BACKGROUND Rebleeding after recovery from esophagogastric variceal bleeding(EGVB)is a severe complication that is associated with high rates of both incidence and *** its clinical importance,recognized prognostic models that can effectively predict esophagogastric variceal rebleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis are *** To construct and externally validate a reliable prognostic model for predicting the occurrence of esophagogastric variceal *** This study included 477 EGVB patients across 2 cohorts:The derivation cohort(n=322)and the validation cohort(n=155).The primary outcome was rebleeding events within 1 *** least absolute shrinkage and selection operator was applied for predictor selection,and multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to construct the prognostic *** validation was performed with bootstrap *** assessed the discrimination,calibration and accuracy of the model,and performed patient risk *** Six predictors,including albumin and aspartate aminotransferase concentrations,white blood cell count,and the presence of ascites,portal vein thrombosis,and bleeding signs,were selected for the rebleeding event prediction following endoscopic treatment(REPET)*** predicting rebleeding within 1 year,the REPET model ex-hibited a concordance index of 0.775 and a Brier score of 0.143 in the derivation cohort,alongside 0.862 and 0.127 in the validation ***,the REPET model revealed a significant difference in rebleeding rates(P<0.01)between low-risk patients and intermediate-to high-risk patients in both *** We constructed and validated a new prognostic model for variceal rebleeding with excellent predictive per-formance,which will improve the clinical management of rebleeding in EGVB patients.

A UNIFIED A POSTERIORI ERROR ANALYSIS FOR DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN APPROXIMATIONS OF REACTIVE TRANSPORT EQUATIONS

Four primal discontinuous Galerkin methods are applied to solve reactive transport problems, namely, Oden-BabuSka-Baumann DG （OBB-DG）, non-symmetric interior penalty Galerkin （NIPG）, symmetric interior penalty Galerkin （SIPG）, and incomplete interior penalty Galerkin （IIPG）. A unified a posteriori residual-type error estimation is derived explicitly for these methods. From the computed solution and given data, explicit estimators can be computed efficiently and directly, which can be used as error indicators for adaptation. Unlike in the reference [10], we obtain the error estimators in L^2 （L^2） norm by using duality techniques instead of in L^2（H^1） norm.

Cooperative Dynamics in Lattice-Embedded Scale-Free Networks

We investigate cooperative behaviors of lattice-embedded scale-free networking agents in the prisoner'sdilemma game model by employing two initial strategy distribution mechanisms,which are specific distribution to themost connected sites (hubs) and random *** study indicates that the game dynamics crucially dependson the underlying spatial network structure with different strategy distribution *** cooperators' specificdistribution contributes to an enhanced level of cooperation in the system compared with random one,and cooperationis robust to cooperators' specific distribution but fragile to defectors' specific ***,unlike the specificcase,increasing heterogeneity of network does not always favor the emergence of cooperation under random ***,we study the geographical effects and find that the graphically constrained network structure tends toimprove the evolution of cooperation in random case and in specific one for a large temptation to defect.

Esophageal cancer(EC)is one of the most lethal cancers in the world,and its morbidity and mortality rates rank among the top ten in ***,surgical resection,radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the primary clinical treatments for esophageal ***,outcomes are still unsatisfactory due to the limited efficacy and severe adverse effects of conventional *** a new type of approach,targeted therapies have been confirmed to play an important role in the treatment of esophageal cancer;these include cetuximab and bevacizumab,which target epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),*** addition,other drugs targeting surface antigens and signaling pathways or acting on immune checkpoints have been continuously *** example,trastuzumab,a monoclonal antibody targeting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER-2),has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)as a first-line treatment of HER-2-positive ***,the PD-L1 inhibitor pembrolizumab has been approved as a highly efficient drug for patients with PD-L1-positive or advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).These novel drugs can be used alone or in combination with other treatment strategies to further improve the treatment efficacy and prognosis of cancer ***,adverse events,optimal dosages and effective combinations still need further *** this review,we expound an outline of the latest advances in targeted therapies of esophageal cancer and the mechanisms of relevant drugs,discuss their efficacy and safety,and provide a clinical rationale for precision medicine in esophageal cancer.

