The purpose of this stud. is to investigate the physicochemical properties of some local varieties of onion (Allium cepa L.) and.compare them with an imported.variety, all collected.in May 2021. Proteins, red.cing sugars, lipid., and.polyphenol content were estimated.accord.ng to the AFNOR stand.rd.zed.method.. The d.termination of calcium, magnesium, iron, sod.um, potassium and.phosphorus was performed.by atomic absorption spectrophotometer coupled.with a CCd.d.tector. The results highlighted.an average acid.ty of 0.377% ± 0.002% lower than the value of the imported.variety which is 0.520% ± 0.001%. Local varieties have a pH ranging from 6.35 ± 0.003 to 6.42 ± 0.004, while the variety has a pH of 6.36 ± 0.003. The ash and.d.y matter contents vary respectively from 4.788% ± 0.004% to 8.253% ± 0.003% and.7.945% ± 0.021% to 11.945% ± 0.007% for the local varieties. Moreover, the imported.one has ash and.d.y matter contents of 5.175% ± 0.007% and.10.035% ± 0.021% respectively. The results show that the protein, red.cing sugar and.lipid.contents in the local onion varieties vary respectively from 2.815 ± 0.000 to 15.634 ± 0.001 g·100 g-1;4.691 ± 0.001 to 12.596 ± 0.002 g·100 g-1 and.0.006 ± 0.001 to 0.050 ± 0.057 g·100 g-1. Furthermore, the imported.variety has a protein, red.cing sugar and.lipid.content of 5.649 ± 0.002;8.565 ± 0.002 g·100 g-1 and.0.011 ± 0.010 g·100 g-1 respectively. The maximum levels of total polyphenols are obtained.in the imported.variety, Bellani and.Gand.ol, respectively 9.973 ± 0.001, 4.535 ± 0.002, and.3.425 ± 0.006 mg EAG/g of d.y matter. The local varieties have a significant calorific intake of between 35.451 ± 0.001 and.112.980 ± 0.003 kcal·100 g-1 compared.to the imported.one with an energy value of 56.953 ± 0.001 kcal·100 g-1 of d.y matter. Introd.ction: Infections are ad.itional factors of morbid.ty and.mortality in multiple myeloma (MM), and.the current recommend.tion is antibiotic prophylaxis. In sub-Saharan Africa, few d.ta on infectious complications of MM are available. We aim to d.scribe the microbiological features of infections in MM, and.their impact on survival in Senegalese patients. Method.: A retrospective (January 2005-January 2022), analytic, multicenter stud. on infections in patients followed.for MM (IMWG criteria) in Senegalese clinical hematology services. The socio-epid.miological, d.agnostic, microbiological, evolutionary and.survival aspects were analyzed. Results: The stud. includ.d.106 patients with multiple myeloma who had.an infection at ad.ission or d.ring the treatment. Ten patients have the comorbid.ty (hypertension, lupus, type 2 d.abetes). These patients had.136 infectious events id.ntified.at d.agnosis (79.2%) or d.ring chemotherapy (20.8%). The sites of infection are lung (42.6%), urinary (29.4%), d.rmatological (6.6%), d.gestive (5.2%), osteoarticular (4.4%), ear, nose and.throat (3.7%), central nervous system (1.5%), or without site. We record.d.26.4% of patients with multi-site infections. The causal pathogens are bacteria (Gram-negative bacilli: 22.1%;Gram positive bacilli: 9.5%, Mycobacterium tuberculosis: 13.3%), parasitique (plasmod.um falciparum 6.6%), viruses (SARS-COV2: 2.9%, VZV: 2.2%) and.fungal (2.9%). Survival was red.ced.in patients who had.an infection at the time of multiple myeloma d.agnosis (p: 0.189) and.those who had.multiple infectious foci (p: 0.011). Conclusion: Infections in multiple myeloma are more frequent at d.agnosis. The germs are varied.and.mostly bacteria, particularly gram-negative bacteria, and.Kochs bacillus. Our stud. reveals that multiple infectious foci are a poor prognosis factor. It is necessary to evaluate the infectious risk early, and.to ad.pt an antibiotic prophylaxis based.on our tropical environment.

The fruit of Morind. citrifolia L., commonly known as noni, has an extensive history of use as a food.and.trad.tional med.cine around.the world. Ad.ing value to Morind. citrifolia L. prod.cts, particularly the fruit, could.be one way of build.ng resilience in vulnerable farming household.. The aim of this stud. was to d.termine the second.ry metabolite and.mineral composition of noni juice obtained.by fermenting the fruit of Morind. citrifolia L. Fruits were collected.in August 2022 from the local field.in Thiès region, West of Senegal. Extraction yield. were d.termined.and.the second.ry metabolites were d.termined.using conventional analytical method.. Calcium, magnesium, iron, sod.um and.potassium were d.termined.by atomic absorption spectrophotometer coupled.with a CCd.d.tector. The results show that an average fruit mass (503.2 ± 110.96 g) consists of 171.44 ± 50.01 g pulp and.34.06 ± 10.35 g seed.. The trad.tional extraction yield.of noni juice is 16.46% after three weeks of fermentation. The contents of total polyphenols, flavonoid. and.tannins obtained.in noni are 608.97 ± 4.53 mg EAG/100mL, 7.78 ± 0.01 mg EQ/100mL and.0.191 ± 0.01 mg EC/100mL respectively. The ethanol content of noni varies from 3.57 to 5.23 mL/100mL d.ring extraction. Noni has a high calcium content with a concentration of 383.79 ± 33.23 mg/L. This is followed.by a good.concentration of magnesium, potassium and.sod.um, at 278.47 ± 26.30, 187.43 ± 10.7 and.155.95 ± 28.66 mg/L respectively. Noni also has an iron content of 202.15 ± 0.05 mg/L.

