Towards defining soil quality of Mediterranean calcareous agricultural soils:Reference values and potential core indicator set

To avoid soil degradation,adapt to climate change and comply with the Sustainable Development goals 2030(un General Assembly),establishing the quality/fertility of the agricultural soils of the Mediterranean region and evaluate how these evolve with time is *** enables adequate management practices to be *** Mediterranean calcareous region has received little attention in this sense,in spite its soil ***,24 different representative calcareous agricultural soils of the Mediterranean region,including the main management strategies of agricultural soils(rainfed and irrigated),were sampled from the island of Mallorca;and their physical,chemical and biological properties *** values obtained for most of the soil characteristics allowed to establish an initial approach to the reference values for the type of calcareous agricultural soils considered,and to clearly distinguish the effect of rainfed or irrigation management practices on soils properties and *** enzyme activities were not stimulated by the irrigation conditions assayed or they were only in dry conditions,suggesting optimum enzyme activities could be obtained when alternating dry and humid soil *** organic carbon,calcium carbonate and active lime revealed of significant importance in the collection of ***,the results obtained clearly indicate the heterogeneity of the region and its implications on the different soil ***,this study could serve as a starting point to adequately establish the quality(fertility)for Mediterranean calcareous agricultural soils and their reference values by conducting further research in this region and including more type of soils.

Radiative capture of proton through the ^(14)n(p,γ)^(15)O reaction at low energy

The CnO cycle is the main source of energy in stars more massive than our *** process defines the energy production,the duration of which can be used to determine the lifetime of massive *** cycle is an important tool for determining the age of globular *** proton capture via p+^(14)n→^(15)O+γ,at energies of astrophysical interest,is an important process in the CnO *** this project,we apply a potential model to describe both non-resonant and resonant reactions in the channels where radiative capture occurs through electric E1 *** employed the R-matrix method to describe the ongoing reactions via M1 resonant transitions,when it was not possible to correctly reproduce the experimental data using the potential *** partial components of the astrophysical S-factor are calculated for all possible electric and magnetic dipole transitions in ^(15)*** linear extrapolated S-factor at zero energy(S(0))agrees well with earlier reported values for all transition types considered in this *** on the value of the total astrophysical S-factor,depending on the collision energy,we calculate the nuclear reaction rates for p+^(14)n→^(15)O+γ.The computed rates agree well with the results reported in the nACRE II Collaboration and most recent existing measurements.

The neutron capture rates and temperature dependent stellar beta decay rates of Mo isotopes are investigated within the framework of the statistical code TALYS v1.96 and the proton neutron quasi particle random phase approximation(pn-QRPA)*** Maxwellian average cross-section(MACS)and neutron capture rates for the^(95-98)Mo(n,γ)^(96-99)Mo radiative capture process are analyzed within the framework of the statistical code TALYS v1.96 based on the phenomenological nuclear level density model and gamma strength *** present model-based computations for the MACS are comparable to the existing measured *** sensitivity of stellar weak interaction rates to various densities and temperatures is investigated within the framework of the pn-QRPA *** attention is paid to the impact of thermally filled excited states in the decaying nuclei(^(95-98)Mo)on electron emission and positron capture ***,we compare the neutron capture rates and stellar beta decay *** is found that neutron capture rates are higher than stellar beta decay rates at both lower and higher temperatures.

Effectiveness of external prestressing in enhancing the non-ductile hanger failure mechanism in reinforced concrete inverted T-beams

Recently,inverted T-beams have been used in reinforced concrete(RC)bridges to support transverse precast *** T-beams,contrary to practice with conventional beams,are loaded on the flanges upper *** loading configuration causes hanger failure due to the generation of vertical tensile stresses near the bottom of the *** key purpose of this study is to investigate the efficiency of vertical external prestressing stainless-steel bars in mitigating non-ductile hanger failure in reinforced concrete inverted *** experimental study on six inverted-T beams,including two un-strengthened specimens,was carried *** study showed that the value of the prestressing level had a considerable impact on the performance of hanger mechanism in relation to crack pattern,ultimate loads,cracking behavior,load-deflection,strains,and *** experimental results indicated that the suggested method for strengthening inverted T-beams had efficacy in reducing the seriousness of the non-ductile hanger failure and resulted in a strength increase of up to 53% when compared to that of the un-strengthened ***,two analytical models for estimating the hanger capacity and the average crack width of the strengthened RC inverted T-beams were *** models that were proposed exhibited a high degree of agreement with the experimental results.

Melt-cast explosives are the most widely used energetic materials in military composite explosives,researchers have been.un.emittingly exploring high-energy and insensitive melt-cast *** this work,a series of dinitrophenyl-oxadiazole compounds were designed and *** compounds have an ideal low melting point(80-97℃),good detonation performance(detonation velocity D=6455-6971 m/s,detonation pressure P=18-19 GPa)and extreme insensitive nature(impact sensitivity≥60 J,friction sensitivity>360 n).All these compounds were well characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,elemental *** 2,3 were unambiguously confirmed by X-ray single crystal diffraction *** a result,their overall properties are superior to traditional melt-cast explosives trinitrotoluene(TnT)and dinitroanisole(DnAn)which may have excellent potential applications in insensitive melt-cast explosives.

