Organic Amendments Improve Plant morpho-Physiology and Antioxidant metabolism in mitigating Drought Stress in Bread Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)

Due to the unpredictable climate change,drought stress is being considered as one of the major threats to crop ***(Triticum aestivum *** Gom-26)being a dry season crop frequently faces scarcity of water and results in a lower ***,this experiment aims to explore the role of different organic amendments(OAs)in mitigating drought stress-induced *** pot experiment consisted of different organic amendments ***,vermicompost and poultry manure@0.09 kg m^(−2)soil,biochar@2.5%w/w soil and chitosan@1%w/w soil which was imposed on the plants grown under both well-watered and drought *** showed that drought stress reduced plant height(15%),SPAD value(16%),relative water content(13%),number of spikelet spike^(−1)(17%),number of grains spike^(−1)(12%),and 100-grain weight(18%).Organic amendments act as a protectant and reduce drought stress-induced damages by enhancing the morpho-physiological and yield *** enhanced SPAD value by 18%,number of spikelets spike^(−1)by 20%,number of grains spike^(−1)by 17%,whereas poultry manure increased plant height by 16%under drought condition compared to control *** other OAs applied,vermicompost was proved to be capable of reducing the higher lipid peroxidation and proline content raised by drought *** stress-induced increment of catalase,ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase activities were also efficiently modulated by the organic amendment *** present study concluded that OAs play significant roles in alleviating drought stressinduced damages by improving the morpho-physiological attributes and among the different types of OAs used vermicompost performed better which in addition ceased the production of reactive oxygen species.

Influence of thyroid volume reduction on absorbed dose in ^(131)I therapy studied by using Geant4 monte Carlo simulation

A simulation study has been performed to quantify the effect of volume reduction on the thyroid absorbed dose per decay and to investigate the variation of energy deposition per decay due to β- and γ-activity of 131I with volume/mass of thyroid, for water, ICRP- and ICRU-soft tissue taken as thyroid material. A monte Carlo model of the thyroid, in the Geant4 radiation transport simulation toolkit was constructed to compute the β- and γ-absorbed dose in the simulated thyroid phantom for various values of its volume. The effect of the size and shape of the thyroid on energy deposition per decay has also been studied by using spherical, ellipsoidal and cylindrical models for the thyroid and varying its volume in 1-25 cm3 range. The relative differences of Geant4 results for different models with each other and mCNP results lie well below 1.870%. The maximum relative difference among the Geant4 estimated results for water with ICRP and ICRU soft tissues is not more than 0.225%. S-values for ellipsoidal, spherical and cylindrical thyroid models were estimated and the relative difference with published results lies within 3.095%. The absorbed fraction values for beta particles show a good agreement with published values within 2.105% deviation. The Geant4 based simulation results of absorbed fractions for gammas again show a good agreement with the corresponding mCNP and EGS4 results （±6.667%） but have 29.032% higher values than that of mIRD calculated values. Consistent with previous studies, the reduction of the thyroid volume is found to have a substantial effect on the absorbed dose. Geant4 simulations confirm dose dependence on the volume/mass of thyroid in agreement with mCNP and EGS4 computed values but are substantially different from mIRD8 data. Therefore, inclusion of size/mass dependence is indicated for 131I radiotherapy of the thyroid.

We present a general formulation based on punctual kriging and fuzzy concepts for image restoration in spatial domain. Gray-level images degraded with Gaussian white noise have been considered. Based on the pixel local neighborhood, fuzzy logic has been employed intelligently to avoid unnecessary estimation of a pixel. The intensity estimation of the selected pixels is then carried out by employing punctual kriging in conjunction with the method of Lagrange multipliers and estimates of local semi-variances. Application of such a hybrid technique performing both selection and intensity estimation of a pixel demonstrates substantial improvement in the image quality as compared to the adaptive Wiener filter and existing fuzzykriging approaches. It has been found that these filters achieve noise reduction without loss of structural detail information, as indicated by their higher structure similarity indices, peak signal to noise ratios and the new variogram based quality measures.

