Neuroprotection by misoprostol against rotenone-induced neurotoxicity in rat brain

objective: To investigate the effect of the prostaglandin e1 analogue misoprostol on oxidative stress and neurodegeration caused by subcutaneous rotenone administration in rats. Methods:Rotenone was administered in a dose of 1.5 mg/kg every other day for 2 weeks. Starting from the 1 st day of rotenone injection, rats were subcutaneously treated with misoprostol at doses of10, 100 or 1 000 μg/kg. Rats were evaluated for brain lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde:MDA), reduced glutathione(GSH), nitric oxide(No) levels, and paraoxonase-1(PoN-1) *** concentrations of the anti-apoptotic protein B cell/lymphoma-2(Bcl-2) were determined in the striatum. Histopathologic examination and the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNoS) in the cerebral cortex and striatum were also performed. Results: Compared with the vehicle-treated group, rotenone caused a significant increase in brain lipid proxidation(MDA)by 61%(Pompanied by an increase in No by 73.1%(Pecrease in GSH concentration by 29.4%(Pon, brain PoN-1 activity significantly decreased by63.0%(Pecreased by 27.9%(Pespect to the corresponding control value. Brain sections from rotenone treated rats showed extensive dark pyknotic and apoptotic nuclei in neurons, shrunken cytoplasm and perineuronal *** also caused pronounced expression of iNoS in the cerebral cortex and *** with misoprostol at doses of 100 and 1 000 μg/kg resulted in decreased brain MDA(by 16.5%-23.0%)(Po levels(by 37.1%-40.7%)(Peased GSH concentrations(by 18.8%-30.1%)(PoN-1 activity was significantly increased by80.0%-114.8%(Poprostol at 100 and 1 000 μg/kg, respectively. In addition,misoprostol treatment restored striatal Bcl-2 concentrations to its normal value. AIM:To determine the efficacy and success of percutaneous aspiration irrigation and reaspiration(PAIR) in the management of hepatic ***:Twenty-six patients with 32 hepatic hydatid cysts had ***-two patients received at least 2 wk of drug therapy before the procedure was carried out to reduce the risk of recurrence from spillage during the *** procedure was performed under local anesthesia with a 19-gauge 20 cm long needle,the cyst was punctured,cystic content(approximately 30 mL) was aspirated by a 12-14 F pigtail catheter and aspirated fluids were sent for *** the cyst was almost empty,two-thirds of the net amount of material aspirated was replaced by hypertonic saline and left in the cavity for about 30 min,with the catheter left in place for reaspiration of most of the *** the amount of fluid drained was less than 10 mL per 24 h,the drainage catheter was ***:All 32 cysts showed evidence of immediate collapse after completion of the procedure,and before discharge from hospital,ultrasound examination showed fluid reaccumulation in all *** follow-up showed a progressive decrease in the size and change in the appearance of *** confirm the sterility of these cystic cavities,seven cysts were reaspirated on average 3 mo after the *** revealed no viable ***:PAIR using hypertonic saline is very effective and safe with proper precautions.

Beamforming in stand-alone Millimeter-Wave(mmWave)communications results in prolonged access times and latencies due to the increased number of measurements required to determine the optimal beam directions at the Mobile Station(MS)and Base Station(BS),returning the highest received signal ***,dynamic and fast access schemes that meet the Third-Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)specifications are required ***,in this paper,a novel initial access scheme is proposed for multiple MS users by leveraging for the first time a digital compass in the access ***,when a new MS joins the footprint of a BS,it probes the channel for beacon signaling about the BS direction,i.e.,broadcasted by a neighboring MS that completed beam association at previous time ***,a digital compass is utilized to adjust the coordinates of the BS according to the location of the new *** proposed scheme is applied for a single and multi-user settings at various broadcasting *** includes a single associated MS user that broadcasts information to a single incoming MS user,a single user that broadcasts signals to multiple incoming users,or all multiple associated users broadcast to multiple incoming ***,the proposed schemes yield in notable efficiency in terms of the computational complexity,access times,power and energy consumption as compared to existing access ***,high success rates are achieved at the detriment of relatively higher cost.

