Effect of crocin carotenoid on BDNF and CREB gene expression in brain ventral tegmental area of morphine treated rats

Objective: To investigate the effect of crocin carotenoid on BNDF and CREB gene expression in the brain ventral tegmental area(VTA) and the serum level of BDNF in morphine-treated rats compared to control. Methods: In this study, 40 male Wistar rats(200-250 g) were used in 5 experimental groups: 1) non morphine treat rats(control); 2) non morphine-treated rats with 25 mg/kg crocin carotenoid(i.p., for 21 d); 3) morphine treated rats(10 mg/kg twice a day, s.c., 21 d); 4 and 5) morphine-treated rats with 12.5 and 25 mg/kg crocin carotenoid, respectively. By the end of research, BDNF and CREB expression was determined by real-time-PCR method. ELISA analysis was also applied for assessing the serum BDNF level. Results: The data indicated that morphine treatment could cause a significant decrease in BDNF and CREB gene expression(P<0.01 and P<0.001, respectively) in brain VTA as well as serum level of BDNF(P<0.01) in comparison to control group. Treatment with 25 mg/kg crocin carotenoid caused a significant enhancement in BDNF and CREF gene expression(P<0.01 and P<0.05, respectively) and serum level of BDNF(P<0.01) in morphine-treated rats in comparison to morphine-treated group. Conclusions: Regarding to obtained results, crocin carotenoid can inhibit unfavorable effects of morphine on the neural system to some extent through enhancing BDNF and CREB gene expression in brain VTA and serum level of BDNF.

目的:分析2009-2016年间伊朗传统医学使用及家庭费用支出情况的影响因素。方法:基于伊朗家庭收入和支出调查(HIES),采用伪面板数据的Tobit模型分析家庭收入、家庭财富等级、家庭规模、男性数量、识字成员数量、家庭成员平均年龄对传统医学使用及经费支出的影响。结果:研究结果表明,越富裕的家庭使用传统医学的频率越高;受教育程度越高的家庭成员越倾向于使用传统医学。家庭收入与传统医学的使用及经费支出情况呈正相关。结论:调查结果显示,伊朗对传统医学的使用率低于亚洲地区平均水平,但经济水平越高的家庭对传统草药的消耗量越大。

Mercury(II) is an important factor in hepatotoxicity that can enter the body through marine diets and *** the present study,the protective effect of the Eriobotrya japonica flower extract(EJFE) on HgCl 2-induced hepatotoxicity was *** mg/kg of mercuric chloride in drinking water was given to rats either with saline or EJFE(100 and 200 mg/kg as intraperitoneal(IP)) for 30 *** mercury levels in different groups of liver tissues of the rats were measured with flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy(F-AAS).Also,mercury accumulation in the liver of the rats was modeled by using a parallel chemical kinetic *** results showed that HgCl 2-induced oxidative damage led to a significant decrease in glutathione(GSH) and the total antioxidant capacity(TAC) levels,and to a significant increase in lipid peroxidation *** mercury was 14.47% more in the livers of the stress groups than in those of the control groups(P<0.001),whereas the amount of Hg was adjusted to 13.49% and 13.93% in groups treated with 100 and 200 mg/kg of EJFE respectively,as compared with stress groups(P<0.001).HPLC analysis of EJFE revealed that hesperetin and gallic acid are the major antioxidants in *** demonstrate that flowers of the Eriobotrya japonica cause a significant protection against HgCl 2 induced hepatotoxicity in all diagnostic parameters by strengthening the antioxidant defense mechanisms and they may have a therapeutic function in free radical mediated diseases.

Polyurethane foam as the most well-known absorbent materials has a suitable absorption coefficient only within a limited frequency *** aim of this study was to improve the sound absorption coefficient of flexible polyurethane(PU)foam within the range of various frequencies using clay nanoparticles,polyacrylonitrile nanofibers,and polyvinylidene fluoride *** response surface method was used to determine the effect of addition of nanofibers of PAN and PVDF,addition of clay nanoparticles,absorbent thickness,and air gap on the sound absorption coefficient of flexible polyurethane foam(PU)across different frequency *** absorption coefficient of the samples was measured using Impedance Tubes *** clay at low thicknesses as well as polyacrylonitrile nanofibers and polyvinyl fluoride nanofibers at higher thicknesses had a greater positive effect on absorption *** mean sound absorption coefficient in the composite with the highest absorption coefficient at middle and high frequencies was 0.798 and 0.75,*** comparison with pure polyurethane foam with the same thickness and air gap,these values were 2.22 times at the middle frequencies and 1.47 times at high frequencies,*** porosity rose with increasing nano clay,but decreased with increasing polyacrylonitrile nanofibers and polyvinyl fluoride *** results indicated that the absorption coefficient was elevated with increasing the thickness and air *** study suggests that the use of a combination of nanoparticles and nanofibers can enhance the acoustic properties of flexible polyurethane foam.