We study the Dirac and the Klein-Gordon oscillators in a noncommutative space. It is shown that the Klein-Gordon oscillator in a noncommutative space has a similar behaviour to the dynamics ofa particle in a commutative space and in a constant magnetic field. The Dirac oscillator in a noncommutative space has a similar equation to the equation of motion for a relativistic fermion in a commutative space and in a magnetic field, however a new exotic term appears, which implies that a charged fermion in a noncommutative space has an electric dipole moment.

The formation and propagation of shocks and solitons are investigated in an unmagnetized, ultradense plasma containing degenerate Fermi gas of electrons and positrons, and classical ion gas by employing Thomas-Fermi model. For this purpose, a deformed Korteweg-de Vries-Berger （dKdVB） equation is derived using the reductive perturbative technique for cold, adiabatic, and isothermal ions. Localized analytical solutions of dKdVB equation in planar geometry are obtained for dispersion as well as dissipation dominant cases. For nonplanar （cylindrical and spherical） geometry, time varying numerical shock wave solution of dKdVB equation is found. Its dispersion dominant case leading to the soliton solution is also discussed. The effect of ion temperature, positron concentration and dissipation is found significant on these nonlinear structures. The relevance of the results to the systems of scientific interest is pointed out.

The effects of gravitomagnetic force on plasma oscillations are investigated using the kinetic theory of homogeneous electrically neutral plasma in the absence of external electric or magnetic field. The random phase assumption is employed neglecting the thermal motion of the electrons with respect to a fixed ion background. It is found that the gravitomagnetic force reduces the characteristic frequency of the plasma thus enhancing the refractive index of the medium. The estimates for the predicted effects are given for a typical white dwarf, pulsar, and neutron star.

In order to study the effect of large scale cosmological expansion on small systems, we assume a Friedmann- Robertson-Walker type coordinate system in presence of a nonzero cosmological constant and derive a non-static Reissner-Nrdstr6m metric. It is an analytic function of r for all values except at r = O, which is singular. By determining the equation of motion in this metric we can estimate how expansion of the universe may affect Pioneer＇s motion. Because the metric does not have any event horizon and so high potential regions are accessible, this may help us in better understanding AGN phenomenon.

The current study investigated the comparative oxidative damage in twomaize seedlings induced by saline,drought,and combined stress and the ameliorative role of two different doses(20 and 80μm)of 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA)against the above-mentioned *** grown 10-day-old maize(Zea mays,*** Hybrid maize-7(BHm-7)and BARI Hybrid maize-9(BHm-9))seedlings were exposed to 12 dS/m of saline solution,200 mm mannitol-induced drought stress alone and their combined stress for 7 *** revealed that individual stresses retard the plant growth to some degrees,however,their combined stress has more detrimental effects,which might be correlated with lipid peroxidation(mDA)-induced oxidative stress in seedlings,enhanced Na+/K+ratio,and augmented generation of superoxide(O_(2)•^(−))and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).In contrast,exogenous ALA supplementation at 20μm concentration markedly recovered from chlorosis and growth inhibition,substantially scavenged reactive oxygen species(ROS)and mDA by preserving ionhomeostasis and relaxing oxidative stress,also,by boosting catalase(CAT)and glutathione S-transferase(GST),and exclusively via depressing the activity of lipoxygenase(LOX)antioxidant *** the contrary,80μm ALA made things worse,nevertheless,higher activities shown by other antioxidant enzymes,like,superoxide dismutase(SOD),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),peroxidase(POD),and glutathione peroxidase(GPX),which were related to lessen the oxidative damage by highly produced O_(2)•^(−)and H_(2)O_(2) under combined ***-denaturing gel electrophoresis was done for further ***,ALA importantly increased the photosynthetic pigment contents in both genotypes irrespective of ***,GST might have assisted the plants to escape from the herbicidal effect by ***,in the combined stress condition,high ALA concentration may have some positive role to *** findings also showed that BHm-9 performed better than BHm
