This resea.c. develops and applies a system dynamics(SD) model for the strategic evaluation of environmental adaptation options for coastal communities. The article defines and estimates asset-based measures for community vulnerability, resilience, and adaptive capacity with respect to the environmental, economic, social, and cultural pillars of the coastal community under threat. The SD model simulates the annual multidimensional dynamic impacts of severe coastal storms and storm surges on the community pillars under alternative adaptation *** ca.c.lation of the quantitative measures provides valuable information for decision makers for evaluating the alternative strategies. The adaptation strategies are designed model results illustrated for the specific context of the coastal community of charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, canada. The dynamic trend of the measures and model sensitivity analyses for charlottetown—facing increased frequency of severe storms, storm surges, and sea-level rise—provide impetus for enha.c.d community strategic planning for the changing coastal *** resea.c. is presented as part of the International community-University Resea.c. AIM： To determine which IIRc scheme was used by retinoblastoma.c.nters worldwide and the percentage of D eyes treated primarily with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies as well as to correlate trends in treatment choice to IIRc version used and geographic region. METHODS： An anonymized electronic survey was offered to 115 physicians at 39 retinoblastoma.c.nters worldwide asking about IIRc classification schemes and treatment patterns used between 2008 and 2012. Participants were asked to record which version of the IIRc was used for classification, how many group D eyes were diagnosed, and how many eyes were treated with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies. Averages of eyes per treatment modality were ca.c.lated and stratified by both IIRc version and geographic region. Statistical significa.c. was determined by chi-square, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests using Prism. RESULTS： The survey was completed by 29% of physicians invited to participate. Totally 1807 D eyes were diagnosed. Regarding IIRc system, 27% of centers used the children＇s Hospital of Los Angeles （cHLA） version, 33% used the children＇s Oncology Group （cOG） version, 23% used the Philadelphia version, and 17% were unsure. The rate for primary enucleation varied between 0 and 100% and the mean was 29%. By IIRc version, primary enucleation rates were： Philadelphia, 8%; cOG, 34%; and cHLA, 37%. By geographic region, primary enucleation rates were： Latin America, 57%; Asia, 40%; Europe, 36%; Africa, 10%, US, 8%; and Middle East, 8%. However, systemic chemoreduction was used more often than enucleation in all regions except Latin America with a mean of 57% per center （P〈0.0001）. cONcLUSION： Worldwide there is no consensus on which IIRc version is used, systemic chemoreduction was the most frequently used initial treatment during the study period followed by enucleation and primary treatment modality, especially enucleation, varied greatly with regards to IIRc version used and geographic r

BAcKGROUND Neoadjuvant treatment(NT)with chemotherapy(ch)is a standard option for resectable stage III(N2)*** studies have suggested benefits with the addition of radiotherapy(RT)to NT *** International Association for the Study of Lung ca.c.r(IASLc)published recommendations for the pathological response(PHR)of NScLc resection specimens after *** To contribute to the IASLc recommendations showing our results of PHR to NT ch vs NT chemoradiotherapy(chRT).METHODS We analyzed 67 consecutive patients with resectable stage III NScLc with positive mediastinal nodes treated with surgery after NT ch or NT chRT between 2013 and *** NT,all patients were evaluated for radiological response(RR)a.c.rding to Response Evaluation criteria in Solid Tumours criteria and evaluated for surgery by a specialized group of thoracic *** histological samples were examined by the same two *** was evaluated by the percentage of viable cells in the tumor and the resected lymph *** Forty patients underwent NT chRT and 27 NT ***-six(83.6%)patients underwent surgery(35 chRT and 21 ch).The median time from chRT to surgery was 6 wk(3-19)and 8 wk(3-21)for ch *** observed significant differences in RR,with disease progression in 2.5%and 14.8%of patients with chRT and ch,respectively,and partial response in 62.5%chRT vs 29.6%ch(P=0.025).In PHR we observed≤10%viable cells in the tumor in 19(54.4%)and 2 cases(9.5%),and in the resected lymph nodes(RLN)30(85.7%)and 7(33.3%)in chRT and ch,respectively(P=0.001).Downstaging was greater in the chRT compared to the ch group(80%vs 33.3%;P=0.002).In the univariate analysis,NT chRT had a significant impact on partial RR[odds ratio(OR)12.5;95%confidence interval(cI):1.21-128.61;P=0.034],a decreased risk of persistence of ca.c.r cells in the tumor and RLN and an 87.5%increased probability for achieving downstaging(OR 8;95%cI:2.34-27.32;P=0.001).cONcLUSION We found significant benefits in RR and PHR

利用不同浓度Nacl和等渗聚乙二醇(PEG)处理盐生植物碱蓬(Sumeda salsa(L.)Pall.)和非盐生植物牧豆树(Prosopis chilensis(moll.)Stuntz)幼苗,在处理后的不同时间测定叶细胞质膜透性、膜脂过氧化作用(丙二醛(MDA)含量);超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性和蛋白质含量。结果表明:在0.496—1.488 MPa Nacl处理0—96小时的历程中,碱蓬对Nacl没有响应或反应较小,在1.984MPa高胁迫浓度下则产生明显反应,但在等渗实验浓度范围内对PEG的反应较大。牧豆树则相反。用三种自由基清除剂进行预处理,可降低Nacl和PEG所引起的MDA含量的增加,而用SOD抑制剂预处理,则提高Nacl和PEG诱导的MDA含量。显然,SOD活性降低,MDA含量增加与质膜损伤有关,自由基确实参与盐害。就盐分和水分胁迫对细胞膜完整性的效应而论,这两种胁迫具有一种共同的伤害机理。
