AIM:To investigate cell cycle proteins in chronic hepatitis C virus infection in order to analyze their role in the process of hepatocyte transformation and to characterize their prognostic properties. METHODS:Subjects of the current study included 50 cases of chronic hepatitis C(CHC) without cirrhosis,30 cases of CHC with liver cirrhosis(LC) ,and 30 cases of hepatitis C-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) admitted to the Department of Hepato-Gastroenterology,Theodor Bilharz Research Institute(TBRI) ,Giza,*** wedge liver biopsies,taken during laparoscopic cholecystectomy,were also included as normal *** investigations including urine and stool analysis,liver function tests and prothrombin concentration;serologic markers for viral hepatitis and ultrasonography were done for all cases of the study together with immunohistochemical analysis using primary antibodies against Cyclin D1,Cyclin E,p21,p27 and Rb/p105 proteins. RESULTS:Normal wedge liver biopsies didn't express Cyclin E or Rb/p105 immunostaining but show positive staining for Cyclin D1,p21 and *** D1 expressed nuclear staining that was sequentially increased from CHC to LC(P<0.01) to HCC(P<0.001) cases;meanwhile,Cyclin E revealed nuclear positivity only in the case of HCCs patients that was directly correlated to Rb/p105 *** expression of p21 and p27 was significantly increased in CHC and LC cases compared to normal controls and HCCs with no significant difference between well-and poorlydifferentiated tumors.p21 showed only a nuclear pattern of staining,while,p27 presented with either cytoplasmic and/or nuclear reactivity in all studied *** analysis revealed a direct relation between Cyclin D1 and p21 in CHC cases(P<0.001) ,between Cyclin D1 and Cyclin E in HCCs(P<0.01);however,an inverserelationship was detected between Cyclin D1 and p21 or p27(P<0.001) and between p21 and Rb/p105(P<0.05) in HCCs. Background:Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)is one of the five leading causes of death among children in developing countries,accounting for approximately three million deaths per *** of the modifiable risk factors of CAP may help to reduce the burden of this *** this study,the impact of the socioeconomic status(SES)on the severity and outcome of CAP among Egyptian children was ***:This was a prospective longitudinal cohort study which included 1,470 children diagnosed with CAP,aged two to 15 years(median age 5.4 years).The diagnosis of CAP was based on clinical and radiological findings.A structured questionnaire and the patients’medical records were used for the data *** subjects were divided into two groups:mild and severe *** and demographic variables were compared,and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was ***:The multivariate analysis showed that a low maternal education level(OR:3.8;95%CI:2.12-6.70;P=.0001),unavailability of adequate medical care(OR:3.1;95%CI:1.99-4.88;P=.0001),a low family income(OR:2.2;95%CI:0.99-4.78;P=.047),and parents’smoking habits(OR:2.0;95%CI:1.15-3.55;P=.014)were significant independent predictive risk factors for severe CAP among Egyptian ***:Public health measures against these socio-demographic risk factors should be identified as priorities in order to help reduce the disease burden of deaths from severe CAP among Egyptian children.

·AIM:To investigate the independent pathogenic role of high serum gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels, sociodemographic data, dietary and environmental risk factors for visual disability (VD). ·METHODS:This was a case-control study, run in 200 black Congolese patients managed in Saint Joseph Hospital Ophthalmology Division from Kinshasa town. Logistic regression model was used to identify determinants of VD (n = 58) among sex, age, cigarette smoking, alcohol abuse, rural-urban migration, education levels, aging ≥60 years, intake of red Beans, Safou fruit and Taro leaves, lipid profile, residence, socioeconomic status, and GGT. ·RESULTS:After adjusting for confounding factors, we identified migration (OR=3.7 95% CI:1.2-11.3; P =0.023), low education level (OR=3.1 95% CI 1.1-8.5; P =0.026), no intake of Safou fruit (OR=34.2 95% CI 11.5-102; P < 0.0001), age ≥60 years (OR=2.5 95% CI 1.01-6.5; P = 0.049), and serum GGT ≥10U/L (OR=3.6 95% CI 1.3-9.6; P = 0.012) as the significant and independent determinants of VD. ·CONCLUSION:VD appears as a major public health problem in Central Africa to be prevented or delayed by control of migration, lifestyle changes, antioxidant supplements, appropriate diet, nutrition education, and blocking of oxidative stress.

