Occurrence,seasonal variation and human exposure to pharmaceuticals and personal care products in surface water,groundwater and drinking water in Lagos State,Nigeria

The occurrence of 28 pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)was investigated in 17 surface water samples(rivers,canals,and lagoons),12 groundwater samples(wells and boreholes,which can also be consumed for drinking)and 8 drinking water samples(bottles and sachets)during dry and rainy seasons in Lagos state,*** most prevalent compound detected in all samples was amoxicillin(an antibiotic)at median concentrations of 1614,238 and 358 ng/L in surface water,ground water and drinking water,*** is of concern due to potential impact on development of antibioticresistant microbial *** frequently-detected compounds include acetaminophen,nicotine,ibuprofen,and codeine with detection frequencies of more than 70%.Investigation of seasonal variability revealed that glyburide,caffeine,naproxen and diclofenac concentrations were significantly(P<0.05)higher during the dry season(winter),while Nicotine and Codeine levels were higher during the rainy season(summer).The factors influencing such seasonal variability include:dilution by extensive rainfall,agricultural activity(for nicotine)and usage patterns of pharmaceuticals among the local *** concentrations in drinking water samples were used to assess inadvertent human exposure to PPCPs in Nigerian *** revealed average daily exposures of 81,14 and 3 ngƩPPCPs/kg BW/day via drinking borehole,sachet water and bottled water,*** there exists no health-based limit value(HBLV)for chronic exposure to mixtures of PPCPs,our results raise concern and warrant further investigation of the potential health implications of such unintended PPCPs exposure.

Classification of Big Data Security Based on Ontology Web Language

A vast amount of data (known as big data) may now be collected and stored from a variety of data sources, including event logs, the internet, smartphones, databases, sensors, cloud computing, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The term “big data security” refers to all the safeguards and instruments used to protect both the data and analytics processes against intrusions, theft, and other hostile actions that could endanger or adversely influence them. Beyond being a high-value and desirable target, protecting Big Data has particular difficulties. Big Data security does not fundamentally differ from conventional data security. Big Data security issues are caused by extraneous distinctions rather than fundamental ones. This study meticulously outlines the numerous security difficulties Large Data analytics now faces and encourages additional joint research for reducing both big data security challenges utilizing Ontology Web Language (OWL). Although we focus on the Security Challenges of Big Data in this essay, we will also briefly cover the broader Challenges of Big Data. The proposed classification of Big Data security based on ontology web language resulting from the protégé software has 32 classes and 45 subclasses.

Prevalence of Iron Deficiency Anemia among Moroccan Pregnant Women

Background: Iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women is a serious public health problem, especially in developing countries. Aim: The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia and its associated factors during pregnancy in the south of Morocco. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried in the regional Hospital Center Hassan II (RHC) from April to august 2021 in all the pregnant women coming for consultation in the maternity service. 500 pregnant women were randomly recruited for the study. A complete blood count and serum ferritin was performed in every case. They have been the subjects of a questionnaire containing their background and health data. The analysis of our data was done by the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. Results: The prevalence of iron deficiency anemia was 20% with a CI of (44.7% - 53.5%). The most affected age group was 25 to 35 years with a rate of 42.86%. The majority of women had mild anemia (84.61%) followed by moderate anemia (11.54%) and severe anemia (3.85%). 57.14% of the anemic pregnant women were primigravida. The results of serum ferritin made it possible to identify 70% of women deficient, with a dominance of normocytic normochromic anemia. The influence of geographic origin and place of birth was not significant. Conclusion: The prevalence of iron deficiency anemia is more or less low in our study. However, there is a high prevalence of iron deficiency and anemia during pregnancy. Statistically, there was no significant association between iron deficiency anemia and the various parameters studied, such as age, parity, origin and place of birth.

Monitoring of Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. and Staphylococci in Poultry Meat-Based Fast Food in Saudi Arabia

An investigation was made to survey the possible presence of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. from fast-food shops in Al-Ahsa Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), as potential reservoir of human infection and antimicrobial resistance. A total of 100 samples of shawarma poultry meat were collected from different localities of the province. Conventional, commercial VITEK 2 and molecular techniques were used for isolates’ identification and antibiogram detection. Staph aureus was isolated at a rate of 14% and CNS as Staph. sciuri and Staph. xylosus at 2%. E. coli was identified at a rate of 12% and antibiogram analysis showed 41.67% of isolates to be extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) with evidence of multi-drug resistance (MDR). Molecular analysis of E. coli revealed presence of sero-groups O1 and O2, entero-toxigenic (ETEC), shiga-toxigenic, ST540 and the prototypical ETEC strain H10407 which are potential public health hazard. Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis showed 19% prevalence while S. Typhimurium with 8% prevalence. Anti-microbial sensitivity of 15 strains of S. Enteritidis and 5 strains of S. Typhimurium showed multi-drug resistance (MDR).

