Duplication of the inferior vena cava(IVC) involves large veins on both sides of the aorta that join anteriorly at the level of the renal arteries to become the suprarenal *** report CT scan and intraoperative images of a patient with duplication of the IVC who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy with para-aortic lymphadenectomy for carcinoma of the pancreatic head:nodal dissection along the left caval vein was not carried *** anatomical background of the lymphatic flow to the para-aortic lymph nodes and the theoretic basis for lymph node dissection of the para-aortic area in cases of double IVC are *** along the left caval vein is not necessary in patients with double IVC who undergo pancreaticoduodenectomy with extended lymphadenectomy for carcinoma of the pancreatic head in the absence of preoperative appearance of para-aortic disease.

Objective: To assess knowledge and behaviour related to toxoplasmosis which remains a neglected disease in ***: Observational investigations were conducted among 600 pregnant women from Essaouira *** interview items covered respondents' knowledge of the disease, its preventive practices and risk ***: A total of 22/600 women had already carried out the anti-toxoplasmosis test, while, 96% have never done any screening of anti-Toxoplasma *** 16/600 women have good information about the disease, its mode of transmission and its complications in both the fetus and his *** most women adopt a healthy diet, the consumption of raw or undercooked meat is far to be considered as a risk factor, along with other potential factors that may foster the acquisition of the disease, such as possessing a domestic cat, educational status and knowledge of the ***, in this study, contact with soil was revealed the most important risk factor(P = 0.045), followed by the hygiene conditions after handling raw meat(P = 0.048).Conclusion: The underestimation of the Toxoplasma gondii sero-prevalence in Essaouira Province can be explained by the absence of toxoplasmosis serology in health institutions, as well as the gap of knowledge about the disease by local population.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and effectiveness of albendazole and mebendazole in the treatment of Ascaris lumbricoides(***) in the North-Western ***: 229 primary school children who were positive for *** in their stool were recruited in the study.123 children received single-dose of 400 mg albendazole and 106 children received single-dose 500 mg of *** 1 week,their stools were examined for the cure rate (CR) and egg reduction rate(ERR).Egg culture was also performed and observation was made on week-1,-3,-***:have shown a non-significant difference in CR 96.7%vs.100%:and ERR of 99.3%vs.100.0%for albendazole and mebendazole groups respectively(P>0.05).In-vitro egg culture has shown trends of decrease in the percentage of the unfertilized eggs and in≥2 cell eggs in both treatment groups(P<0.05).The embryonated eggs from the albendazole groups has shown an increase from 7.3%on week-1 to 13.8%on week-4,whilst the mebendazole group has shown a constant increase during the whole 4 weeks of culture from 7.5%to 28.3%(P<0.01). Conclusions:No evidence of drug resistance is noted so far from the area of North-Western part of *** addition,although both drugs showed incomplete ovicidal effects,single-dose albendazole is better than mebendazole in sterilizing *** eggs.

Background In this research the symptom improvement of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) of children was assessed by oral vitamin D administration in Tabriz,*** In this double-blind,randomized clinical trials,96 children (2-18 years) were enrolled to placebo and vitamin D *** took vitamin D pearl (50,000 IU/week) or placebo for 6 ***,who had the change in methylphenidate dosage and received any anticonvulsants and corticosteroids were excluded from the *** symptoms were diagnosed by Conners parent rating scale (CPRS) test at baseline and after *** Conners divided into inattention (IA),hyperactivity/impulsivity (H/I) and combination type (C) *** D serum level was assessed at baseline and after 8 weeks in both *** The differences between CPRS and its subscales were not significant at baseline (P > 0.05).The Conners IA score was decreased in vitamin D group (P < 0.05;adjusted with age and baseline values).ADHD Conners and all subscale scores reduced remarkably after intervention in patients with insufficient level of vitamin D compared to placebo (P < 0.05).Conclusions Oral vitamin D improved ADHD symptoms with a particular effect on inattention *** addition,symptoms related to all subscales were improved remarkably in patients with insufficient level of vitamin *** D treatment in children with ADHD could be considered due to the expand benefit of vitamin D in body.

Variance is one of the most vital measures of dispersion widely employed in practical aspects.A commonly used approach for variance estimation is the traditional method of moments that is strongly influenced by the presence of extreme values,and thus its results cannot be relied *** momentum from Koyuncu’s recent work,the present paper focuses first on proposing two classes of variance estimators based on linear moments(L-moments),and then employing them with auxiliary data under double stratified sampling to introduce a new class of calibration variance estimators using important properties of L-moments(L-location,L-cv,L-variance).Three populations are taken into account to assess the efficiency of the new *** first and second populations are concerned with artificial data,and the third populations is concerned with real *** percentage relative efficiency of the proposed estimators over existing ones is *** the presence of extreme values,our findings depict the superiority and high efficiency of the proposed classes over traditional ***,when auxiliary data is available along with extreme values,the proposed classes of estimators may be implemented in an extensive variety of sampling surveys.

