The study of rogue waves is becoming increasingly important,as the offshore oil and gas,as well as renewable energy industries,*** unpredictability of such disastrous waves poses a significant risk to floating and fixed structures,making it necessary to develop methods capable of recreating rogue waves for model testing *** this paper,an investigation into the useability of the NewWave theory,a theoretical formula for producing focused waves,was conducted in model test facilities with a *** numerical modelling of rogue waves was performed using MATLAB codes developed to create several types of wave *** success of the numerical generation of design rogue waves was dependent on the number of wave components used during construction such that a suitable rogue wave(H max/H s>2.0)could be created using 400 or more *** was found that the NewWave technique could construct and physically generate design rogue waves within a close range of the predicted height provided the main wavemaker stroke was smooth enough(at around 0.8 s trough-crest for the tested model scale).The measured rogue waves were found to be complex;highly non-linear in amplitude with the behaviour of up to the 3rd ***,it was observed that rogue waves,created based on a 100-year sea state,were very similar to the New Year Wave confirming that such extreme waves,approximately 25-27 m high at full scale,can indeed occur in severe sea states.

In recent years,extreme wave events have occurred more frequently than have been predicted using theoretical *** is,therefore,a requirement to investigate the impact of these events on coastal and offshore *** paper reports on results of an experimental investigation into the interaction between unidirectional waves and a horizontally moored semisubmersible *** target crest height was created at a focal point and time using the focused wave *** values of wave steepness were tested in order to ascertain the nonlinear effects on the quality of waves generated by a piston-type *** measured crest height was in good agreement with the theoretical one within 4%relative *** magnitudes of heave and pitch motions of the model were found to increase as the wave steepness ***,the paper contributes towards establishing the application of focused wave technique to floating offshore platforms.

Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)investigations into water entry problems of a rigid flat plate with air pockets were systematically *** Volume of Fluid(VOF)model was utilised to capture localised slamming phenomena that occur during,and post-impact *** model’s geometry was modified to include a pocket on the slamming impact surface to investigate the effect of air entrapment on the magnitude and distribution of slamming forces and pressures.A parametric study was conducted on the geometric parameters of the modelled pocket by altering its area,depth,and volume to exam-ine the response of slamming force and pressure loading under several impact *** numerical results of slamming forces and pressures were in good agreement with experimental drop test measure-ments(with relative error of-6%and 7%for the magnitude of slamming force and pressure,respectively).The numerical results proved that the peak pressure is proportional to the magnitude of impact velocity squared(p maxαv^(2)).

A novel rapid and continuous process has developed for the synthesis of nitrogen-doped TiO2（N-TiO2）with flame spray pyrolysis（FSP） method. The nitrogen incorporation into TiO2 was achieved by a facile modification（addition of dilute nitric acid） in the precursor for the synthesis. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The doping of nitrogen into the TiO2 was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and energy dispersive X-ray（EDX） spectroscopy. The UV-vis spectra of the modified catalysts（with primary N source） exhibited band-gap narrowing for 4 N-TiO2 with band gap energy of 2.89 eV, which may be due to the presence of nitrogen in TiO2 structure. The introduction of secondary N-source（urea） into TiO2 crystal lattice results in additional reduction of the band gap energy to 2.68 eV and shows a significant improvement of visible light absorption. The N-TiO2 nanoparticles modified by using secondary N-source showed significant photocatalytic activity under visible light much higher than TiO2. The higher activity is attributed to the synergetic interaction of nitrogen with the TiO2 lattice. The lowering of the band-gap energy for the flame made N-doped TiO2 materials implies that the nitrogen doping in TiO2 by aerosol method is highly effective in extending the optical response of TiO2 in the visible region. The nitrogen atomic percentage has increased monotonically（0.09%-0.15%）with the increase in primary nitrogen source（nitric acid）, and significantly boosted to 0.97% when secondary nitrogen source（urea） was introduced. The highest rate of phenol degradation was obtained for catalysts with secondary N source due to increase in N content in the catalyst.

Objective:Oral squamous-cell carcinoma(OSCC)accounts for >90% of oral cancers affecting adults mostly between the fourth to seventh decades of *** most common OSCC treatment is concomitant chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)having both locoregional and distant control,but CCRT has acute and chronic toxic effects on adjacent normal *** study aimed to determine the side effects of CCRT on the oral mucosa and to characterize the clinicopathology of oral lesions in patients with ***:This descriptive,cross-sectional study was certified by the Ethical Review Committee(UHS/Education/126-12/2728)of the University of Health Sciences,Lahore,*** patients(n=81)with various histological subtypes,grades,and stages were recruited,and findings on their oral examination were *** patients received 70,90,and 119 Gy of radiotherapy dosages in combination with the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin and *** were analyzed using SPSS ***:The most common presentation of OSCC was a nonhealing ulcer(63%) involving tongue(55.6%).Clinical findings included mucositis(92.6%)and xerostomia of mild,moderate,and severe degrees in 11.1%,46.9%,and 35.8% cases,***(87.7%),palpable lymph nodes(64.2%),limited mouth opening(64.2%)and fistula(40.7%) were also *** females,the association of radiotherapy dosage with limited mouth opening,xerostomia,and histological grading was statistically significant(P<0.05).The association of chemotherapy drugs with xerostomia(P=0.003)was also statistically ***:CCRT induced mucositis,xerostomia,and trismus in patients with OSCC.

AIM： To evaluate roles of syndecan-1, bcl6 and p53 in diagnosis and prognostication of immunoproliferative small intestinal disease （IPSID） and to study profiles of kappa （κ） and lambda （λ） light chains and IgA heavy chain. METHODS： The study consisted of 11 cases of IPSID and similar number of controls which included 11 of normal intestinal mucosa and 11 of high grade B cell lymphoma of ileum. The parameters analyzed included clinical profiles, biochemical and other laboratory investigations, radiologic and histological findings including immunohistochemistry. RESULTS： All IPSID cases had demonstrable serum IgA heavy chain and heavy mucosal plasma cell infiltration. According to Galian＇s histological staging, there were 4 patients with stage A and 7 with stage B. κ and ;λ light chains were over-expressed in 7 patients; 1 stage A patient had H pylori-positive active gastritis and eradication of H pylori led to disease remission. Stage A biopsies had higher expression for syndecan-1, while stage B had higher expression for bcl6 and p53. Syndecan-1,κ and λ light chains and IgA heavy chain showed inverse relationship with bcl6 and p53. All patients were treated with doxycycline. CHOP regime was added in 5 patients who developed frank lymphoma. Three died of the disease due to extensive organ infiltration. CONCLUSION： Certain immunomarkers like syndecan-1,κ and λ light chains and IgA heavy chain could be of much help in identifying early stage IPSID. Stage B IPSID showed higher expression for bcl6 and p53 than stage A IPSID. bcl6 and p53 expressions correlated with a more advanced disease stage and aggressive tumour behavior.
