Background:The metabolic syndrome is a consequence of modern lifestyle that causes synaptic insulin resistance and cognitive deficits and that in interaction with a high amyloid load is an important risk factor for Alzheimer’s *** has been proposed that neuroinflammation might be an intervening variable,but the underlying mechanisms are currently ***:We utilized primary neurons to induce synaptic insulin resistance as well as a mouse model of high-risk aging that includes a high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and diet-induced obesity to test hypotheses on underly-ing ***:We found that neddylation and subsequent activation of cullin-RING ligase complexes induced synaptic insulin resistance through ubiquitylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate IRS1 that organizes synap-tic insulin ***,inhibition of neddylation preserved synaptic insulin signaling and rescued memory deficits in mice with a high amyloid load,which were fed with a’western diet’.Conclusions:Collectively,the data suggest that neddylation and degradation of the insulin-receptor substrate is a nodal point that links high amyloid load,neuroinflammation,and synaptic insulin resistance to cognitive decline and impaired synaptic plasticity in high-risk aging.

Intrabony Schwannoma of the Mandible: Case Report and Review of Literature

This paper focuses on the case of intrabony mandibular schwannoma in a 39 yrs healthy male who was addressed by his dentist for an asymptomatic radiolucency of the left mandibular corpus. Computed Tomography Dentascan showed a soft tumour continuous to the path of the inferior alveolar nerve. Confirmation was made after surgical excision and careful histological examination. Radiolucent images of the mandible are frequently met by dentists and oro-facial surgeons, and suggest first odontogenic cysts because of their high frequency. But even if sheath nerve tumours are very rare, this case report reminds the necessity to keep them in mind.

领导力是管理的一项基本职能,它支持组织优化效率并实现既定目标。能够影响从领导者到追随者的共同目标,是员工对组织承诺的基石。本文旨在探讨索马里私人医疗背景下的领导风格（转型与交易）与员工承诺之间的关系。为实现这一目标,本研究采用了两个独立的工具,即多因素领导调查表（MLQ）和组织承诺问卷（OCQ）,以衡量领导风格和员工的组织承诺分别。为了分析这种关系的多元回归,采用了皮尔逊相关矩阵和描述性统计。研究结果显示,领导风格与员工承诺之间存在着积极而显著的关系。此外,研究结果表明,与事务性领导相比,转型型领导对员工承诺的影响更大。尽管研究结果表明,转型型领导对员工承诺的影响大于对交易型领导的影响,但员工认为自己的领导能力没有"理想"水平的转型领导行为。结果进一步表明,转型型领导对情感承诺和持续承诺有积极而显著的影响,但与规范承诺没有显著关系。交易领导的结果表明,规范承诺是积极而重要的关系,但对情感承诺和持续承诺都没有显著影响。这项研究为索马里私营医疗部门和学术研究人员提供了建议,以优化实施转型领导风格,提高员工的工作绩效和组织承诺。这是因为转型型领导风格比交易领导者更有效地实现了更高的承诺水平,并对员工的决策产生了重大影响,他们希望、需要或应该保持在当前状态组织。

Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Antimicrobial Activity of (e)-ethyl-4-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2<i>H</i>)-ylideneamino) benzoate

A Schiff base, (e)-ethyl-4-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2H)-ylideneamino)benzoate, (e4AB) had been synthesized in good yield by the acid-catalyzed condensation reaction of acenaphthenequinone and ethyl-4-aminobenzoate in methanolic solution. The synthesized compound was elucidated by elemental analysis (CHN), FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. e4AB crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/c, Z = 4, V = 1569.3(2) ?3 and unit cell parameters a = 9.1589(8) , b = 21.2003(17)?, c =8.4502(7) ?, β= 106.972(2)°. The crystal structure of the compound is stabilized by intermolecular C-H···O hydrogen bonds and weak intermolecular π···π interactions. The title compound had been tested for the antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), enterobacter and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense (Foc) by disc-diffusion method. e4AB is relatively active against Foc which is a pathogen that cause Wilt disease (also well known as Panama disease) in banana plantation.

The effect of Replacement of Zn ²⁺ Cation with Ni ²⁺ Cation on the Structural Properties of Ba sub>2Zn sub>1–x Ni sub>xWO sub>6 Double Perovskite Oxides (X = 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1)

The Ba2Zn1-xNixWO6 double perovskite oxides were synthesized using solid state reaction method. The effect of replacement of Zn2+ with Ni2+ cation on the structural properties was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) at room temperature. From the X-ray diffraction and by means of standard Rietiveld method, the samples showed the same cubic crystal structure with (Fm-3m) space group and the crystallite size ranging from 71.91 nm to 148.71 nm. The unit cell volume was found to decrease as a result of the replacement, while there was no significant difference in the value of tolerance factor of the samples. This is may be due to the convergence of ionic radii of Ni2+ and Zn2+ cations. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was performed for the samples and the resultant characteristic absorption bands confirmed the double perovskite structure.

