Processing bioactive peptides from natural sources using electrodialysis with ultrafiltration membranes(EDUF)have gained attention since it can fractionate in terms of their charge and molecular *** is a pseudo-cereal highlighted by its high protein content,amino acid profile and adapting growing *** present work aimed at the production of quinoa peptides through fractionation using EDUF and to test the fractions according to antihypertensive and antidiabetic *** data showed the production of peptides ranging between 0.4 and 1.5 k ***(CQPF)(3.01%),anionic(AQPF)(1.18%)and the electrically neutral fraction quinoa protein hydrolysate(QPH)-EDUF(~95%)were ***-vitro studies showed the highest glucose uptake modulation in L6 cell skeletal myoblasts in presence of QPH-EDUF and AQPF(17%and 11%)indicating potential antidiabetic *** antihypertensive effect studied in-vivo in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR),showed a decrease in systolic blood pressure in presence of the fractionated peptides,being 100 mg/kg a dose comparable to Captopril(positive control).These results contribute to the current knowledge of bioactive peptides from quinoa by reporting the relevance of EDUF as tool to produce selected peptide ***,further characterization is needed towards peptide sequencing,their respective role in the metabolism and scaling-up production using EDUF.

Hirschsprung’s disease(HD)is a congenital disorder,characterized by aganglionosis in the distal part of the gastrointestinal *** complete surgical resection of the aganglionic segment,both constipation and fecal incontinence persist in a considerable number of patients with limited treatment *** is growing evidence for structural abnormalities in the ganglionic bowel proximal to the aganglionosis in both humans and animals with HD,which may play a role in persistent bowel *** abnormalities include:(1)Histopathological abnormalities of enteric neural cells;(2)Imbalanced expression of neurotransmitters and neuroproteins;(3)Abnormal expression of enteric pacemaker cells;(4)Abnormalities of smooth muscle cells;and(5)Abnormalities within the extracellular ***,a better understanding of these previously unrecognized neuropathological abnormalities may improve follow-up and treatment in patients with HD suffering from persistent bowel dysfunction following surgical *** the long term,further combination of clinical and neuropathological data will hopefully enable a translational step towards more individual treatment for HD.

Circulating level of low HDLC （high-density lipoprotein cholesterol） represents a common critical risk factor for IHD （ischemic heart disease） and may further aggravate the condition in anemic subjects, as the presence of anemia itself is a threat to cardiovascular consequences. To investigate the relationship of circulating HDLC with anemia, first we determined the levels of total hemoglobin （Hb） in a total of 301 subjects （male, n = 158; female, n = 143） randomly, and then examined the circulating levels of HDLC in fasting condition. Age of the study subjects was 47.9 ~ 16.6 （mean ＋ SD） years. Both the male and female subjects were divided into three groups according to their levels of Hb. The relationship of circulating levels of HDLC with the levels of total Hb was statistically analyzed. In case of the male subjects, we found that the levels of HDLC differed significantly among the three groups with different levels of Hb （P = 0.0233） and decrease in the levels of HDLC correlated significantly with the gradual decrease of total Hb level （r = 0.2504; P = 0.0015）. In female subjects, we observed a similar trend of difference among the three groups （P = 0.0685）. However, decrease in the levels of HDLC correlated significantly with the gradual decrease of Hb level （r = 0,2199; P = 0.0083）. Altogether, this study demonstrates that decrease in the circulating HDLC is related to the gradual decrease of Hb level. This study also indicates that circulating level of HDLC may be influenced by the level of total Hb and reveals the cardiovascular risks in anemia as well.

