In multimodal learning, Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have become a critical research focus, enabling the integration of textual and visual data. These models have shown significant promise across various natural language processing tasks, such as visual question answering and computer vision applications, including image captioning and image-text retrieval, highlighting their adaptability for complex, multimodal datasets. In this work, we review the landscape of Bootstrapping Language-Image Pre-training (BLIP) and other VLM techniques. A comparative analysis is conducted to assess VLMs’ strengths, limitations, and applicability across tasks while examining challenges such as scalability, data quality, and fine-tuning complexities. The work concludes by outlining potential future directions in VLM research, focusing on enhancing model interpretability, addressing ethical implications, and advancing multimodal integration in real-world applications.

BACKGROUND Tacrolimus(TAC)is metabolized primarily by the CYP3A-encoded enzyme family(CYP3A4,CYP3A5,and CYP3A7).Individuals expressing the CYP3A51 allele are considered fast metabolizers and generally require higher TAC doses to reach therapeutic *** To evaluate the predictive value of the TAC concentration-to-dose(C0/D)ratio for identifying CYP3A5 poly-morphisms in renal transplant *** Eighty-six de novo kidney transplant recipients with TAC-based immunosuppression from the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis at Military Hospital 103(Hanoi,Vietnam)were included in this retrospective *** samples were collected within the first week post-transplantation to monitor TAC levels and to perform genotyping for CYP3A5 genetic *** The CYP3A53/3 genotype was identified in 37 patients(43%),CYP3A51/3 in 40 patients(46.5%),and CYP3A51/1 in 9 patients(10.5%).Patients carrying the CYP3A51/3 or CYP3A51/1 genotype,classified as fast metabolizers(CYP3A5 expressers),had significantly lower TAC C0 concentrations and C0/D ratios compared to slow meta-bolizers(CYP3A53/3 genotype)at multiple time points during follow-up(all P<0.001).Notably,the TAC C0/D ratio obtained on day 1(0.91)was shown to predict CYP3A5 polymorphism with a sensitivity of 84.6%and a specificity of 84.6%.CONCLUSION This study demonstrates that the TAC C0/D ratio provides a reliable predictive value for CYP3A5 polymorphisms,which can be used to individualize TAC dosing in renal transplant recipients in Vietnam and other low-income countries.

Negative index materials are artificial structures whose refractive index has negative value over some frequency range. These materials were first investigated theoretically by Veselago in 1946 and were confirmed experimentally by Shelby, Smith, and Schultz in2001. Mathematically, the study of negative index materials faces two difficulties. Firstly,the equations describing the phenomenon have sign changing coefficients, hence the ellipticity and the compactness are lost in general. Secondly, the localized resonance, i.e.,the field explodes in some regions and remains bounded in some others as the loss goes to 0, might appear. In this survey, the author discusses recent mathematics progress in understanding properties of negative index materials and their applications. The topics are reflecting complementary media, superlensing and cloaking by using complementary media, cloaking a source via anomalous localized resonance, the limiting absorption principle and the well-posedness of the Helmholtz equation with sign changing coefficients.

Urban humans and biodiversity-related concepts are interacting with each other in many negative and positive *** biodiversity provides a wide array of provision and cultural-ecological services to urban residents,but it is being overexploited to the point of *** crisis is largely driven by the expanding illegal wildlife trade in developing countries with a high urbanization rate and biodiversity level like *** supply-side measures are ineffective in reducing biodiversity loss,researchers have suggested demandside measures as supplements,such as social marketing campaigns and law enforcement in urban ***,urban residents are also potential visitors to urban public parks and national parks,which helps generate finance for biodiversity preservation and conservation in those *** how urban residents’perceptions towards biodiversity and biodiversity-related behaviors can help improve the effectiveness of conservation efforts and sustainable urban ***,this article presents a data set of 535 urban residents’wildlife consumption behaviors,multifaceted perceptions and interactions with biodiversity-related concepts,and nature-based recreation *** data set is constructed with six major categories:1)wildlife product consumption,2)general biodiversity perceptions,3)biodiversity at home and neighborhood,4)public park visitation and motivations,5)national park visitation and motivations,and 6)socio-demographic *** resources are expected to support researchers in enriching the lax literature regarding the role of urban residents in biodiversity conservation and preservation,and help policymakers to find insights for building up an"eco-surplus culture"among urban residents through effective public communication and policymaking.