BACKGROunD The four components that make up the current dual-mobility artificial hip joint design are the femoral head,the inner liner,the outer liner as a metal cover to prevent wear,and the acetabular *** acetabular cup and the outer liner were constructed of 316L stainless *** the same time,the inner liner was made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene(UHMWPE).As this new dual-mobility artificial hip joint has not been researched extensively,more tribological research is needed to predict *** thickness of the inner liner is a significant component to consider when calculating the contact *** To make use of finite element analysis to gain a better understanding of the contact behavior in various inner liner thicknesses on a new model of a dual-mobility artificial hip joint,with the ultimate objective of determining the inner liner thickness that was most suitable for this particular type of dual-mobility artificial hip *** In this study,the size of the femoral head was compared between two diameters(28 mm and 36 mm)and eight inner liner thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 12 *** the finite element method,the contact parameters,including the maximum contact pressure and contact area,have been evaluated in light of the Hertzian contact *** simulation was performed statically with dissipated energy and asymmetric *** types of interaction were surface-to-surface contact and normal contact *** The maximum contact pressures in the inner liner(UHMWPE)at a head diameter of 28 mm and 36 mm are between 3.7-13.5 MPa and 2.7-10.4 MPa,*** maximum von Mises of the inner liner,outer liner,and acetabular cup are 2.4–11.4 MPa,15.7–44.3 MPa,and 3.7–12.6 MPa,respectively,for 28 mm *** the maximum von Mises stresses of the 36 mm head are 1.9-8.9 MPa for the inner liner,9.9-32.8 MPa for the outer liner,and 2.6-9.9 MPa for the acetabular cup.A head with a diameter of 28 mm should have an inner line

Enhancement of phosphors-solubility in ZnO by thermal annealing

We have demonstrated the effect of annealing temperature on the diffusion density of phosphors in zinc oxide. The P-dopant P430 was sprayed on ZnO pellets and annealed at different temperatures from 500 to 1000 ℃ with a step of 100 ℃ for one hour using a programmable furnace. The concentration of P was controlled by varying the annealing temperature and the maximum solubility of P （3% At） was achieved at annealing 800 ℃ determined by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction （EDX） measurements. X-ray diffraction （XRD） confirmed the hexagonal structure of ZnO and showed that the growth direction was along the c-axis. We observed a maximum up shift in the （002） plane at an annealing temperature of 800 ℃, suggesting that P atoms replaced Zn atoms in the structure which results in the reduction of the lattice constant. Room temperature photoluminescence （PL） spectrum consists of a peak at 3.28 eV and related to band edge emission, but samples annealed at 800 and 900 ℃ have an additional donor acceptor pair peak at 3.2 eV. Hall effect measurements confirmed the p-type conductivity of the sample annealed at 800 ℃.

Characteristics of lightning‐induced voltages based on experimental data

this paper presents an analysis of 64 lightning‐induced voltage waveforms recorded in an experimental system implemented in the campus of the university of São Paulo,*** voltages were measured on a 10 m high,2.7 km long un‐energized overhead line consisting of two conductors installed on 6 m *** of the conductors had surge arresters,while the other one was left *** speaking,all the recorded voltages on the unprotected conductor were bipolar,but in many cases only one semi‐cycle could be considered important for practical *** criteria are discussed for the determination of the waveshape parameters,which may differ signifi-cantly from those of the standard lightning impulse voltage(1.2/50μs).Based on the proposed criterion for classifying the induced voltages,unipolar waveforms accounted for 67%of the total and,except for one case,all of them had positive *** median values of the front time and time‐to‐half‐value were,respectively,5.2μs and 15.8μ*** waveforms were 33%of the total and in approximately 62%of the cases the first semi‐cycle was of positive *** 91%of the cases the voltage peak occurred either in the first or the second semi‐cycle.

K-P-Burgers equation in negative ion-rich relativistic dusty plasma including the effect of kinematic viscosity

The stationary solution is obtained for the K–P–Burgers equation that describes the nonlinear propagations of dust ion acoustic waves in a multi-component, collisionless, un-magnetized relativistic dusty plasma consisting of electrons, positive and negative ions in the presence of charged massive dust grains. Here, the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili(K–P) equation, threedimensional(3D) Burgers equation, and K–P–Burgers equations are derived by using the reductive perturbation method including the effects of viscosity of plasma fluid, thermal energy, ion density, and ion temperature on the structure of a dust ion acoustic shock wave(DIASW). The K–P equation predictes the existences of stationary small amplitude solitary wave,whereas the K–P–Burgers equation in the weakly relativistic regime describes the evolution of shock-like structures in such a multi-ion dusty plasma.
