ng>Introduction:ng> Cystic breast cancer is a rare entity. Breast cysts are most often benign. The clinical characteristics of malignancy are not specific. Objective: To report a series of malignant cystic tumors of the breast and to describe their different characteristics. Materials and Methods: This was an observational study carried out between January 2018 and October 2021 at the Dakar university surgical oncology unit. We studied the clinical appearance, imaging, histopathology, extent of disease and treatment. We did not include cases of pure, single, or multiple chronically progressive cysts. Results: There were 8 patients, 6 women and 2 men. The average age was 44. All patients presented with a palpable unilateral deforming skin mass without inflammatory character. One patient presented with a bloody discharge. The cyst was multilocular without intracystic growth in 2 cases and presented a growth signal in 6 cases. Imaging was ACR 3 in 5 cases and ACR 4 in 3 cases. Histopathology found 6 invan style="font-family:Verda

Surgery for Early Stage Invasive Cervical Cancer. Experience of the Oncology Department of Ledantec Hospital

Background: Surgery is the treatment for early-stage cervical cancer. Radiochemotherapy is used in the treatment of locally advanced stages. But the choice of treatment can be difficult. Objective: The objective of this work was to evaluate the therapeutic aspects of cervical cancer in the early stages IA to IIA in the oncology department of A Ledantec Hospital in Dakar. Patients and methods: This was a descriptive retrospective study, from January 2015 to December 2020, in the oncology department of A Ledantec Hospital, including all the patients who had been treated for early-stage invasive cervical cancer. Results: We included 28 patients. The average age was 49.54 years old. There were 11 patients (39.3%) with a stage ≤ IB1. Surgery was the first in 14 patients (50%). The initial approach was a midline supra and subumbilical laparotomy. The surgery was R0 in 65.22%. Postoperative complications were found in 4 patients including 1 case of operative wound suppuration, 1 case of dysuria, 1 case of postoperative eventration and 1 case of rectovaginal fistula. Concomitant Radiochemotherapy was neoadjuvant in 7 cases (25%), adjuvant in 14 cases (50%). The chemotherapy was neoadjuvant in 09 cases (56.25%) and adjuvant in 7 cases (43.75%) with minor toxicities. We had recorded 2 deaths. Conclusion: The treatment of the early stages of invasive cervical cancer is based on surgery. neoadjuvant treatments may be useful in particular situations.

Coercivity Enhancement of nd-Fe-B Thin Film Magnets through Dy Surface Diffusion Process

The Dy capping layer was deposited at different temperatures on the nd-Fe-B thin films to investigate the mechanism of the coercivity enhancement through the Dy surface diffusion. The highest coercivity of 2005 ka/m （25.2 kOe） was obtained at the Dy deposition temperature of 460℃, which was significantly higher than the value of 1297 ka/m （16.3 kOe） without Dy capping layer. By performing the transmission electron microscopy （TEM） analysis, it was found that some of the grain boundaries were enriched with nd element, which could be partly ascribed to the promotion by the Dy surface diffusion. In comparison to the evolution of the spin reorientation temperature of nd2Fe14B phase after the deposition of the Dy capping layer, it is concluded that structural modification plays a significant role in the coercivity enhancement due to the Dy surface diffusion.

Introduction Using the information obtained from analysis of 16S rRnA gene sequences,Tsukamurella was first proposed as a genus in 1988,1 despite the fact that the first strain of this group of bacteria was described in 1941,2 and the first human isolate was reported in 1971.3 Similar to related genera of the order Corynebacteriales,such as nocardia,Rhodococcus,and Gordonia,members of Tsukamurella are Gram-positive,aerobic,catalase-positive,and partially acid-fast as a result of the presence of mycolic acid in the cell *** to their similar phenotypic properties,differentiation of these genera and speciation within these genera is difficult in most clinical microbiology laboratories.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of preservation of the intercostobrachial nerve on postoperative sensory disturbances. Methods: This is an> prospective, single-center study which was carried out in 90 patients followed in the oncology department of the Aristide Le Dantec hospital in Dakar, suffering from breast cancer and having undergone breast surgery associated with axillary dissection, for a period of 6 months. The patients were divided into two groups depending on whether the intercostobrachial nerve (ICBN) was preserved or not. The two groups were compared in terms of the incidence of sensory disturbances. Tectonics induced switching of provenance during the Late Quaternary aggradation of the Indus River Valley, Ladakh, India

The Indus River flows through Ladakh, one of the driest and coldest places on earth, in a tectonically active domain. Fluvial, glaciofluvial, lacustrine and debris dominated sequences represent the Late Quaternary sedimentary record along the river course. karakoram Fault, a major crustal scaled feature reported to be active during the Quaternary, is associated with the Indus River drainage. Linkages between a major, active fault and deposits formed during the activity period of the fault are explored using heavy mineral deduced provenance and Optically Stimulated Luminescence(OSL) *** deposits in a ~200 km long stretch of the Indus River have been examined for a ~80 ka period to decipher the climate linked aggradation history. Damming of the Indus River at ~79 ka and existence of the Spituk Lake for >30 ka is demonstrated. Using geology of the provenance in relation to the mineralogical attributes of the Quaternary deposits, the major drainage reorganization when the connection of the Tangtse Valley to the Indus was blocked, is inferred at ~73 ka. It is supported by the geologicalgeomorphological evidence. The study demonstrates the application of provenance linked mineralogy in terrestrial aggradation in a tectonically active region.

Pulsed high-current discharge in water:adiabatic model of expanding plasma channel and acoustic wave

This paper presents the results of a theoretical and experimental study of the use of a pulsed discharge in water to obtain a strong acoustic wave in a liquid medium.A discharge with a current amplitude of 10 ka,a duration of 400 ns,and an amplitude pulsed power of 280 MW in water at atmospheric pressure created an expanding acoustic wave with an amplitude of more than 100 *** describe the formation of the discharge channel,an isothermal plasma model has been developed,which made it possible to calculate both the expansion dynamics of a high-current channel and the strong acoustic wave generated by *** calculations show that the number density of plasma in the channel reaches 10^(20) cm^(-3),while the degree of water vapor ionization is about 10%,and the channel wall extends with a velocity of 500 m s^(−1).The calculations for the acoustic wave are in good agreement with measurements.

We report a case of metastatic prostate cancer diagnosed on a shoulder mass and treated with analgesic radiotherapy and chemotherapy and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).ng> Observations:ng> A 66 years old patient was referred for a painful right shoulder mass whose biopsy and pathological examination found a Gleason 8 (4 + 4) moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The PSA level was 508.52 ng/ml. The patient was treated with analgesic radiotherapy on the right shoulder and chemo-hormonal therapy. At 2 years follow-up, the disease was well controlled. ng>Conclusion:ng> A shoulder mass revealing metastatic prostate cancer is not common. Local treatment of the symptomatic metastasis while continuing chemotherapy and ADT improves the quality of life.
