Our previous study showed the early molecular responses of bone in response to obstructive nephropathy in a unilateral ureteral obstruction （UUO） mouse model. Here, we addressed the changes in trabecular bone properties at greater trochanter, the proximal and the distal metaphysis of femur in UUO mice. The male mice were subjected to UUO （n= 10） or sham operation （n= 10）. All mice were killed on day 7 after the surgical operation. The micro-computed tomography （micro-CT） analysis for different femoral trabecular bone sites demonstrated pathological alterations of trabecular bone mass and micro-networks at greater trochanter as shown by decreases in bone mineral density/bone volume （P〈O.05） and trabecular number （P〈O.05） and increases in trabecular separation （P〈O.01） and bone surface/bone volume （P〈O.05） in UUO mice. The present study demonstrates that UUO-induced unilateral obstructivenephropathy has markedly detrimental effects on the trabecular trochanter of the femur.

Two-dimensional electride Ca_(2)n has strong electron transfer ability and low work function,which is a potential candidate for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)*** this work,based on density functional theory calculations,we adopt two strategies to improve the HER catalytic activity of Ca_(2)n monolayer:introducing Ca or n vacancy and doping transition metal atoms(TM,refers to Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Zr,nb,Mo,Ru,Hf,Ta and W).Interestingly,the Gibbs free energyΔG_(H*)of Ca_(2)n monolayer after introducing n vacancy is reduced to-0.146 e V,showing good HER catalytic *** is highlighted that,the HER catalytic activity of Ca_(2)n monolayer can be further enhanced with TM doping,the Gibbs free energyΔG_(H*)of single Mo and double Mn doped Ca_(2)n are predicted to be 0.119 and 0.139 e V,*** present results will provide good theoretical guidance for the HER catalysis applications of two-dimensional electride Ca_(2)n monolayer.

This study aimed to in vitro evaluate the impact of common gastrointestinal(GI)alterations appearing with aging on protein digestibility,and functional related properties,in four different meats(chicken,turkey,pork and beef).Thus,three elderly digestion models were stated as long as altered GI conditions affected at oral(E1),oral and gastric(E2)and oral,gastric and intestinal stages(E3).Healthy adult GI conditions were also mimicked as standard control model(C).A notable trichloroacetic acid(TCA)soluble protein and the free amino acids(FAA)release reduction(pnd under intestinal suboptimal conditions(E3),being more accused in beef than in other ***,chicken intake would be more advisable,than other meats,in terms of protein digestibility;while beef would provide a greater net supply of FAA under E3 model *** altered conditions,seem to favor protein ***,while gastric and intestinal suboptimal conditions diminish the angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)inhibition of meat digesta,their antioxidant activity was only negatively affected by intestinal altered conditions.

BACKGROUnD Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder. Dysregulation of the gut–brain axis plays a central role in the pathophysiology of IBS. It is increasingly clear that the microbiome plays a key role in the development and normal functioning of the gut–brain *** To facilitate the identification of specific areas of focus that may be of relevance to future research. This study represents a bibliometric analysis of the literature pertaining to the microbiome in IBS to understand the development of this *** The data used in our bibliometric analysis were retrieved from the Scopus database. The terms related to IBS and microbiome were searched in titles or abstracts within the period of 2000–2019. VOSviewer software was used for data *** A total of 13055 documents related to IBS were retrieved at the global level. There were 1872 scientific publications focused on the microbiome in IBS. There was a strong positive correlation between publication productivity related to IBS in all fields and productivity related to the microbiome in IBS(r = 0.951, P nited States was the most prolific country with 449(24%) publications, followed by the United Kingdom(n = 176, 9.4%), China(n = 154, 8.2%), and Italy(n = 151, 8.1%). The h-index for all retrieved publications related to the microbiome in IBS was 138. Chitinases catalyze the hydrolysis of chitin, a linear homopolymer of β-(1,4)-linked n-acetylglucosamine. The broad range of applications of chitinolytic enzymes makes their identification and study very promising. Metagenomic approaches offer access to functional genes in uncultured representatives of the microbiota and hold great potential in the discovery of novel enzymes, but tools to extensively explore these data are still scarce. In this study, we develop a chitinase mining pipeline to facilitate the comprehensive search of these enzymes in environmental metagenomic databases and also to explore phylogenetic relationships among the retrieved sequences. In order to perform the analyses, UniprotKB fungal and bacterial chitinases sequences belonging to the glycoside hydrolases (GH) family-18, 19 and 20 were used to generate 15 reference datasets, which were then used to generate high quality seed alignments with the MAFFT program. Profile Hidden Markov Models (pHMMs) were built from each seed alignment using the hmmbuild program of HMMER v3.0 package. The best-hit sequences returned by hmmsearch against two environmental metagenomic databases (Community Cyberinfrastructure for Advanced Microbial Ecology Research and Analysis—CAMERA and Integrated Microbial Genomes—IMG/M) were retrieved and further analyzed. The nJ trees generated for each chitinase dataset showed some variability in the catalytic domain region of the metagenomic sequences and revealed common sequence patterns among all the trees. The scanning of the retrieved metagenomic sequences for chitinase conserved domains/signatures using both the InterPro and the RPS-BLAST tools confirmed the efficacy and sensitivity of our pHMM-based approach in detecting putative chitinases sequences. These analyses provide insight into the potential reservoir of novel molecules in metagenomic databases while supporting the chitinase mining pipeline developed in this work.