Causal effects of circulating vitamin levels on the risk of heart failure:a Mendelian randomization study

BACKGROUND Observational studies suggest inverse associations between serum vitamin levels and the risk of heart failure(HF). However, the causal effects of vitamins on HF have not been fully elucidated. Here, we conducted a Mendelian randomization(MR) study to investigate the causal associations between genetically determined vitamin levels and *** Genetic instrumental variables for circulating vitamin levels, including vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, which were assessed as either absolute or metabolite levels were obtained from public genome-wide association studies. Summary statistics for single-nucleotide-polymorphisms and HF associations were retrieved from the HERMES Consortium(47,309 cases and 930,014controls) and FinnGen Study(30,098 cases and 229,612 controls). Two-sample MR analyses were implemented to assess the causality between vitamin levels and HF per outcome database, and the results were subsequently combined by *** Our MR study did not find significant associations between genetically determined circulating vitamin levels and HF risk. For absolute vitamin levels, the odds ratio for HF ranged from 0.97(95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.85–1.09, P = 0.41) for vitamin C to 1.05(95% CI: 0.61–1.82, P = 0.85) for vitamin A. For vitamin metabolites, the odds ratio ranged between 0.94(95% CI:0.75–1.19, P = 0.62) for α-tocopherol and 1.11(95% CI: 0.98–1.26, P = 0.09) for γ-*** Evidence from our study does not support the causal effects of circulating vitamin levels on HF. Therefore,there may be no direct beneficial effects of vitamin intake on the prevention of primary HF.

A facile procedure for the synthesis ofdithieno[5,6-b：11,12-b＇]coronene-2,3,8,9-tetracarboxylic tetra（2- ethylhexyl）ester （DTCTI＇E-EH） from readily available perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracaroboxylic dianhydride is described. The electronic properties of DTCTTE-EH were elucidated on the basis of UV-vis spectra, emission spectrum and electrochemical measurement, which demonstrate that DTCTTE is a new class of components for promising semiconducting materials.

Elastoplastical analysis on cylinder of different moduli in tension and compression

The constitutive equation was deduced. The results were obtained from theelastic and elastoplastical analysis of the cylinder sample applied with different ratios ofload on both the inner and outer sides and different moduli ratio. The factors affecting thedevelopment of the plastic field of the cylinder with finite radius were shown. The resultsshow that the different moduli ratio is the most important factor in the development of theplastic zone. The slight fluctuation of the ratio will bring multiplied increment of the displacement, which may result in the final destruction of the engineering material.

Effectiveness of a hydroxynaphthoquinone fraction from Arnebia euchroma in rats with experimental colitis

AIM:To evaluate the potential effectiveness of hydroxynaphthoquinone mixture(HM)in rats with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid(TNBS)-induced ***:Colitis was induced by intracolonic administration of TNBS(80 mg/kg,dissolved in 50%ethanol).Rats were treated daily for 7 d with HM(2.5,5,10 mg/kg)and mesalazine 100 mg/kg 24 h after TNBS *** progression was monitored daily by observation of clinical signs and body weight *** the end of the experiment,macroscopic and histopathologic lesions of rats were scored,and myeloperoxidase(MPO)activity was *** also determined inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-αlevel by ELISA,Western blotting and immunochemistry to explore the potential mechanisms of ***:After intracolonic instillation of TNBS,animals developed colitis associated with soft stool,diarrhea and marked colonic *** of HM significantly attenuated clinical and histopathologic severity of TNBS-induced colitis in a dose-dependent *** abrogated body weight loss,diarrhea and inflammation,decreased macroscopic damage score,and improved histological signs,with a significant reduction of inflammatory infiltration,ulcer size and the severity of goblet cell depletion(all P<0.05 vs TNBS alone group).HM could reduce MPO *** addition,it also decreased serum TNF-αlevel and down-regulated TNF-αexpression in colonic *** reduction was statistically significant when the dose of HM was 10 mg/kg(P<0.05 vs TNBS alone group),and the effect was comparable to that of mesalazine and showed no apparent adverse *** underlying mechanism may be associated with TNF-α***:These findings suggest that HM possesses favourable therapeutic action in TNBS-induced colitis,which provides direct pharmacological evidence for its clinical application.
