BACKGROUND Relapsing polychondritis(RP)is a rare inflammatory disease involving the systemic cartilage,such as the auricle,trachea,and bronchiole,among others.A patient with RP shows variable symptoms based on the involved *** SUMMARY A 72-year-old Japanese woman with a history of redness of the bilateral auricles for 3 d was referred to a *** clinician prescribed antibiotics to the patient;however,the symptoms worsened;thus,she was referred to our *** and neck magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)showed edematous auricle with remarkable contrast,fluid collection in the bilateral mastoid cells,suggesting otitis *** eustachian tube(ET)on the right side was also edematous with contrast *** patient was suspected of RP according to the diagnostic criteria.A biopsy of the auricular cartilage was performed by an otorhinolaryngologist,confirming pathological proof of *** with steroids were immediately administered *** We highlight a rare case of RP with radiologically confirmed involvement of ET in the MRI.

Investigation on possible induction of adaptive response(AR)by high-liner energy transfer(LET)particle radiation for protection against low-LET photon radiation-induced detrimental effects has not yet been performed in *** study verified if an AR could be induced by high-LET particle radiation from accelerated heavy ions against low-LET X-ray radiation-induced detrimental effects on fetal *** body irradiation of pregnant C57BL/6J mice were performed by delivering a priming dose ranging from 10 mGy to 320 mGy of particle radiation on gestation day 11 followed one day later by a challenge dose at 3500 mGy from X-ray *** monoenergetic beams of carbon,silicon and iron with the LET values of about 15,55,and 200 KeV/μm,respectively,were *** suppression by the priming radiation of the detrimental effects(fetal death,malformation,or low body weight)was used as the endpoints for judgment of a successful AR induction on gestation day *** of AR was not *** the other hand,the priming dose of high-LET particle radiation,in some cases,even increased the detrimental effects induced by the challenge dose from low-LET X-ray *** existence of AR induced by high-LET radiation in cultured mammalian cells in vitro and in certain tissues of laboratory mice in vivo was demonstrated,the present study did not suggest that low dose of high-LET particle radiation could induce an AR in fetal mice in utero under the setup of our experimental system.

The tolerance to temperature increase was tested for Halobates individuals collected during two cruises in the western tropical Pacific Ocean （MR-06-05-Leg 3, December 21, 2006-January 12, 2007, 0°N-8°N; KH-06-02-Leg 5, August 18-31, 2006, 12°N-17°N）. High temperature coma experiments were conducted on adults and 5th instar larvae. On average, H. sericeus （distributed in the wide latitude zone of 5°N-40°N）, H. germanus （distributed in the moderate latitude zone of 0°N-35°N） and H. micans （distributed mainly in the lower latitudes around the equator） were on average paralyzed at 35.6℃（SD： 0.89）, 32.9℃ （SD： 2.17） and 31.6℃ （SD： 2.60）, respectively （P = 0.035）. According to the current dynamics during the cruise, the colony ofH. sericeus at one station （5°N 137°E） may have been transferred from the northern area of 14°N by three currents （North Equatorial Current, Mindanao Current and North Equatorial Counter Current） to the area of 5°N 138°E. Extremely high heat resistance was shown by the adults of H. germanus in the sea area around the equator. Dynamic current and air movements in this area around the equator, that is a ＂warm seawater pool＂, could be hypothesized to be related to the high resistance to heat shown in this study.

In the arid and semi-arid areas of China, rainfall and drought affect the growth and photosynthetic activities of *** primary productivity(GPP) is one of the most important indices that measure the photosynthetic ability of *** paper focused on the GPP of two representative grassland species(Stipa krylovii *** Allium polyrhizum *** Regel) to demonstrate the effect of a temporal rainfall on the two *** research was conducted in a temperate grassland in New Barag Right Banner, Hulun Buir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, in a dry year *** measured net ecosystem productivity(NEP) and ecosystem respiration flux(ER) using a transparent chamber system and monitored the photosynthetically active radiation(PAR), air and soil temperature and humidity *** on the measured values of NEP and ER, we calculated the GPP of the two species before and after the *** saturated GPP per aboveground biomass(GPPAGB) of *** remarkably increased from 0.033(±0.018) to 0.185(±0.055) μmol CO2/(gdw·s) by 5.6-fold and that of *** decreased from 0.068(±0.021) to 0.034(±0.011) μmol CO2/(gdw·s) by 0.5-fold on the 1st and 2nd d after a 9.1 mm rainfall event compared to the values before the rainfall at low temperatures below 35℃.However, on the 1st and 2nd d after the rainfall, both of the saturated GPPAGB values of *** and *** were significantly lower at high temperatures above 35℃(0.018(±0.007) and 0.110(±0.061) μmol CO2/(gdw·s), respectively) than at low temperatures below 35℃(0.034(±0.011) and 0.185(±0.055) μmol CO2/(gdw·s), respectively).The results showed that the GPP responses to the temporal rainfall differed between *** and *** and strongly negative influenced by *** temporal rainfall seems to be more effective on the GPP of *** than *** differences might be related to the different physiological and structural features, the coexi

由于人脸面部运动变化分布在一个低维非线性流形中,基于线性假设的主动外观模型采用主成分分析算法描述人脸形状的变化必然带来额外的估计误差。为降低或消除这一误差,该文提出一种改进的局部线性嵌入算法构建人脸形状-纹理空间,并将其应用于主动外观模型中。实验结果表明,不仅对于面部形变不大的人脸形状,局部线性嵌入-主动外观模型拥有更低的估计残差;而且对于一些变化较大的人脸形状,在主成分分析-主动外观模型跟踪失败的情况下,局部线性嵌入-主动外观模型依然可以取得很好的特征估计结果,弥补了主成分分析-主动外观模型的不足。

BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is widely accepted for early gastric cancer(EGC)without lymph node metastasis,although ESD is challenging,even for small lesions,in the greater curvature(GC)of the upper(U)and middle(M)thirds of the *** forceps-assisted endoscopic resection(GF-ER)is a type of endoscopic mucosal resection that is performed via a double-channel *** To investigate the safety and efficacy of GF-ER vs ESD in the GC of the stomach’s U and M *** We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 506 patients who underwent ER of 522 EGC lesions in the stomach’s U and M regions in three institutions between January 2016 and May *** lesions from eight patients who underwent GF-ER for EGC(the GF-ER group)were compared to 63 lesions from 63 patients who underwent ESD(the ESD group).We also performed a subgroup analysis of small lesions(≤10 mm)in 6 patients(7 lesions)from the GF-ER group and 20 patients(20 lesions)from the ESD *** There were no statistically significant differences between the GF-ER and ESD groups in the en bloc resection rates(100%vs 100%)and the R0 resection rates(100%vs 98.4%).The median procedure time in the GF-ER group was shorter than that in the ESD group(4.0 min vs 55.0 min,P<0.01).There were no adverse events in the GF-ER group,although five perforations(8.0%)and 1 case of postoperative bleeding(1.6%)were observed in the ESD *** we only considered lesions that were≤10 mm,the median procedure time in the GF-ER group was still shorter than that in the ESD group(4.0 min vs 35.0 min,P<0.01).There were no adverse events in the GF-ER group,although 1 case of perforation(1.6%)were observed in the ESD *** These findings suggest that GF-ER may be an effective therapeutic option for small lesions in the GC of the stomach’s U and M regions.
