Context: One of the treatment strategies for atopic diseases is to skew immune response away from Th2 dominance by using Mycobacterial strains. Objective: We wanted to find out whether M. vaccae administration to pregnant mice had any preventive effect on the offsprings in the development of a murine asthma model. Materials and Methods: Pregnant BALB/c mice were divided into two groups;first group received heat-killed M. vaccae subcutaneously on 12th day of pregnancy and the latter group received PBS. After delivery, newborn mice of each group were further divided into two subgroups as M. vaccae/Ovalbumin (OVA), M. vaccae/control, PBS/OVA and PBS/ control. To establish experimental murine asthma model, mice were intraperitoneally sensitized and challenged intratracheally with Ovalbumin. We analysed airway histopathology, bone marrow eosinophil progenitors and splenic cell cytokine profiles of the offsprings. Results: Comparison of offsprings in M. vaccae/OVA group were not different than PBS controls with respect to thicknesses of airway epithelium, basement membrane, subepithelial smooth muscles and number of hyperplasic goblet cells as well as bronchial associated lymphoid tissue density and eosinophil progenitors in the bone marrow. Comparison of M. vaccae/OVA group to asthma model revealed significant differences and lower levels of OVA-induced IL-5. Conclusions: We propose that immunization of pregnant BALB/c with M. vaccae could prevent histopathological alterations in the airways related to the asthma model and down-regulates IL-5 secretion from splenocytes of offsprings.

水稻(Oryza sativa L.)生长发育与其体内的激素调节密切相关,本研究从水稻野生型黎榆B(*** *** *** B)基因组中克隆了一个与激素调节相关的新基因OsJT1。生物信息学分析表明:水稻OsJT1基因cDNA全长650 bp、编码216个氨基酸;OsJT1蛋白的理论分子量为22.99 kD,等电点为7.68,是亲水性的稳定蛋白;OsJT1蛋白的二级结构中,9个α-螺旋,16个无规则卷曲,10个B折叠,5个β转角。本研究构建了融合表达载体(p Ca MV35S::OsJT1:EGFP),通过农杆菌介导法获得OsJT1过表达株系,性状分析表明:过表达株系的株高和结实率下降、叶宽增加,且结实率和叶片宽度与野生型差异均达到显著水平(p<0.05)。根据生物信息学及过表达转基因植株的表型分析内容,初步推断该基因可能与激素调节相关。

LysM结构域包含蛋白(lysM domain containing protein)为植物中公认的病原菌信号受体蛋白。本研究在水稻雌性不育基因FST遗传调控网中筛选获得一个关键靶基因,暂命名为OsEMSA1,该基因编码包含一个LysM结构域的未知功能蛋白质。蛋白质序列分析表明,OsEMSA1蛋白N端包含一个信号肽序列,具备跨膜结构,LysM结构域位于蛋白C端,为胞外结构。启动子顺式作用元件分析表明,光响应元件、激素应答元件、生长调节元件在OsEMSA1启动子区有很高的分布。电子表达谱分析表明,OsEMSA1基因在野生型水稻日本晴多组织中均有不同程度的表达,而根中和开花前的胚囊中表达量相对较高,可能参与调控水稻根和雌配子发育,同时逆境胁迫、激素信号以及病菌侵害也能不同程度的诱导OsEMSA1基因的表达。基因共表达分析显示,OsEMSA1基因与激素信号传导响应、逆境胁迫应答以及抵御真菌病害的基因存在互作。本研究成功构建了由OsEMSA1基因自身启动子驱动的过表达转基因水稻株系,为进一步分析OsEMSA1基因功能奠定了实验基础,并为发掘LysM结构域包含蛋白的潜在功能提供了一定的理论依据。

Determination of Pesticides Residues in Some Fruits and Vegetables Imported to Iraq

A study was carried out in the laboratories of the National Center for Pesticides Control/State Board for Plant Protection / Ministry of Agriculture in 2010-2011. The aim was to determine the residues of some pesticides in fruits and vegetables imported to Iraq from neighboring countries （Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran）. Two types of fruits （apples and oranges） and two types of vegetables （tomatoes and cucumber） were selected for the purpose of this study. These fruits and vegetables are the most agricultural products imported for human consumption in Iraq. Samples were taken from different border points and from local markets. Extraction, clean up and analysis were then processed. The results indicated the presence of small amounts of residues of certain pesticides such as Deltamethrin and Abamectin and Thiamethoxam in some samples. However, these amounts were less than the limit allowed internationally. No indication was observed for the presence of other pesticides residues such as Bifenthrin Trticonazol and Imidacloprid ... etc. in the samples analyzed. Therefore, there is a need to continuity of inspection on pesticides residues in agricultural products imported to Iraq in order to prevent the entry of contaminating materials and secure human safety.