OBJECTIVE:To examine the efficacy of Silene arenosa extract on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) of krait (Bungarus Sindanus) snake ***:The present project designed to evaluate the inhibition of AChE by following standard ***:Statistical analysis of the results showed that Silene arenosa exerted 73%inhibition against the krait venom acetylcholinesterase at fixed substrate acetylcholine (ACh) concentration (0.5 mM).Kinetic analysis using the Lineweaver Burk plot revealed that Silene arenosa caused a competitive type of inhibition i.e.K_(m) values increased from 26.6 to 93.3 mM (26.6%to 93.3%) and V_(max)remained constant in a concentration-dependent *** arenosa competes with the substrate to bind at the active site of the *** K_(mapp)of venom AChE for Silene arenosa increased from 60%to 81.6%and the V_(maxapp)remains constant.K_(i)(inhibition constant was estimated to be 48μg for snake venom);while the K_(m)(Michaelis-Menten constant of AChE-substrate into AChE and product) was estimated to be 0.5 *** IC_(50)of AchE calculated for Silene arenosa was 67μ***:The present results suggest that Silene arenosa extract can be considered as an inhibitor of snake venom AChE.

Chemical composition of Mentha suaveolens and Pinus halepensis essential oils and their antibacterial and antioxidant activities

Objective: To determin the chemical compounds of Mentha suaveolens(M. suaveolens) and Pinus halepensis(P. halepensis) essential oils(Eos) and evaluate their antioxidant and antibacterial activities. Methods: The chemical composition of P. halepensis and M. suaveolens EOs was determined by GC-MS analysis. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH,ABTS and FRAP assays. The antibacterial effect was tested against 6 bacterial strains using the well diffusion method and micro-dilution assay. Results: The major components of P. halepensis EOs were β-caryophyllene(28.04%),myrcene(23.81%) and α-pinene(12.02%). However,piperitenone oxid(56.28%),piperitenone(11.64%) and pulegone(6.16%) were the major components of M. suaveolens EOs. M. suaveolens EOs showed remarkable antioxidant activities compared with P. halepensis EOs,showing antioxidant capacity values of IC50=(64.76±2.24) μg/mL,IC50=(82.73±3.34) μg/mL,and IC50=(93.35±4.45) μg/mL,revealed by DPPH,ABTS and FRAP assays,respectively. However,P. halepensis EOs showed interesting antibacterial effects against all bacterial strains. The most sensible strains to P. halepensis EOs were Staphylococcus aureus [(34.00±0.50) mm],Listeria monocytogenes [(31.00±1.50)] mm and Proteus mirabilis [(29.00±2.25)mm]. Furthermore,the lowest minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration(MBC) values were revealed by P. halepensis EOs against Staphylococcus aureus [MIC=MBC=0.125%(v/v)] and Listeria monocytogenes [MIC=MBC=0.25%(v/v)]. Conclusions: P. halepensis and M. suaveolens EOs contain bioactive compounds that could have potential applications against bacterial infections and oxidative stress related diseases as well as for food conservation. However,further investigations are necessary to isolate and investigate the action mechanisms of these bioactive compounds.

Objective:To study characteristics of phospholipases C(PLCs),their importance for producing microorganisms us well us the potential of their use for industrial ***:PLC from Bacillus cereus(***) D101 was selected as an example of Gram-positive PLCs and PLC from Pseudomanas aeruginosa(***) D183 of Gram-negative *** were partially purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by membrane *** purified preparations were used to study effect of different factors on activities as well as in substrate specificity tests which were conducted using a turbidimetric assay ***:Maximum activity was at pH 7 and 8 and 40 ℃ for *** PLC,and pH 8-10 and 37 ℃ for *** *** PLCs were inhibited by Pi at 5 mM or higher,whereas,PLC from *** only was inhibited by *** of *** PLC was not affected by removing Zn^(2+) ions from reaction mixture or their replacement with Ca^(2+),Ba^(2+),Mg^(2+) or Mn^(2+)***-a-vis,activity of *** PLC was found to be metal ion dependent PLCs from both isolates were relatively thermostable and showed maximum affinity toward *** and phosphatidylethanolamine were not good substrates and phosphatidylinositol,phosphatidylserine,phosphatidylglycerol and cardiolipin could be considered ***:Human body physiological conditions could favor activity of *** and *** *** enzymes may participate in phosphate scavenging and virulence of producing isolates but not in *** from both isolates are potential candidates for industrial use.