effects of Nigella sativa on outcome of hepatitis C in egypt

AIM: To evaluate the safety, efficacy and tolerability of Nigella sativa (N. sativa ) in patients with hepatitis C not eligible for interferon (IFN)-α. MeTHODS: Thirty patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, who were not eligible for IFN/ribavirin therapy, were included in the present study. Inclusion criteria included: patients with HCV with or without cirrhosis, who had a contraindication to IFN-α therapy, or had refused or had a financial constraint to IFN-α therapy. exclusion criteria included: patients on IFN-α therapy, infection with hepatitis B or hepatitis Ⅰ virus, hepatocellular carcinoma, other malignancies, major severe illness, or treatment non-compliance. Various parameters, including clinical parameters, complete blood count, liver function, renal function, plasma glucose, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), and polymerase chain reaction, were all assessed at baseline and at the end of the study. Clinical assessment included: hepato and/ or splenomegaly, jaundice, palmar erythema, flapping tremors, spider naevi, lower-limb edema, and ascites. N. sativa was administered for three successive months at a dose of (450 mg three times daily). Clinical response and incidence of adverse drug reactions were assessed initially, periodically, and at the end of the study. ReSULTS: N. sativa administration significantly improved HCV viral load (380808.7 ± 610937 vs 147028.2 ± 475225.6, P = 0.001) and TAC (1.35 ± 0.5 vs 1.612 ± 0.56, P = 0.001). After N. sativa administration, the following laboratory parameters improved: total protein (7.1 ± 0.7 vs 7.5 ± 0.8, P = 0.001), albumin (3.5 ± 0.87 vs 3.69 ± 0.91, P = 0.008), red blood cell count (4.13 ± 0.9 vs 4.3 ± 0.9, P = 0.001), and platelet count (167.7 ± 91.2 vs 198.5 ± 103, P = 0.004). Fasting blood glucose (104.03 ± 43.42 vs 92.1 ± 31.34, P = 0.001) and postprandial blood glucose (143.67 ± 72.56 vs 112.1 ± 42.9, P = 0.001) were significantly decreased in both diabetic and non-diabetic HCV patients. Thalidomide is widely used in the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM). In recent years, several cases of pulmonary hypertension have been reported following treatment with thalidomide. The aim of this review was to evaluate the published literature on multiple myeloma patients with pulmonary hypertension following thalidomide treatment. A literature search was performed between 2000 and 2016. A total of 7 eligible studies were identified and deemed eligible, including 11 cases—approximately 37% (4 cases) with IgA (k), 27% (3 cases) with IgG (λ) MM, 27% (3 cases) with IgG (k) MM, and one case (9%) with primary plasma cell leukemia (PPCL). The vast majority of cases—82% (9 cases)—are associated with thalidomide, while only 18% (2 cases) are related to thalidomide derivatives (lenalidomide and pomalidomide). In conclusion, pulmonary hypertension induced by thalidomide or derivatives in multiple myeloma (MM) patients is related to a multifactorial etiology including the pathophysiology of the disease, thromboembolic events, preexisted cardiovascular conditions, comorbidities, and combination with other chemo- or bio-therapeutic agents. MM patients should be evaluated for signs and symptoms underlying cardiopulmonary disease before initiating, and during treatment with thalidomide.

食源性病原菌是导致食源性疾病的主要原因之一,现代食品工业的迅猛发展对食品中病原菌的快速检测提出了更高的要求。噬菌体作为地球上种类最丰富的微生物之一,能够侵染细菌。研究表明,噬菌体不仅具备结构简单、特异性强、价格低廉等特性,而且具有能够区分活细菌和死细菌的能力,以及容易与其他传统检测方法相结合等优势,噬菌体及其产物为食源性病原菌的检测提供了新的思路。近年来,噬菌体与免疫学、分子生物学和纳米科学等学科结合形成的新型快速检测方法已成为国际研究热点。本文就噬菌体检测食源性病原菌的原理及应用进行分类综述和分析。

Antimicrobial effect of Malaysian vegetables against enteric bacteria

Objective: To investigate the antibacterial activities of green vegetables(pennywort,mint, garlic, parsley and celery) against four common enteric bacteria [Salmonella enterica(ATCC 25957)(S. enterica), Shigella flexneri(ATCC 12022)(S. flexneri),escherichia coli(ATCC 43889)(e. coli) and enterobacter cloacae(ATCC 13047)(e. cloacae)] as an alternative medicine for controlling food borne diarrhea disease and the synergistic effect of green vegetables against those ***: Five common vegetables(pennywort, mint, garlic, parsley and celery) were purchased and extracted. The antimicrobial activities of these extracts were tested against four common enteric bacteria(S. enterica, S. flexneri, e. coli and e. cloacae). Ten different concentrations of the extracts(from 640 to 1.25 mg/m L) were prepared and used for the study. The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) was determined by the broth dilution method. The antimicrobial activities were assessed by using both well diffusion and disc diffusion ***: Garlic extract showed excellent inhibitory effects on all enteric bacteria. Other plants(parsley, celery, mint and pennywort) were not effective against enteric *** MIC of garlic against S. flexneri and e. cloacae was 40 mg/m L. The MIC of S. enterica and e. coli were 20 and 10 mg/m L, respectively. The performance of the well diffusion method was better than that of the disc diffusion method with clear and sharp inhibition zones of tested bacteria against plant ***: Garlic had excellent antimicrobial effects against enteric bacteria and was recommended to be given to patients with gastroenteritis. The other vegetables(pennywort, mint, parsley and celery) showed no inhibitory effects on enteric bacteria but still can be used for its richness in vitamins and fibers. The performance of the well diffusion method was better than that of the disc diffusion method in detecting the antibacterial effects of green vegetables.