The lithium polysulfide shuttle and sluggish sulfur reaction kinetics still pose significant challenges to lithium-sulfur(Li-S)*** functional plane of Fe-MoSe_(2)@r Go nanohybrid with abundant defects has been designed and applied in Li-S batteries to develop the functional separator and multi-layer sulfur *** cell with a functional separator exhibits a retention capacity of 462 m Ah g^(-1)after the 1000th at 0.5 C and 516 m Ah g^(-1)after the 600th at 0.3 *** at low electrolyte conditions(7.0μL_(mgsulfur)^(-1)and 15μL_(mgsulfur)^(-1))under high sulfur loadings(3.46 mg cm^(-2)and 3.73 mg cm^(-2)),the cell still presents high reversible discharge capacities 679 and 762 m Ah g^(-1)after 70 cycles,***,at sulfur loadings up to 8.26 and 5.2 mg cm^(-2),the cells assembled with the bi-layers sulfur cathode and the tri-layers sulfur cathode give reversible capacities of 3.3 m Ah cm^(-2)after the 100th cycle and 3.0 m Ah cm^(-2)after the 120th cycle,*** research not only demonstrates that the FeMoSe_(2)@r Go functional plane is successfully designed and applied in Li-S batteries with superior electrochemical performances but also paves the novel way for developing a unique multi-layer cathode technique to enhance and advance the electrochemical behavior of Li-S cells at a high-sulfur-loading cathode under lean electrolyte/sulfur(e/S)ratio.

An investigation has been carried out to compare th e cutting performance and tool life evaluation of high speed steel broach samp les. The comparison has been done between conventional M2 and Anti-Segregation Process (ASP) ASP53 and ASP30 high speed steel broach samples. The ASP53 was a development material. The cutting performance was evaluated by measuring the c utting forces and calculating the specific cutting energy, an indicator of cutti ng performance. As the roughness of the machined surface is an important criter ion in the evaluation of performance of a tool, the surface roughness of the workpiece was studied as a function of undeformed chip thickness. The workpiec e material was 150M36 alloy steel used in manufacture of automobile engines. Th e performance tests were conducted at two cutting speeds, which were 0 7 m/min and 10.5 m/min respectively. This allowed a better understanding of the effect of cutting speed on tool performance. The wear tests were performed at a cuttin g speed on 10.5 m/min. The cutting edges of ASP broach samples were finer compared to that of M2. Ther e was no practical difference in the cutting forces and the specific cutting ene rgy while cutting with MS, ASP30 and ASP53 broach samples. The ASP30 and ASP53 tools have a better surface roughness on the machined surface than that of M2 at both cutting speeds. The ASP30 gave 2.25 times the life and an improved surfac e finish compared to M2 steel. The ASP53 gave 1.3 times the life of M2 steel. These results should prove useful to the tool designer and manufacturing enginee r.

Aqueous solutions of azo dyes undergo degradation to form harmless intermediates and colorless products following irradiation by visible light in the presence of titanium dioxide thin films. The dyes that were studied in this work are： Chicago Sky Blue 6B and Benzopurpurin 4B. Results obtained indicated that complete mineralization of the dyes took place under the experimental conditions. There was an increase in conductivity after the complete mineralization experiments possibly indicating the formation of ions such as No3^- and So4^2-. Chemical oxygen demand（CoD） measurements show a decrease in organic matter for both dyes following complete degradation. The effect of how changing experimental conditions such as pH, temperature and starting concentrations of dyes affected the rate of dye degradation was measured. There was an increase in the rate of disappearance of the dye color at lower pH. High concentrations of dye solutions reauired Iona dearadation time.