The paper presents a study on the cohesion of volcanic ash particles using surface free energy determination and zeta potential *** is a subject of great interest in physical volcanology,as many researches on volcanic particle aggregation are frequently *** this case,special attention is paid to the role of structural or hydration forces between hydrophilic surfaces,which are a consequence of the electron-donor/electron-acceptor character of the *** this point of view,the results are potentially interesting as they could give valuable insights into this *** results are presented in terms of the total energy of interaction between dispersed particles,computed from the extended DLVO *** to the total free energy of interaction were determined from the zeta potential and surface free energy of ash,measured under different experimental *** samples of basaltic volcanic ash(black and white)with silica contents of 44% and 63% respectively are *** surface free energy and zeta potential were analysed for ashes immersed in different electrolytes(naCl,CaCl,FeCl).The presence of electrolytes changes the surface properties of the solid *** analysis of total interaction energy between the ash particles in aqueous medium shows that soil cohesion strongly depends on ash surface properties,chemical nature,the adsorbed cation on the surface,and p H value.

本文中作者将新型双磙子FPS系统的动力学方程推广到由滚动FPS和MR阻尼器组成的混合隔震基础系统,得到了更便于应用的水平分量形式的运动微分方程,并将与FPS有关的力和MR阻尼力处理成力源项,构造了可以方便地考虑不同上部结构形式的MATLAB/SIMULInK仿真模型。采用RD-1005型MR阻尼器和模糊逻辑控制器,在两个典型的地震输入情况下对混合系统进行了振动控制仿真。仿真结果表明,本文建立的混合隔震基础系统的动力学模型是正确和精确的,直接利用动力学模型进行前向计算可避免附加的模型误差且计算效率高,而仿真模型中将不同的力源由分开的块组成,使得仿真设计非常方便快捷。

The experimental work reported here is devoted to the study of the luminous activity of a long dielectric barrier discharge （DBD） afterglow at atmospheric pressure. The discharge plasma is generated in a commercially available （AcXys Technologies） reactor, using a n2 flow of a few tens SL/min, whereas the luminous afterglow when channelled into a quartz tube extends at a distance of 50 cm, finishing in a luminous arrow at the tube＇s exit. The luminous activity of the afterglow is studied by means of photomultiplier scans and optical emission spectroscopy, revealing an interesting transient phase. An attempt is made to correlate this effect with the active species＇ creation and destruction mechanisms.

Facial imaging is a term used to describe methods that use facial images to assist or facili-tate human identification. This pertains to two craniofacial identification procedures that use skulls and faces—facial approximation and photographic superimposition—as well as face-only methods for age progression/regression, the construction of facial graphics from eye-witness memory (including composites and artistic sketches), facial depiction, face mapping and newly emerging methods of molecular photofitting. Given the breadth of these facial imaging techniques, it is not surprising that a broad array of subject-matter experts partici-pate in and/or contribute to the formulation and implementation of these methods (includ-ing forensic odontologists, forensic artists, police officers, electrical engineers, anatomists, geneticists, medical image specialists, psychologists, computer graphic programmers and software developers). As they are concerned with the physical characteristics of humans, each of these facial imaging areas also falls in the domain of physical anthropology, although not all of them have been traditionally regarded as such. This too offers useful opportunities to adapt established methods in one domain to others more traditionally held to be disciplines within physical anthropology (e.g. facial approximation, craniofacial super-imposition and face photo-comparison). It is important to note that most facial imaging methods are not currently used for identification but serve to assist authorities in narrowing or directing investigations such that other, more potent, methods of identification can be used (e.g. DnA). Few, if any, facial imaging approaches can be considered honed end-stage scientific methods, with major opportunities for physical anthropologists to make meaningful contributions. Mucinous adenocarcinoma represents a rare subtype of adenocarcinoma of the lung, which is frequently invasive and has a poorer prognosis. Of its wide range of imaging appearances, air-space consolidation is the most frequent pattern while cavitary form has only rarely been reported. Despite imaging advancements, the differentiation of benign and malignant cavitary lung lesions sometimes remains imperfect. We propose "Tambourine" sign on computed tomography to raise the suspicion of mucinous adenocarcinoma in a lung cavity, under appropriate clinical settings. The sign indicates an irregular cavity with undistorted prominent thick walled bronchioles within the wall and draping along thereby resembling the musical instrument "tambourine". Adjacent ground glass and internal septations may also be seen.