Bird Habitats in Urban Environments: A Case from an Urban Landfill in and around Tayba Al Hasanab Landfill, Khartoum, Sudan

Managed open landfill sites can serve as crucial feeding grounds for birds. Studies have demonstrated that garbage dumps offer favorable feeding habitats for various trophic generalist species, including storks and scavenger raptors. This study aimed to assess bird diversity and abundance in and around Tayba Al Hasanab Landfill, Khartoum. A bird census was conducted using block counts in January 2021. A questionnaire complemented field observations, and interviews were conducted with landfill authorities and waste collectors to gather information on bird availability, numbers, and diversity. During the block counts, 23 bird species were recorded inside and around the landfill. These species directly relied on food resources available at and around the landfill, belonging to 8 orders and 11 families. The four most abundant species foraging at the landfill were Sparrow House (Passer domesticus) with 97 individuals, Black kite (Milvus migrans) with 67 individuals, cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) with 42 individuals, and Laughing Dove (Spilopelia senegalensis) with 36 individuals. This suggests that these species are the primary exploiters of food resources at the landfill. The results indicate that all species are considered least concerned except the Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus), which is classified as endangered. Most of the interviewed individuals reported seeing birds in the study area. The study recorded instances of dead birds, such as a white stork colliding and being electrocuted with a transition line observed at different sites along transmission lines near the landfill. Surveys around Tayba landfill need to be conducted to identify deadly power lines for replacement or implement possible mitigation measures on power lines running parallel and close to the Tayba landfills. Predictors of graft function and survival in second kidney transplantation: A single center experience

BACKGROUND The increasing kidney retransplantation rate has created a parallel field of research,including the risk factors and outcomes of this advanced form of renal replacement *** presentation of experiences from different kidney transplantation centers may help enrich the literature on kidney retransplantation,as a specific topic in the field of kidney *** To identify the risk factors affecting primary graft function and graft survival rates after second kidney transplantation(SKT).METHODS The records of SKT cases performed between January 1977 and December 2014 at a European tertiary-level kidney transplantation center were retrospectively reviewed and *** the descriptive characteristics,the survivals of patients and both the first and second grafts were described using Kaplan-Meier *** addition,Kaplan-Meier analyses were also used to estimate the survival probabilities at 1,3,5,and 10 post-operative years,as well as at the longest followup duration ***,bivariate associations between various predictors and the categorical outcomes were assessed,using the suitable biostatistical tests,according to the predictor *** Out of 1861 cases of kidney transplantation,only 48 cases with SKT were eligible for studying,including 33 men and 15 women with a mean age of 42.1±13 *** primary non-function(PNF)graft occurred in five patients(10.4%).In bivariate analyses,a high body mass index(P=0.009)and first graft loss due to acute rejection(P=0.025)were the only significant predictors of PNF *** second graft survival was reduced by delayed graft function in the first(P=0.008)and second(P<0.001)***,the effect of acute rejection within the first year after the first transplant did not reach the threshold of significance(P=0.053).The mean follow-up period was 59.8±48.6 *** graft/patient survival rates at 1,3,5 and 10 years were 90.5%/97.9%,79.9%/95.6%,73.7%/91.9%,and 51.6%/83.0%,respe

Severity of Coronary Artery Disease by Coronary CT Angiography in Relation to Left Ventricular Diastolic Function

Objectives:?The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between severity of CAD by coronary mutlislice computed tomography scan and the degree of diastolic function Methods:?The study consisted of 80 patients who underwent both coronary CTA and TTE within 1 year with no identifiable intervening cardiovascular event in National?Heart?Institute and Menoufia?University?Hospitals. All patients were subjected to detailed medical history, physical examination, full electrocardiography study including tissue Doppler imaging on mitral annulus, MSCT coronary angiography and different laboratory investigation as CBC, creatinine, lipid profile. Results:?From 80 patients who have done both echocardiography examination and MSCT coronary angiography, the CT scan results were 38 patients with non-obstructive coronary artery disease and 42 patients with obstructive CAD, higher number of patients with diastolic dysfunction with higher values of E/E’, medial e’, lateral e’, LAVI (left atrial volume index) and TRV (tricuspid regurge velocity) were found in the group with obstructive coronary artery disease.?Conclusion:?Our study showed that diastolic dysfunction is more prevalent in patients with obstructive coronary artery disease with higher grade of diastolic dysfunction.