Effect of Sn Doping on the Properties of ZnO Thin Films Prepared by Spray Pyrolysis

Layers of transparent and conductive Sn-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) have been prepared using chemical reactive liquid phase (spray) method on glass substrates. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the obtained layers show preferential grains orientation along the direction (002). Microstructural analysis indicates that the thickness of the deposited films is independent of Sn content, i.e. 408 nm, and that the average grain size increases with increasing Sn content, ranging from 31 nm to 42 nm. The value of the optical gap obtained using UV-visible transmission spectroscopy method increases slightly from 3.1 eV to 3.3 eV. Moreover, transmission curves reveal that the prepared thin films are transparent in the visible domain.

AIM To determine the prevalence of colorectal neoplasia in average risk persons 40-59 years of age in Israel and to compare the results with other populations. METHODS We reviewed the results of asymptomatic average-risk subjects, aged 40 to 59 years, undergoing their first screening colonoscopy between April 1994 and January 2014. The detection rates of adenoma, advanced adenoma(AA) and colorectal cancer(CRC) were determined in the 40's and 50's age groups by gender. The prevalence of lesions was compared between age groups. After meticulous review of the literature, these results were compared to published studies addressing the prevalence of colorectal neoplasia in similar patient groups, in a variety of geographical *** We included first screening colonoscopy results of 1750 individuals. The prevalence of adenomas, AA and CRC was 8.3%, 1.0% and 0.2% in the 40-49 age group and 13.7%, 2.4% and 0.2% in the 50-59 age group, respectively. Age-dependent differences in adenoma and AA rates were significant only among men(p < 0.005). Literature review disclosed 17 relevant studies. As expected, in both Asian and Western populations, the risks for overall adenoma and advanced adenoma was significantly higher in the 50's age group as compared to the 40's age group in a similar fashion. The result of the current study were similar to previous studies on Western populations. A substantially higher rate of adenoma, was observed in studies conducted among Asian populations in both age *** The higher rate of colorectal neoplasia in Asian populations requires further investigation and reconsideration as to the starting age of screening in that population.

目的：评估静脉注射甲基强的松龙（IVMP）对外伤性视神经病变患者的疗效。方法：回顾性分析2000-01至2007-06我院收治的16例外伤性视神经病变（TON）患者的临床资料。1g甲基强的松龙分3d静脉应用，然后口服泼尼松龙11d，并逐渐减量。记录从损伤开始到治疗开始的时间。视力变化是本研究结果的主要功能评价指标。在入院时，治疗后1，2，3d；1wk和1mo时，分别记录最佳矫正视力（BCVA）。结果：共有16例患者纳入本研究，平均年龄为30岁，其中男性14例、女性2例。引起TON的主要原因有摩托车事故（占69％），打架斗殴（占19％）和体育运动（占12％）。所有患者都表现有相对传入性瞳孔障碍。在损伤后4d内开始静脉注射甲基强的松龙，采用Snellen视力表检查视力，绝大部分（56％）患者视力提高超过3行或大于等于0．5（6／12）。在损伤后5d以上才开始用类固醇治疗，视力则没有任何进步。结论：治疗TON，静脉注射中等到大剂量甲基强的松龙仍将起到重要作用。静脉注射甲基强的松龙治疗TON可能存在伤后4d的关键时期，超过了这个时期，该治疗可能就毫无效果。但还需要有更多的研究来为我们提供有明显统计学意义的数据。

Recombination of Ar^(14+), Ar^(15+), Ca^(16+), and Ni^(19+) ions with electrons has been investigated at low energy range based on the merged-beam method at the main cooler storage ring CSRm in the Institute of Modern Physics, Lanzhou,China. For each ion, the absolute recombination rate coefficients have been measured with electron–ion collision energies from 0 meV to 1000 meV which include the radiative recombination(RR) and also dielectronic recombination(DR)processes. In order to interpret the measured results, RR cross sections were obtained from a modified version of the semiclassical Bethe and Salpeter formula for hydrogenic ions. DR cross sections were calculated by a relativistic configuration interaction method using the flexible atomic code(FAC) and AUTOSTRUCTURE code in this energy range. The calculated RR + DR rate coefficients show a good agreement with the measured value at the collision energy above 100 ***, large discrepancies have been found at low energy range especially below 10 meV, and the experimental results show a strong enhancement relative to the theoretical RR rate coefficients. For the electron–ion collision energy below 1 meV, it was found that the experimentally observed recombination rates are higher than the theoretically predicted and fitted rates by a factor of 1.5 to 3.9. The strong dependence of RR rate coefficient enhancement on the charge state of the ions has been found with the scaling rule of q^(3.0), reproducing the low-energy recombination enhancement effects found in other previous experiments.