Bayesian adjustment for over-estimation and under-estimation of gastric cancer incidence across Iranian provinces

AIM To correct the misclassification in registered gastric cancer incidence across Iranian provinces in cancer registry data. METHODS Gastric cancer data is extracted from Iranian annual of national cancer registration report 2008. A Bayesian method with beta prior is implemented to estimate the rate of misclassification in registering patient'spermanent residence in neighboring province. Each time two neighboring provinces with lower and higher than 100% expected coverage of cancer cases are selected to be entered in the model. The expected coverage of cancerous patient is reported by medical university of each province. It is assumed that some cancer cases from a province with a lower than 100% expected coverage are registered in their neighboring province with more than 100% expected coverage. RESULTS The condition was true for 21 provinces from a total of 30 provinces of Iran. It was estimated that 43% of gastric cancer cases of North and South Khorasan provinces in north-east of Iran was registered in Razavi Khorasan as the neighboring facilitate province; also 72% misclassification was estimated between Sistan and balochestan province and Razavi Khorasan. The misclassification rate was estimated to be 36% between West Azerbaijan province and East Azerbaijan province, 21% between Ardebil province and East Azerbaijan, 63% between Hormozgan province and Fars province, 8% between Chaharmahal and bakhtyari province and Isfahan province, 8% between Kogiloye and boyerahmad province and Isfahan, 43% Golestan province and Mazandaran province, 54% between Bushehr province and Khozestan province, 26% between Ilam province and Khuzestan province, 32% between Qazvin province and Tehran province(capital of Iran), 43% between Markazi province and Tehran, and 37% between Qom province and Tehran. CONCLUSION Policy makers should consider the regional misclassification in the time of programming for cancer control, prevention and resource allocation.

Bayesian adjustment of gastric cancer mortality rate in the presence of misclassification

AIM To correct for misclassification error in registering causes of death in Iran death registry using Bayesian *** National death statistic from 2006 to 2010 for gastric cancer which reported annually by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education included in this study. To correct the rate of gastric cancer mortality with reassigning the deaths due to gastric cancer that registered as cancer without detail, a Bayesian method was implemented with Poisson count regression and beta prior for misclassified parameter, assuming 20% misclassification in registering causes of death in *** Registered mortality due to gastric cancer from 2006 to 2010 was considered in this study. According to the Bayesian re-estimate, about 3%-7% of deaths due to gastric cancer have registered as cancer without mentioning details. It makes an undercount of gastric cancer mortality in Iranian population. The number and age standardized rate of gastric cancer death is estimated to be 5805(10.17 per 100000 populations), 5862(10.51 per 100000 populations), 5731(10.23 per 100000 populations), 5946(10.44 per 100000 populations), and 6002(10.35 per 100000 populations), respectively for years 2006 to *** There is an undercount in gastric cancer mortality in Iranian registered data that researchers and authorities should notice that in sequential estimations and policy making.

Morphometric Assessment of Meandering River in Arid Region Using Improvement Model (Case Study: Maroon River)

To understand the natural environments of drylands, deserts, arid and semi-arid regions of the earth is to understand the processes and forms of their rivers. One of the river studies and fluvial processes are morphometry analyses. The channel forms in an alluvial plain reflecting the movement of water and the particle size of the load flowing down the channel. The dynamics of channel change has led to conflict with human resource development. Three basic channel patterns are detected in the region. They are braided, meandering and straight. In this research for assessment of meandering Maroon River, we used DEM (Digital Elevation System), Topography maps, Arc GIS software, Google earth, field work and library studies and mathematic formula. The two general indices for analyzing meandering patterns are 1) sinuosity coefficient 2) central angle. In this paper, the authors were used these factors and improved them. One of the results is creation of direction index and the second result is the Maroon River which has a type of sinuosity in any reach.

The effect of aerobic training on endothelium-dependent vasodilatation in patients with coronary artery disease who were revascularized and young men

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of training on endothelium-dependent vasodilatation in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) after revascularization and healthy young men. Background: Impaired endothelial function has been observed in patients with CAD and those with CAD risk factors. Studies have shown that exercise can enhance endothelial function. Methods: This experimental cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with CAD (3 months after CABG and PCI) and students of medical school in 2011. Endothelium dependent dilation of the brachial artery was determined by using high-resolution vascular ultrasonography through flow-mediated vasodilatation (FMD) after induction of ischemia, and the data were analyzed using SPSS, dependent t-test and ANCOVA. Findings: The findings showed that at baseline, FMD was reduced in revascularized patients, when compared with healthy young men, after 8 weeks, and exercise training significantly improved FMD in patients underwent training group [from 4.31 ± 1.45 (SD)% to 6.15 ± 0.773 (SD)%, p p ed unchanged, and even after aerobic training, it did not significantly modify the brachial artery diameter in these groups. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that endothelial dysfunction persisting in CAD patients after revascularization and aerobic training can improve endothelial function in different vascular beds in CAD patients and healthy young men. This may contribute to the benefit of regular exercise in preventing and restricting cardiovascular disease.