Effect of Therapeutic Ginger on Genotoxic of Taxol Drug （Anti-Cancer） in Bone Marrow Cell of Male Mice

Medicinal use of spices/herbs has been gradually increased in the developed countries, Zingiber officinale （Ginger） is known to possess potent antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the possible anti-mutagenic effect of ginger against the genotoxic effect of anti-cancer drug Taxol 0.6 mg/kg. This study is conducted by using two types of cytogenetic studies in bone marrow cell of mal albino mice Mus musculus （average weight 25-30 g）. The animals were randomly distributed into six groups, each of 14 mi[ce, （GI） was given the solvent, （G2） treatment of the medical dose of Taxol drug, （G3） treatment of ginger, （G4） a pre-treatment of ginger prior to treatment of drug, （G5） a simultaneous treatment of ginger and treatment of drug, （G6） a post-treatment of ginger after treatment drug. The study results show that significant increase in total chromosomal aberrations and significant increase in the number of micronuclei were observed after treatment drug. The significant structural aberrations were in the form of end-to-end associations. The numerical chromosomal aberrations were endomitosis and polyploid. The results showed that the frequencies of chromosomal aberrations and micronuclei in ginger treated group were not significantly different from control. Simultaneous treatment of ginger was found to be effective in reducing the genotoxic effects induced by drug Taxol especially in the total number of the chromosomal aberrations and the number of micronuclei.

Omission of the Bladder Flap Suggests Short Term and Long Term Benefits

Background: Cesarean section is now the most common major surgical procedure performed on women worldwide. With the increasing numbers of cesarean sections, there is the need to utilize evidence based techniques to optimize outcomes and minimize complications. We hypothesize that omission of the bladder flap in both primary and repeat cesarean sections will be associated with shorter operating time without a significant increase in intraoperative and postoperative complications. Methods: 550 patients were enrolled in the study. They were randomly allocated in the 2 groups to evaluate the effects of cancelling the bladder dissection. Results: Significant reduction of the total operating time (p = 0.01), skin to delivery time (p = 0.02) and micro-hematuria (p = 0.01) in group with bladder omission. Long term result: Including more bladder adhesion and fibrosis in the cases with bladder dissection. Conclusions: Omission of the bladder dissection achieved short-term advantages as regards reduction of operating time, incision-delivery duration and decreased blood loss as well as long-term effects include different in the bladder adhesion.

Previously,we showed that GATA-4 is a survival factor for cardiomyocytes and an upstream regulator of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-x ***-4 was found to be required for normal postnatal development and for adaptive heart response to Angll-induced pressure *** observed that GATA-4 is a key regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis which may explain these *** finding that GATA-4 and a key transcriptional coactivator of mitochondrial genes,PGC-1α,are part of a positive feedback loop and cooperate in transcriptional regulation provides a molecular basis for understanding the role of GATA proteins in normal postnatal cardiac development and in some adult heart diseases.

Osteosarcoma is one of the rare bone cancers that affect the individualsaged between 10 and 30 and it incurs high death rate. Early diagnosisof osteosarcoma is essential to improve the survivability rate and treatmentprotocols. Traditional physical examination procedure is not only a timeconsumingprocess, but it also primarily relies upon the expert’s *** this background, the recently developed Deep Learning (DL) models canbe applied to perform decision making. At the same time, hyperparameteroptimization of DL models also plays an important role in influencing overallclassification performance. The current study introduces a novel SymbioticOrganisms Search with Deep Learning-driven Osteosarcoma Detection andClassification (SOSDL-ODC) model. The presented SOSDL-ODC techniqueprimarily focuses on recognition and classification of osteosarcoma usinghistopathological images. In order to achieve this, the presented SOSDL-ODCtechnique initially applies image pre-processing approach to enhance the qualityof image. Also, MobileNetv2 model is applied to generate a suitable groupof feature vectors whereas hyperparameter tuning of MobileNetv2 modelis performed using SOS algorithm. At last, Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU)technique is applied as a classification model to determine proper class *** order to validate the enhanced osteosarcoma classification performance ofthe proposed SOSDL-ODC technique, a comprehensive comparative analysiswas conducted. The obtained outcomes confirmed the betterment of SOSDLODCapproach than the existing approaches as the former achieved a maximumaccuracy of 97.73%.