量子非定域性通常是指复合量子系统各子系统之间的相关性,包括Bell非局域性、可导引性、量子纠缠和量子失协。众所周知,这些类型的量子非定域性是量子通信、量子计算和量子信息处理的重要资源,因而成为量子信息领域研究的热点课题。本文提出并研究了多体量子态的部分可导引性和部分非局域性,得到了检测多体量子态的可导引性和Bell非局域性的新方法。在第一章中,介绍了一些基本概念,例如量子系统、状态空间、量子态、密度算子、偏迹运算、POVM测量等。在第二章中,利用第i个子系统上的正算子值测量组合,引入了多体量子态从i到j的不可导引性与可导引性概念,称其为部分不可导引性与部分可导引性;建立了一个量子态从i到j不可导引的必要条件,进而得到了量子态从i到j可导引的充分条件。在第三章中,利用第i个及第j个子系统上的正算子值测量组合,引入了多体量子态的（i,j）-Bell局域性与（i,j）-Bell非局域性的概念,称其为部分Bell局域性与部分Bell非局域性;证明了量子态为（i,j）-Bell局域的必要条件,建立了一个量子态为（i,j）-Bell非局域的充分条件。在第四章中,对本文所取得的研究成果进行总结,并对未来的研究进行了展望。

偏转板射流伺服阀先导级的流场特性对偏转板射流伺服阀的输出特性具有重要影响。由于伺服阀的重要性,需要对其进行更多的研究,因为它们在火箭、飞机、船舶和液压机器人等许多工程应用中都有应用。偏转板喷嘴附近的流场分布影响着阀门的性能甚至整个系统的性能。偏转板射流先导级的压力振荡是常见的,会引起气穴,从而引起高频噪声和伺服阀振动。本课题利用计算机辅助软件建立了伺服阀偏转板射流先导级三维流场的几何模型。供给端口、放大器和接收端口是几何体中受流体流动影响的核心部分,除了求解时间外,还提取了其他部分以节省工作量并简化网格划分过程。大涡模拟（LES）用于模拟压力振荡现象,以及气穴模型（流体体积）来捕捉在1-24MPa不同进口压力下的非定常气穴动力学。本课题对整个流场中的汽体体积分数进行了随时间变化的监测,以便在气穴影响流场不稳定性的情况下,观察气穴率以及沿偏转板射流伺服阀先导级的时间变化。利用监测点捕捉不同进口压力下压力随时间的振荡,研究了高波动区流场的动态特性和压力波动。此外,还对改善偏转板射流伺服阀的流场特性进行了一些尝试。分析了0.52mm和0.6mm偏转板进口宽度变化的影响,并与标准进口偏转板宽度0.56mm进行了比较。此外,还研究了0.56mm、0.6mm和0.68mm三种不同的射流喷嘴长度,并与0.64mm的基本长度进行了比较。研究了DJSV结构中改变射流喷嘴长度为0.39mm和0.27mm的影响,并与0.33mm的基本长度进行了比较。由于分流楔的锐边会引起回流和能量损失,因此将分流楔的形状改为曲边,并研究了其对偏转射流伺服阀性能的影响。在24MPa压力下,采用不同的出口压力和相同的边界条件,分析了出口压力变化的影响。结果表明,将得到的FFT数据与气穴结果和研究的流场分布联系起来,可以得出这样的结论:偏转板引射段的压力振荡是气穴产生的主要原因之一,并且高度依赖于进口压力,不同密度的偏转板射流伺服阀在不同区域会产生气穴现象。结构优化也有助于减少偏转板射流先导级的气穴和压力振荡。

Organophosphate esters in indoor and outdoor dust from Iraq:Implications for human exposure

Concentrations of 6 organophosphate esters(OPEs)were determined in 60 indoor(ID)and outdoor(OD)dust samples collected from 20 homes from Basrah,*** each home,two ID samples were collected,one from elevated surfaces(ESD)and one from the floor(FD)of the living room;while the OD samples were collected from the front yard of the same *** S6OPEs concentrations in dust samples ranged between 681 and 17900 ng/g with median concentrations of 5950,3590 and 1550 ng/g in ESD,FD and OD samples,*** OPEs were the most abundant compounds,contributing mean percentages of 88%,85%and 78%toΣ_(6)OPEs in ESD,FD and OD,respectively,with tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TCIPP)*** of our target OPEs in ESD significantly exceeded those in FD(p<0.05)for tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate(TCEP)and tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TDCIPP).Ratios of median concentrations of OPEs in ID:OD ranged from 1.5 for tri-n-butyl phosphate(TNBP)to 8.0 for TCEP,indicating the significance of indoor *** of chlorinated OPEs in ID were moderately correlated(R=0.522-0.591,P<0.05)with those in OD samples,suggesting interchange of OPEs between the two *** of OPEs in OD from houses with a contiguous front yard car porch exceeded those in OD from houses without a car porch and were significantly higher(P<0.05)for TCEP,TCIPP and 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate(EHDPP).Emissions from parked cars and the associated home are likely sources of OPEs in the OD *** on the concentrations reported here,the estimated daily intake(EDI)for the Iraqi population through house dust ingestion are all well below the relevant reference dose(RfD)values.
