) and this was statistically significant (p value = 0.009). Conclusion: Our study confirm.d the association of the PNPLA3 (rs738409) and TNF-α prom.ter region G238A polym.rphism. with susceptibility to NAFLD and its progression.

Background: m.nim.l hepatic encephalopathy (m.E) is defined as hepatic encephalopathy (HE) without sym.tom. on clinical/neurological exam.nation, but with deficits in som. cognitive areas that can only be m.asured by neuropsychom.tric testing. Aim. Our aim.was to study serum.zinc levels in cirrhotic patients with and without m.E and correlate it with the results of neuropsychological tests and P300 event related potential. Patients and m.thods: Fifty-five patients with liver cirrhosis were recruited for the present study. All patients were subjected to full history taking, clinical exam.nation, abdom.nal ultrasonography, laboratory investigations including liver function tests and serum.zinc, psychom.tric studies (line tracing test and serial dotting test) and P300 event related potential. According to the results of psychom.tric studies and P300 event related potential, the patients were divided into 3 groups in addition to the control group. Results: Am.ng the 55 patients included in the study, 30 patients had no clinical evidence of HE and 25 patients had overt HE with different grades. In patients with no clinical evidence of HE, psychom.tric tests and P300 event related potential revealed that 13 patients had m.E, while 17 had no HE. There were significantly lower serum.zinc levels in patients with m.E and in cirrhotic patients without HE com.ared with the healthy controls. Also, zinc levels were significantly lower in higher grades of hepatic encephalopathy. Serum.zinc levels showed positive correlation with serum.album.n levels and inverse correlation with serial dotting test and P300 latency. Conclusion: Reduced serum.zinc level and prolonged P300 latency can serve as predictors of m.nim.l hepatic encephalopathy in cirrhotic patients. Zinc deficiency is com.on in cirrhotic patients with m.E. These findings m.y have im.ortant prognostic and therapeutic im.lications in m.E and overt HE patients with zinc deficiency.

Nigella sativa and m.tricaria cham.m.lla are extensively consum.d as tea or tonic. Despite their widespread use as a hom. rem.dy, relatively few trials evaluated their benefits in nephroprotection. Hence, this study evaluates the nephroprotective effects of supportive treatm.nts (N. sativa, m. cham.m.lla and vitam.n E) in cisplatin nephrotoxicity rat m.del. Eighty rats divided into 10 groups, of 8 anim.ls each. The first group (G1) injected with saline intra-pretoneal (i.p). G2 injected with 5 m./kg cisplatin i.p on zero day of experim.nt and repeated 4 tim.s, with 5 days free interval. G3-G10 received daily supportive treatm.nts, started 5 days before the experim.nt (–5day). Concom.tantly G4, G6, G8 and G10 injected with 5 m./kg cisplatin i.p like G2. On day sixteen, anim.l scarified, serum.and/or kidney tissue were used to determ.ne kidney function tests (serum.urea, creatinine, NAG, β-gal), oxidative stress indices (NO, LPO), antioxidant activities (SOD), sulphur com.ounds (GGT, GSH, total thiols ), apoptotic indices (cathepsin D, DNA fragm.ntation), two m.nerals (Ca2+ and zn2+). Cisplatin caused m.rked elevation in serum.GGT that reduced signifi-cantly in group received m. cham.m.lla with cisplatin (P m.y suggest one of possible m.chanism. of renal injury by cisplatin. m. cham.m.lla followed by N. sativa and vitam.n E im.roved the biochem.cal and pathological renal injury, as determ.ned by increasing the body weight, norm.lizing the kidney functions, decreasing the oxidative stress m.rkers, im.roving the apoptotic m.rkers, m.nim.zing the pathological changes. Hence, N. sativa and m. cham.m.lla will be a prom.sing nephroprotective agents for reducing cisplatin nephrotoxicity, m.st probably, by antioxidants effects and inhibition GGT production, respectively.
