Petrography, carbon and oxygen isotopic study was carried out to interpret isotopic variations on the predominant carbonate sequence of the Dalmiapuram Formation of the Cauvery Basin, South India. The common petrographic types identified in the Dalmiapuram Formation range from wackestone to boundstone. The gray shale and limestone members show large variations in d13 C and d18 O values(Gray shale member: +1.44 to +2.40 %VPDB,-3.05 to-5.92 % VPDB, respectively; Limestone member:-6.07 to +2.93 % VPDB;-7.08 to-0.39 %VPDB; respectively). In the present study, the carbon and oxygen values are not correlated, which supports the fact that these limestones retain their primary isotopic signatures. In carbon isotope curve, one negative shift is identified in the gray shale member and a positive isotopic excursion is detected in the coral algal limestone(CAL).The observed positive isotopic excursion in the lower part of the CAL correlates with OAE1 d and suggests the global nature of the late Albian OAE1 d in the Cauvery Basin.

Anticancer activity of Mahonia leschenaultii methanolic root extract and berberine on Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma in mice

Objective: To evaluate the effects of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine of Mahonia leschenaultii on Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma in Swiss Albino mice. Methods: The methanol root extracts of Mahonia leschenaultii(200 and 400 mg/kg) were given orally, and berberines(10 and 20 mg/kg) were injected intra-peritoneally for 14 successive days in tumor bearing mice. Hematological parameters(white and red blood cells, haemoglobin level, granulocytes, and agranulocytes), lipid parameters(total cholesterol and triglycerides), serum enzymes(serum glutamate pyruvate transaminases, serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminases, and alkaline phosphatise) and mean survival and solid tumor growth were determined and compared with untreated mice. 5-fluorouracil(20 mg/kg) was used as a reference standard drug. Results: Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine reduced the hematocrit significantly. Furthermore, Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine improved the survival of mice significantly and restored the affected hematological and lipid parameters similar to the normal levels. Conclusions: These observations show a strong anticancer effect of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine in suppressing Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma cancer cell growth in a mouse model by controlling haematological, lipid, serum enzymes, and other derived parameters effectively.

Evaluation of hydrogeochemical characteristics and the impact of weathering in seepage water collected within the sedimentary formation

A study was conducted by collecting eight seepage water samples that drain through the sedimentary rocks, mainly sandstone and shale, to evaluate the hydro- geochemical characteristics. The collected samples were analyzed for physico-chemical parameters using standard procedures. Three water types were identified in the Piper plot and the hydrogeochemical evolution starts from a Ca- C1 facies （type 1） via mixed Ca-Mg-C1 and Ca-Na-HCO3 facies （type 2） to Na-C1 facies （type 3）. Increasing trend of electrical conductivity （EC） values were observed from type 1 water to type 3 water. Lower ionic concentrations with an average EC value of 35.7 kts/cm in Ca-C1 facies indicate the recharge water by monsoonal rainfall, and ion exchange/weathering process is reflected in the mixing zone. Higher ionic concentration with an average EC value of 399 kts/cm is noted in Na-C1 facies, which indicates the ion exchange during water-rock interaction. Higher log pCO2 values are also found in this facies, revealing the longer residence time of seepage water in the rock matrix, which release more ions into the water. The relative mobility of elements during weathering suggest that the order of mobility in both sandstone and shale is Na 〉 Ca 〉 Mg 〉 K. It was observed that thehydrogeochemistry of seepage water is mainly controlled by the bedrock geology.

It is essential to characterize fluid flow in porous media to have a better understanding of petrophysical *** approaches were developed to determine reservoir permeability among which the integrated analysis of hydraulic flow unit(HFU)and electrofacies(EF)is considered to be useful ***,the application of HFU and EF analysis has not been totally understood with a limited data to develop correlation for less distance offset *** this study,an attempt was made to show the application of integrating HFU and EF for reliable estimation of permeability using core and wireline log data in one of the gas fields in *** results obtained indicate that the integrated approach proposed in this study can be used,especially in less distance offset wells when a limited number of data are available for petrophysical characterization.

Simultaneous pharmacokinetic assessment of cefadroxil and clavulanic acid in human plasma by LC-MS and its application to bioequivalence studies

A simple, rapid and selective liquid chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-mass spectrometry （LC-APCI-MS） assay method has been developed and fully validated for the simultaneous quantification of cefadroxil （CF） and clavulanic acid （CA） in human plasma. Analytes and internal standard （IS） were extracted from human plasma by solid- phase extraction （SPE） technique using Sam prep （3 mL, 100 mg） extraction cartridge. The extracted samples were chromatographed on a reverse phase Cls column using a mixture of methanol： acetonitrile： 2 mM ammonium acetate （pH 3.5）（25：25：50, v/v/v） as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. Quantification of the analytes and IS were carried out using single quadrupole LC-APCI-MS through selected-ion monitoring （SIM） at m/z 362 and m/z 198, for CF and CA, respectively. Method validation was performed as per the FDA guidelines and the results met the acceptance criteria. Plasma concentration of CF and CA followed by the oral administration of CF/CA （500/125 mg） pill to healthy male volunteers （n= 12） was measured. Area under plasma concentration-time curve from 0 to 12 h （AUC0-12 h） and 0 h extrapolated to infinity （AUC0-∞） were calculated. The ratio of AUC0-12 h/AUC0-∞ was found to be 〉 85% for all the subjects, as recommended by the FDA guidelines.

In the digital area,Internet of Things(IoT)and connected objects generate a huge quantity of data traffic which feeds big data analytic models to discover hidden patterns and detect abnormal *** IoT networks are popular and widely employed in real world applications,security in IoT networks remains a challenging *** intrusion detection systems(IDS)cannot be employed in IoT networks owing to the limitations in resources and ***,this paper concentrates on the design of intelligent metaheuristic optimization based feature selection with deep learning(IMFSDL)based classification model,called IMFSDL-IDS for IoT *** proposed IMFSDL-IDS model involves data collection as the primary process utilizing the IoT devices and is preprocessed in two stages:data transformation and data *** manage big data,Hadoop ecosystem is ***,the IMFSDL-IDS model includes a hill climbing with moth flame optimization(HCMFO)for feature subset selection to reduce the complexity and increase the overall detection ***,the beetle antenna search(BAS)with variational autoencoder(VAE),called BAS-VAE technique is applied for the detection of intrusions in the feature reduced *** BAS algorithm is integrated into the VAE to properly tune the parameters involved in it and thereby raises the classification *** validate the intrusion detection performance of the IMFSDL-IDS system,a set of experimentations were carried out on the standard IDS dataset and the results are investigated under distinct *** resultant experimental values pointed out the betterment of the IMFSDL-IDS model over the compared models with the maximum accuracy 95.25%and 97.39%on the applied NSL-KDD and UNSW-NB15 dataset correspondingly.