Most reinforced.concrete structures in seasid. locations suffer from corrosion d.mage to the reinforcement, limiting their d.rability and.necessitating costly repairs. To improve their performance and.d.rability, we have investigated.in this paper Aloe vera extracts as a green corrosion inhibitor for reinforcing steel in NaCl environments. Using electrochemical method. (zero-intensity chronopotentiometry, Tafel lines and.electrochemical imped.nce spectroscopy), this experimental work investigated.the effect of these Aloe vera (AV) extracts on corrosion inhibition of concrete reinforcing bar (HA, d.ameter 12mm) immersed.in a 0.5M NaCl solution. The results show that Aloe vera extracts have an average corrosion-inhibiting efficacy of around.86% at an optimum concentration of 20%.

Purpose: The aim is to show epid.miological, clinical and.etiological characteristics of palpebral wound.. Method.logy: This was a retrospective stud. focusing on patients with an eyelid.wound. over a 10-year period.from 2012 to 2021. We collected.and.analyzed.the d.ta using Excel. Results: The frequency of eyelid.wound. was 0.1%. The average age of our patients was 19.38 years with a range of 1 and.62 years. The sex ratio was 3.7. Eighty-one percent of patients lived.in d.kar. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of patients consulted.less than 24 hours after the trauma and.7% of patients on d.. The circumstances were brawls (11%), d.mestic accid.nts (9%), road.accid.nts (6%), and.work accid.nts (6%). We noted.1 case of d.g bite. Thirteen patients presented.with post-traumatic d.creased.visual acuity. Involvement of the isolated.upper eyelid.was noted.in 40% of cases and.both eyelid. in 15% of cases. Involvement of the lacrimal d.cts was noted.in 17% of cases, and.that of the free ed.e in 21% of cases. Eyelid.wound. were associated.with eyeball d.mage in 21% of cases. Various associated.lesions were observed. Ninety-one percent of patients received.surgical treatment. Three cases of superinfections, 1 case of conjunctival granuloma and.1 case of phthysis of the eyeball with postoperative retinal d.tachment were noted. Conclusion: Eyelid.sores are relatively common in our context. They require rapid.surgical treatment in ord.r to preserve the functional and.aesthetic prognosis. .

The d.rability of reinforced.concrete structures is greatly influenced.by the corrosion of the reinforcement. In ad.ition to air pollution related.to the repair of corrod.d.structures, chlorid. ions are the main factors of corrosion of reinforced.concrete structures. This stud. aims to valorize a clay inhibitor against reinforcement corrosion in reinforced.concrete. This clay (Attapulgite) was incorporated.into reinforced.concretes at d.fferent percentages of substitution of calcined.attapulgite (0%, 5% and.10%) to cement in the formulation. The corrosion inhibitory power of attapulgite is evaluated.in reinforced.concretes subjected.to the action of chlorid. ions at d.fferent intervals in the NaCl solution (1 d.y, 21 d.ys and.45 d.ys) by electrochemical method. (zero current chronopotentiometry, polarization curves and.electrochemical imped.nce spectroscopy). This stud. showed.that in the presence of chlorid. ions, the composition based.on 10% attapulgite has an appreciable inhibitory effect with an average inhibitory efficiency of 82%.

Metal trace elements (MTE) are among the most harmful micropollutants of natural waters. Eliminating them helps improve the quality and.safety of d.inking water and.protect human health. In this work, we used.mango kernel powd.r (MKP) as bioad.orbent material for removal of Cr (VI) from water. Uv-visible spectroscopy was used.to monitor and.quantify Cr (VI) d.ring processing using the Beer-Lambert formula. Some parameters such as pH, mango powd.r, mass and.contact time were optimized.to d.termine ad.orption capacity and.chromium removal rate. Ad.orption kinetics, equilibrium, isotherms and.thermod.namic parameters such as ΔG˚, ΔH˚, and.ΔS˚, as well as FTIR were stud.ed.to better und.rstand.the Cr (VI) removal process by MKP. The ad.orption capacity reached.94.87 mg/g, for an optimal contact time of 30 min at 298 K. The obtained.results are in accord.nce with a pseud.-second.ord.r Freund.ich ad.orption isotherm mod.l. Finally FTIR was used.to monitor the evolution of absorption band., while Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and.Energy d.spersive X-ray Spectroscopy (Ed.) were used.to evaluate surface properties and.morphology of the ad.orbent.
