Interestingly, some patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction have normal coronary artery anatomy at cooronary angiography. This situation is called as MINCA (acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary artery). The incidence of MINCA varies between 1.0% and 8.5%. Although some reasons have been propounded, the exact underlying mechanism remains unclear. Nevertheless, thoracic myelitis can be as a possible cause of myocardial infarction. Herein, we report a case of acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary artery in a patient with multiple sclerosis.

We have performed a survey using magnetotellurics at Catalca region on northwestern Turkey by the aim of investigating main features of the study area especially the Catalca *** collected magnetotelluric data at 9 stations on a single southwest-northeast *** the beginning of the process we checked the dimensionality of the data by the phase tensor ***,Groom & Bailey’s decomposition method was used to remove the distortion effects from the data and obtain a precise geoelectrical strike *** after,to obtain electrical resistivity depth models we used the algorithm developed by Ogawa and Uchida which uses ABIC and handles static shift effects during the inversion process.

Background: Arteriovenous malformations (AVM) in mandible and neck are potentially life-threatening conditions because of possible massive hemorrhage. They are often first diagnosed by dentists as bleeding. In this case, we report how a tooth extraction turned to a catastrophic condition in a patient with multiple AVMs in the mandibular, submandibular and hyoid region. Case: A 19-year-old male patient diagnosed with AVMs in the mandibular and submandibular regions was admitted to our hospital with the complaint of leaky hemorrhage around the lower left 3rd molar tooth. Tooth extraction was planned after embolization procedure. The patient was intubated uneventfully using video laryngoscope. However, an acute bleeding of more than 1600 ml occurred in one minute just after the mouth opener was inserted. The patient was transferred to the Interventional Radiology and other branches of the high-flow AVM were embolized. The patient was taken back to the operating room and the tooth was extracted uneventfully. Conclusion: In AVM cases, trauma should be minimized during induction of general anesthesia and intubation should be performed gently with fiberoptic bronchoscopy or video laryngoscopy. We conclude that a multidisciplinary approach as applied to our patient would be valuable in such cases.

In this report, we describe the performance of a conservative and minimally invasive dental approach in four patients exhibiting Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI), a structural anomaly of the enamel. In each patient, approximately 0.5 mm of the most external, porous, and colored enamel layer was removed, and the teeth were restored using two different nanocomposites. Posterior restorations were completed with the same approach. As a result, this contemporary restorative system is a conservative and successful treatment option to restore the loss of oral esthetics and function due to AI. Rehabilitation with direct resin restorations is not only an inexpensive treatment choice, but also a more conservative technique that reduces the amount of preparation required for teeth that are already compromised.

AIM: To investigate the frequency of seropositivity aga- inst CagA, VacA proteins and to determine their indepen- dent effects on the development of duodenal ulcer (DU) in Turkish patients. METHODS: The study was designed as a prospective one from a tertiary referral hospital. Dyspeptic patients who were referred to our endoscopy unit for upper gas- trointestinal endoscopy between June 2003 and March 2004 and diagnosed to have DU or nonulcer dyspepsia (NUD) were included. Biopsies from the antrum and body of the stomach were taken in order to assess the current H pylori status by histology, rapid urease test and culture. Fasting sera were obtained from all patients and H pylori status of all sera was determined by IgG antibo- dies using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELI- SA) kit. All seropositive patients were further analysed using Western blot assays detecting IgG antibodies aga- inst CagA and VacA proteins. The χ2 test was used for statistical comparison of the values and age-sex adjusted multiple regression analysis was used to determine the independent effects of CagA and VacA seropositivities on the development of DU. RESULTS: Sixty-three patients with DU and 62 patients with NUD were eligible for the final analysis. Seropositi- vity for anti-CagA was detected in 51 of 62 (82%), andin 55 of 63 (87%) patients with NUD and DU, respec- tively (p = no significance), and seropositivity for anti- VacA was found in 25 of 62 (40% ) and in 16 of 63 (25%) patients, with NUD and DU, respectively. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that none of the- se virulence factors is associated with the development of DU in the studied Turkish patients with dyspepsia.

Brucellosis is an important zoonotic disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella encountered in animals such as cows, sheep, goats and pigs as well as in humans. It is one of the most widely seen infections and nearly half a million cases are declared annually. Endemic infections occur especially in the Mediterranean, Middle East, Latin America and Asia.~1 Seropositiveness ratios vary between 2% and 12% in Turkey.~2 The average annual number of cases declared to the Turkish Ministry of Health between 1991 and 2000 was 9000.~3

Molecular epidemiology of HIV-1 strains in the south-east and east of Turkey

Objective:To detect the subtype characterization and drug-resistant mutations in HIV-1 strains after the refugee movement from Syria to Turkey between 2011 and 2014 in south east border lines. Methods: A total of 65 patients were included in this study, of which 57(88%) patients were antiretroviral therapy-naive patients. HIV-1 RNA was detected and quantii ed by realtime PCR assay. HIV-1 subtypes and circulating recombinant forms(CRFs) were identii ed by phylogenetic analysis(neighbor-joining method), and drug-resistant mutations were ***: Three major HIV groups were indicated. Two of these groups were located in subtype B. The other group showed heterogeneity. Subtype B(48/65, 73.8%), followed by CRFs(12/65, 18.5%) was the most common strain. Subtype of CRFs consisted of CRF01_AE(9/65, 13.8%) and CRF02_AG(3/65, 4.6%). Subtype C(1/65, 1.5%), sub-subtypes A1(2/65, 3.1%) and F1(2/65, 3.1%) were also detected with low prevalence. The rate of overall primary antiretroviral resistance was 4.9%(3/61). Drug-resistant rate for non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors was 4.9%. The thymidine analogue mutation rate was 13.1%(8/61).Conclusions: HIV molecular epidemiology studies are necessary to determine transmission patterns and spread. Subtype B and CRF01_AE, CRF02_AG are the most prevalent strains in the south-east of Turkey. However, subtype C, sub-subtypes A1 and F1 are of low prevalence but persist in the south-east of Turkey. In the near future, changing of HIV epidemiology will be possible in Turkey due to migration movement in border lines and resistance testing will play an important role in HIV management.