Properties of poly（1-naphthylamine）/Fe3O4 composites and arsenic adsorption capacity in wastewater

The research results of poly（1-naphthylamine）lFe3O4 （PNA/Fe3O4） nanocomposites synthesized by a chemical method for As（Ⅲ） wastewater treatment are presented in this paper. XRD patterns and TEM images showed that the Fe3O4 grain size varied from 13 to 20 nm. The results of Raman spectral analysis showed that PNA participated in part of the PNA/Fe3O4 composite samples. The grain size of PNA/Fe3O4 composite samples is about 25-30 nm measured by SEM. The results of vibrating sample magnetometer measurements at room temperature showed that the saturation magnetic moment of PNA/Fe3O4 samples decreased from 63.13 to 43.43 emu/g, while the PNA concentration increased from 5% to 15%. The nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm of samples at 77 K at a relative pressure PIPo of about 1 was studied in order to investigate the surface and porous structure of nanoparticles by the BET method. Although the saturation magnetic moments of samples decreased with the polymer concentration increase, the arsenic adsorption capacity of the PNA/Fe3O4 sample with the PNA concentration of 5% is better than that of Fe3O4 in a solution with pH = 7. In the solution with pH 〉 14, the arsenic adsorption of magnetic nanoparticles is insignificant.

Homogenization is a promising approach to capture the behavior of complex structures like corrugated panels. It enables us to replace high-cost shell models with stiffness-equivalent orthotropic plate alternatives. Many homogenization models for corrugated panels of different shapes have been proposed. However, there is a lack of investigations for verifying their accuracy and reliability. In addition, in the recent trend of development of smoothed finite element methods, the cell-based smoothed three-node Mindlin plate element (CS-MIN3) based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) has been proposed and successfully applied to many analyses of plate and shell structures. Thus, this paper further extends the CS-MIN3 by integrating itself with homogenization models to give homogenization methods. In these methods, the equivalent extensional, bending, and transverse shear stiftriess components which constitute the equivalent orthotropic plate models are represented in explicit analytical expressions. Using the results of ANSYS and ABAQUS shell simulations as references, some numerical examples are conducted to verify the accuracy and reliability of the homogenization methods for static analyses of trapezoidally and sinusoidally corrugated panels.

Cross-Language Information Extraction and Auto Evaluation for OOV Term Translations

OOV term translation plays an important role in natural language processing. Although many researchers in the past have endeavored to solve the OOV term translation problems, but none existing methods offer definition or context information of OOV terms. Furthermore, non-existing methods focus on cross-language definition retrieval for OOV terms. Never the less, it has always been so difficult to evaluate the correctness of an OOV term translation without domain specific knowledge and correct references. Our English definition ranking method differentiate the types of OOV terms, and applies different methods for translation extraction. Our English definition ranking method also extracts multilingual context information and monolingual definitions of OOV terms. In addition, we propose a novel cross-language definition retrieval system for OOV terms. Never the less, we propose an auto re-evaluation method to evaluate the correctness of OOV translations and definitions. Our methods achieve high performances against existing methods.

In this paper,we establish a new algorithm to the non-overlapping Schwarz domain decomposition methods with changing transmission conditions for solving one dimensional advection reaction diffusion *** precisely,we first describe the new algorithm and prove the convergence results under several natural assumptions on the sequences of parameters which determine the transmission *** we give a simple method to estimate the new value of parameters in each *** interesting advantage of our method is that one may update the better parameters in each iteration to save the computational cost for optimizing the parameters after many *** some numerical experiments are performed to show the behavior of the convergence rate for the new method.
